that stuff is the type of music that scene kids say they like when they don't want to admit to liking rave music

and from my experience that scene kid is usually a girl, fat, and says she's "obsessed" with Japanese culture when it's just a lame attempt at being "different".

seriously man, seriously...
It's not really serious music though is it? The whole thing has a sense of ridiculous to it, but it's just so damn fun. I don't see why it matters who listens to it.

Sonic Youth - Sister

It may be called blasphemy, but I think I might like this a tiny bit more than DN. Although to be fair I have given this one more attention.

Anxious 01-03-2008 02:54 PM
Yeah it is. The vocals are quite awesome as well.

I downloaded Dandelion Gum by BMSR recently, gonna give that a listen soon. I can imagine that being really trippy as well. Is it their best?
Thats the one to start with.

Toe - Songs, Ideas We Forgot

Anxious 01-03-2008 03:11 PM

It just dawned upon me that Boris are such a huge Melvins rip-off its kind of pathetic.

sweboy 01-03-2008 03:18 PM

Well it's not like they pretend they're not.

Anxious 01-03-2008 03:20 PM

Or they wouldn't have taken their name from a Melvins song.

But its so evident even down to their ambient stuff. Boris' collaboration with Sunn can be compared to the Melvins with Lustmore.

The Mae Shi - Terrorbird

Just announced a Cardiff date for this month, hell yes!

YDload 01-03-2008 04:51 PM

can someone tell me what's special about Jawbreaker? i listened to a couple songs from Dear You and they just sound like pop-punk with the raspiest, most nasal vocals ever. i dont know if i can ever like them even though i should :(

Slaapkamers 01-03-2008 04:54 PM

they aren't special

perriwinkle 01-03-2008 05:26 PM

yeah agreed i put a jawbreaker cd on my comp and one time it came up on shuffle and i was like dang this sucks what is this and iwas like oh oops i'm supposed to like this. but yeah its meh

Zmev 01-03-2008 05:31 PM

If you could hear
The dreams I've had my dear
They would give you nightmares for a week

The sound is tight but its the lyrics that do it for me. Try 24 Hour Revenge Therapy if you want to hear real raspy vocals.

DeVotchKa - Una Volta

Slaapkamers 01-03-2008 05:31 PM

24 hour revenge therapy is even more boring than dear you

In re: Jawbreaker, I love them. Unfun is the shit. I could never really get into Dear You, though the new version of "Boxcar" included as a bonus track is pretty cool.

I don't like people who don't like Jawbreaker.

Nick Cave - From Her to Eternity
Tom Waits - Small Change

Not too sure about the Nick Cave, but I love that Tom Waits album. "The Piano Has Been Drinking" is the shit.
