Back To Hell has amazing duel vocals in the chorus.
But Old School Reasons is my favourite song of both Matt and Dan together for now, may change after a while.

Untitled 04-12-2005 03:13 PM

Dan sent me From Here To Imfirmary its good.

El_Shiznit 04-12-2005 09:50 PM

I have a question about the new album before I go out and buy/download it.

Is the style more similar to Good Mourning (darker kind of) or is it closer to, say, FHTI (more upbeat songs)? I am going to get it either way. I just wanted to know before hand so there's no surprise.

My fav Alkaline Trio album. Infact, one of my favourite albums

The_Red_Death 04-14-2005 08:23 PM

Can I hit anyone up for Crimson? Over MSN or AIM, if possible.

Definitely more towards Good Mourning.
The piano definitely adds to this.

Oz Rembrandt 04-15-2005 03:36 AM

Yeah, Seps right, its far more Good Mourning type.

The Show must go off! DVD of them live of the Metro at Hallowe'en arrived yesterday :thumb: its awesome. Derek Grant is an evil looking bastard

chumpradio 04-15-2005 09:44 AM

I like From Here To Infirmary, but I honestly think it is nowhere near as good as Maybe I'll Catch Fire or Goddamnit, and I think it's about as good as Good Mourning.
I don't see how so many people rate it as Alkaline Trio's best album.

Rancid Dan 04-15-2005 09:52 AM

imo, it is definetley their best album, only Crimson is near.
Goddanmit is their worst, but i don't have MICF or Good Mourning

Oz Rembrandt 04-15-2005 10:37 AM

My favourite is From Here to Infirmary, but I really cant fault them on any album

Rancid Dan 04-15-2005 10:40 AM

I just downloaded MICF, it's beeter than Goddnamit, but it has only 10 tracks

benbenben 04-15-2005 11:40 AM

crimson, for me is by far the best. i really like it. probably one of the only of their albums i really really enjoy listening to. except from FHTI

:upset:

you have so much cool stuff.

chumpradio 04-16-2005 03:02 AM

Hey, what's everyones favourite Alkaline Trio lyrics. Like, small parts of songs. There are far too many for me to list them all, so here a the first few that I can think of.

"We're nowhere near prepared, there's no way of knowing,
Why don't they just admit they're scared? Because it's already showing."

"Cracked my head open on your kitchen floor, to prove to you that I have brains"

"Before you left I said that you can bet I'll be bothering you soon,
You said 'No bother, please do'."

"Even Christ himself would cringe at the sight of your scars"

"What's upside down? What's coated in silver? This crucifix is my four leaf clover"

"I'm just trying to relax, as the killer's waiting right outside my door"

"You know it starts here, outside waiting in the cold, kiss me once in the snow, I swear it never get's old"

"Waking up next to nothing, after dreaming of you and me, waking up all alone, waking up so relieved"

"Take your wings outside, you can't fly in here"

"Bless me dark father I have sinned, I've done it before and I'll do it again"

"I'm not much of a jester, but I'd test poisoned food for you, your majesty, you're royal blue, I'm royalty, my king of pain"

"Intending to burn, pretending to fight it, everyone learns faster on fire, things took a turn, lost all desire, you live and you burn"

"Send us back to hell, we've had our fill of heaven, give us back our sins"

"Never had a drink that I didn't like, got a taste of you, threw up all night"

"Why is it that you never said, 'I love you more than just a friend', I pray this gridlock never ends, and how we get there just depends"

I cannot be bothered writing any more right now. If a lot of people reply to theirs, I may write some more of mine.

Oz Rembrandt 04-16-2005 04:11 AM
:upset:

Yeah, but I have no money

Lyrics (Alkaline Trio wright some of the best methinks)

"Head Like An Empty Sterile Room, Somehow I made a Mess. Like Watching New Born Babies Crack from Work Releted Stress"
"Cracked my head open on your kitchen floor, to prove to you that I have brains"
"Even Christ himself would cringe at the sight of your scars"
"What's upside down? What's coated in silver? This crucifix is my four leaf clover"
"I'm not much of a jester, but I'd test poisoned food for you, your majesty, you're royal blue, I'm royalty, my king of pain"
"There are things that used to make me laugh, but now they're deeply buried in the Past"
"I used to long for Broken Bones, Used to Long for a Casket to call my own"
"What ever happened to that silly dream I had? I'd love to make it real. I'd love to rub your back"
"step one: slit my throat
step two: play in my blood
step three: cover me in dirty sheets
and run laughing out of the house
step four: stop at lake michigan
and rinse those crimson hands
you took me hostage you made your demands
i couldn't meet them so you cut off my fingers
one by one"

I'll post more later

chumpradio 04-16-2005 04:27 AM

Can't believe that I forgot "Maybe I'll stay down next time I get hit by a train", from I Lied My Face Off.

simplephotographinthesun 04-16-2005 10:26 PM

"i don't hear from you no more, but i get the message. you crashed your car through my front door, i pulled you from the wreckage. you told me that you missed me, but you meant with the grill and hood."

"i don't dream since i quit sleeping. and i havent slept since i met you. and you cant breathe without coughing in daytime, well neither can I, so what do you say? Your coffin or mine?"

"did i remember to sleep in? take lots of pills, commit irreversible sins? did i at least try to kiss the prettiest girl at the right time?

"i dragged this lake looking for corpses, dusted for printed, pried up the floor boards, pieces of plane and black box recorders dont lie. and ive been pre-occupied with these sick sick senses that sense DNA on barbed wire fences. maybe someday i'll find me a suspect that has no alibi."

"soon ends our stay here and its been fun, so tonight ill raise my glass to us. 'cause we talked so much i think we filled this ashtray twice. and i'm pretty sure we emptied every bottle in the place..."

"do you remember when they both drove out of state? stealing kisses behind her cousin's back, with a love so strong tell me who could wait?"

"so close to perfect, swear to hell thought it was you. well this bouncing baby boy's now turning baby blue."

"im like a broken record, i've got a needle scratching me. it injects the poison of alcohol IV."

"i got a letter in the mail, resender failed to let me know where it came from. opened it up and sure enough there we were arm in arm again."

"you came to me like a dream
the kind that always leaves,
just as the best part starts
it ends so abruptly.
and leaves you stunned and naked in your bedroom all alone.
it's kinda funny how something so soothing
gets interrupted by the ring of a telephone."

"**** you Aurora,
You took my only friend.
You wont catch me behind the wheel of a Chrysler ever again. "

"I found out recently that you are leaving
For good I hope I softly tell my ceiling"

"Most exciting thing I do - hang half way out a third floor window,
maybe throw lit cigarettes down.
And maybe I'll catch fire,
something warm to hold me,
something pure to burn away the darkness that hides inside my mind.
All that evil ****'s not hard to find
I guess I only claim to be nice."

"One of these days
it's gonna catch up to you
Throwing looks like those around
One of these nights
I promise to you
I'll soon be sleeping sound,
as soon as I leave town"

"This place would be busier than O'Hare
There's proof in the sky
...
If the chip off your shoulder should fall to your chest
Get it off right away
Cause if you don't then it won't be in peace that you rest"

...and theres more

Punkrock26 04-17-2005 01:41 AM

Alkaline trio is my favorite band´and I´m from Germany. Stained in satin is my favorite Song, but Continental, Sadie, Bleed and Southern Rock on Goddamit too.

Punkrock26 04-17-2005 01:44 AM

In your opinion, are the drummer and the bassist of Alkaline trio the best ones of Punkrock?
Oh by the way, I´m wearing a Alkaline trio shirt right now.

chumpradio 04-17-2005 01:57 AM

I believe that they are some of the best, but not the best. They have had a few drummers though, so do you mean just Derek, or their past drummers as well? Mike Felumlee was a pretty good drummer as well.

Oz Rembrandt 04-17-2005 04:23 AM

Derek Grant often says that the Alkaline Trio's first drummer was better than he was, but he still loves playing the old stuff (Drum Fill in Good Bye Forever). Dan Andriano is an incredible Bassist though. He alternates between simple basslines, to really interesting ones (like Mr. Chainsaw :D).

I love all those lines posted by simplephotographinthesun :thumb:

chumpradio 04-17-2005 04:26 AM

I forgot another one of my favourite lines. :(

"Did I remember to stay up late? Drinking for the fun...singing for the taste"

Untitled 04-17-2005 04:36 AM

Im a better drummer then all of Alk3 put, and all of everyband ever, put together.

I've got a can of kerosine
I've got some bad ideas involving you and me"

And 2 of the bonus tracks, I Lied My Face Off and Goodbye Forever, are two of the best Alkaline Trio songs.
