kazaa is a bit sketchy. but the rest are usually pretty good about it. just be careful who you get any executable type files from. |

Exactly. If you absolutely have to download an exe, scan it before you open it. |

I'm pretty sure it's impossible to get a virus from mp3 files. |
I try telling my parents that, but they always blame it on mp3's whenever the computer crashes :upset:
I need soulseek |
The only way a mp3 could crash your computer is if it was a fake mp3, i.e a .mp3.exe
|
Yeah, but even those are easy to avoid.

This is true. I too haven't had a problem with Soulseek. There was that time I got a ****load of spyware from Kazaa, but then again, it was Kazaa. |

If I decipered that correctly and my idiot to english translator is working correctly. If you use only soulseek you have a very reduced risk of being caught by the RIAA for a few reasons: 1. The RIAA doesn't know about soulseek, yet 2. You are more than likely downloading punk, most of which is signed to independent labels not part of the RIAA. But there are exceptions. If the RIAA were to find out about soulseek, they may just ask them to shut down (with legal threats) but not do anything to the users. The RIAA could also find Soulseek and not do anything because the people who run soulseek have rules stating you should not share copyrighted material, also soulseek was established in the beginning as a place where up and coming DJs, rappers, and techno artists could share their music (and it still is a big group for that) |
Is the RIAA even really a serious threat anymore? I thought everyone stopped caring.
