sounds great!
doesnt have rock roll music though

Illmatic 05-21-2005 06:06 PM

The rest of the album IS decent (at the very least). I don't think there's really a bad song on there.

Leper 05-21-2005 06:08 PM

IMO the rest of the songs on that album are sub-par, by the Who's standards anyways..meh, to each his own i guess.

magicbus 05-21-2005 06:10 PM

Also, I'm enjoying Anthem of the Sun. I'm only on the first song, but I like it better than the mellower American Beauty stuff.

TheDMV 05-21-2005 06:11 PM
I have to say, Who's Next dissappointed me a little when i bought it. You'd think with three great songs (Won't get fooled again, Baba O'Riley, Behind Blue Eyes) on it, the rest of the album would at least be decent..
I think that the rest of the album is good though. Lunch did point out that the song structures are very similiar which is true. The version with expanded tracks is awesome.

I agree, it was a MAJOR disapointment for me and still is. I have listined to it alot of times now and nothing about it (except the 3 songs above^) seems very outstanding to me. It's very boring IMO.

Leper 05-21-2005 06:17 PM

Who among us here liked George Thurogood? I saw him in concert last night, it was a really good show. I was a little disappointed with his solos though. Not much imagination. They were more like long-as$ guitar fills. But overall it was a pretty good.

TheDMV 05-21-2005 06:20 PM

I have only heard a few of his songs but I like them quite a lot. Move it on over and Who Do You love are phenominal Blues-Rock songs IMO.

magicbus 05-21-2005 06:22 PM

I don't really like George Thorogood, but I'm glad you had fun at the concert.

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 05-21-2005 06:29 PM

Who was the original songwritter of "Who Do You Love"? I've heard tons of covers on it and was woundering.

Distant Echoes 05-21-2005 06:30 PM

I heard George's concerts were great though. My dad said when he went back in the 80s or somthin, he just turned on every light in the whole stadium and played like mad the whole time, unlike the crazy light shows and effects other bands try to pull off. I would see him in concert though...but i need some more of his material too

ya he played all his big hits almost right away, so me and my cousin were wondering what he was gonna play for an encore..he ended up coming out for 2 encores, and played some songs i've never heard, but still kicked as$. "One Bourbon, one scotch, one beer" definitely was the best song of the night. Move it on over was a close second.

Meh, you don't really have to be that familiar with his material to enjoy his show.. I like him and all but there's not a whole lot of depth to him if you know what i mean. ;)

Bo Didley.

I'll be seeing George in July.

It's gonna be biker fest.

Badmoon 05-21-2005 06:45 PM

My dad saw George Thorogood and said he was great. He now wants to bring me to see him.

Distant Echoes 05-21-2005 06:47 PM

If the opening act is a 17 year old from Saskatchewan named Kyle..can't remember his last name..make sure you don't miss it. He is quite possibly the cleanest guitar player i've ever seen. You might not care for his music much, kind of a pop/rock, blues, funk combination (think Wide Mouth Mason) but it's worth seeing him just for his guitar ability. He'll blow you away :thumb:

PinkFreud 05-21-2005 08:24 PM

to whoever was asking, the bluesbreakers were john mayall's group. mayall was the vocalist, harmonica player, and pianist. mick fleetwood was the drummer for a bit and the band cycled through eric clapton (imo their best era) and peter green (fantastic blues guitarist). green and fleetwood formed fleetwood mac, who before becoming poppy and weird, were a great blues-rock band. seeing as how i only own the album with eric clapton, i can only offer suggestions from that cd.

suggested listening:
all your love
hideaway
double crossing time

and that is where my mind draws a blank.
check those out though.

Badmoon 05-21-2005 08:26 PM

I'm uploading Double Nickels on the Dime. So maybe some of you will finally understand.

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 05-21-2005 08:30 PM

clown_phobia 05-21-2005 08:31 PM

Badmoon 05-21-2005 08:32 PM

Wasn't it for robo and lunch? I thought they asked for it on the entertainment forums (should I just call it EF?) I would've but I have the album allready. It's got some true classics.

EDIT: Holy crap, jpj, we posted like the same thing. Your post wasn't up when I wrote this. maybe MYR was right in saying that I am a jpj spawn :upset:

To phobia: It's by the Minutemen.

TheDMV 05-21-2005 08:45 PM

Schyma, I could try to upload it for you, though I've never uploaded before. It would either be later tonight or tommorow.

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 05-21-2005 08:55 PM

I would be very, very, very, very grateful if you would. :D
