In other news; has anyone in here heard the new Stones album I debating on getting that or getting Some Girls.
Orrrr... a Flying Burrito Brothers album if I can find one.

Illmatic 09-13-2005 03:51 PM

I haven't heard the new Stones album, but I would go with Some Girls because I know that one's good.

np: The Stones - Paint It Black

Some Girls is awesome. I whore that album whenever the Stones come up around here. Get it. Beast of Burden is an amazing Stones songs, and all the songs are good. Except Lies. That's pretty mediocre, but not bad.

I've heard really good things about the new album though, I think I'm going to buy it.

Jacaranda 09-13-2005 04:00 PM

Beast of Burden is one of my least favorite Stones songs, thats why I'm holding off to buy Some Girls so long, I'm not a big fan of Shattered either. I'm basically getting it to complete my Stones Pre-80's work.

NP: Mott the Hoople - All the Young Dudes

I like both those songs. A lot. Shattered is really overplayed though. It's very good, but there's no reason that it needs to be on the radio station everytime I turn it on. What about Miss You, When The Whip Comes Down, or Imagination? I love all 3 of those songs too.

PinkFreud 09-13-2005 04:10 PM

miss you and beast of burden are my two favorite stones songs.

Great song.

If I had a mixer, I would be glad to upload a bunch of Burritos.

Jacaranda 09-13-2005 04:19 PM

Does John Lennon have any involvement in that song because the chorus sounds alot like John Lennon.

Illmatic 09-13-2005 04:20 PM

Dammit Schyma, you finally wore me down :upset:

I really like Piper At the Gates of Dawn now :-\

I especially like the song "Bike"...yes it's the creepiest, weirdest, and most demented song I've ever heard, but I can't stop listening to it
Does John Lennon have any involvement in that song because the chorus sounds alot like John Lennon.
David Bowie wrote the song, played acoustic or electric guitar (can't remember which), and sang backing vocals in the chorus, which would explain that, I think.

ATM 09-13-2005 04:22 PM

We listened to the Flying Burrito Brothers at work today :-D

robo2448 09-13-2005 04:24 PM

What's a good Flying Burrito Brothers cd?

Jacaranda 09-13-2005 04:26 PM

I was gong to get Gilded Palace of Sin thats the only one I know of.

Diamond Dogs is up I just gotta wait for my damn MSN to open.

I looooove Flaming its such a good song, same with The Gnome.

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 09-13-2005 04:28 PM

That album will creep up on you. I didn't like it that much either at first. I only listined to the first 2 songs at first and I kept getting more and more into it until I was starting think it was the greatest album that has ever been put out. I'm glad you're starting to see how good this album really is. :)

My best friend got a Syd Barrett t-shirt today and I'm now really jealous. I mean he'd be still listining to Led Zeppelin and AC/DC if it weren't for me.

It's not bad to listen to those bands, (even though I can't stand either), it's just bad when you don't listen to any other bands besides that. People that don't open there minds up to other music is what's bad. It's good that your giving other bands a chance :thumb:

Cool, do you want the best of Simon and Garfunkel?

Demitri martin on Cemdy central now, EST. One of my favorite stad up comedians ever.

thickasabrick 09-13-2005 05:09 PM

I had to write about myself for an English assignment, so I talked about basically everything that I'm all about (it was a pretty long paper)...anyways, I mentioned Bob Dylan being my favourite songwriter and I went on about him for a bit. I got my paper back, and my English teacher wrote some comments, and one comment went along the lines of "I'd give him a try if he could sing understandable English, until then I'm happy to remain a stranger to his music. Give me some examples of what makes him so great." I've decided I'm gonna make her listen to a couple of his songs. I'm sure she'd at least admit to his great songwriting, even if she doesn't like his voice.

edit- and if I were to upload an album, how do I send it to everyones email? I don't want to be the only one not participating in this.

Woodstock 09-13-2005 05:11 PM

Forever Changes is on my computer in m4a, and I couldn't put it on CD since it had a copyright protection system. Still sound appealing?

Classic rock is cool.

Good to see she's willing to give him a try. Burn her a copy of Love And Theft. Probably Dylan's most incoherent singing ever. Seriously though, I don't see how anyone could not love Blood on the Tracks. I wish my teacher's were into music.
She meant his voice was hard to understand and not his actual lyrics, right?
I don't think his voice is even that hard to understand. Maybe it's because I'm so used to listening to him though.
