How do you like the new ending? I said I wanted to do something with triplets...

Problems: Transition to the final riff is...abrupt...

And the fade-out is too drastic and noticably. You probably shouldn't be able to tell specifical points where the volume changes.

AZNMan#2 08-06-2006 10:14 PM

oic

Yeah, I hear you there.

I think I may go play some Halo.

I have a defrag and Sims 2 running in background, so I hope it doesn't lag bad.'

Jon: will tabit work on powertabs?

WHAT? BORED!? ON AN INTERNET FORUM?

i dunt b leev u

No, it wont, Justin. But tabit is a ton better (as long as your sound card is decent). I'll give you a registered version if you want.

Dead Star 08-06-2006 10:17 PM

omg yes.

Guitar Pro owns them both tbh.

Sure, the trial won't let me play it all at once.

J: I'm trying to get a full version of that too.

Tabit has over a hundred different instruments you can tab with, and it's much more versatile than both the other guitar programs.

It's just takes longer to get good at tabit than with other things. Because of all the freedom and ease-of-use.

Torrents ftw.

Jon: Guitar pro has hundreds of instruments too, and I found it so much easier to use than Powertab.

too lazy to search atm

I don't like dl'ing while I surf. Eats up too much bandwidth.

My bro wants on. bbl

After you install the .exe, just make sure that the .rgk file is in the same folder as tabit. Bam, registered version.

That key will only work with that version of tabit, so the trial you downloaded probably wont work with it.

The site has some awesome tabs. Some of the user-made originals are absolutely increadible. Like this guy http://www.tabit.net/tabs/list.php?f=1840

better ending and i actually liked the abrupt transition almost. it just lacks one thing but i can't put my finger on it. maybe a descending bass riff over the three stops would fill it in nicely. also, the high notes on both guitars are boring because there should be a higher riff. and you should be tapping it. because it's more fun.

That's the best review you've ever given me!

I've tried to add bass to the song in general but it never sounds good, especially because I'm never content with the bassist just following the guitar. I gave up after three different tries.

My guitarist said the same thing about the tapping...it's not a riff that can really be tapped. I've lost hope of ever really playing the song in a band setting anyway, so it doesn't really matter much.

What'd you mean by the bolded statement, though?

Fish 08-06-2006 10:35 PM

i want to hear the song, but im too lazy to download any of that stuff :upset:

bah

well you can just use it to fill in certain areas <_<

it is if you change the notes :p oic

so you have the rhythm, it's bassy, and it's heavy. then you have the two lead riffs. they're both roughly in the mid range, and don't really fill out the sound and so it's a little boring because you don't fill in the high end.

Oh...hmm...I didn't want it to be a solo so much as just lead riffs, so I stayed out of the high range (although that 11/13/13 is high if you ask me :p).

I'll mess with octaves and see how it sounds.

high end doesn't have to be solos

bah, triplets like that sound soloy regardless of how low you play them

well not regardless but they do as you have them anyways.

BridgeToSolace 08-07-2006 12:12 AM

Currently digging: Army Of Flying Robot's Discography and Walls Of Jericho's new album.

WOJ is much better than I expected it to be. I knew AOFR is one of the best real screamo bands out there, though :p

Sweet, thanks for that.

Well I'm off to bed. I'll install the full version and listen to all of the song together tomorrow.

Night J, Dave, Matt, Vince, and Jon. and whoever else I missed.

Well I guess everyone's already off.

Jon: I like the song, but yeah like vince said, it was a bit lacking in the high register. And the triplet part that fades at the end was nice, but maybe adding a little flair to it every few measures or so would be neat.

Woo, a lot more stuff I could see with the full version. :)

Yeah, with the trial version you can only see like sixteen bars. The song is 192 :p

As far as missing high end...the third guitar was kind of an afterthought. It's more meant to compliment either the rhythem (like the chorus, the first breakdown, and the thrid breakdown) or the lead (the verse, second breakdown, and last breakdown) rather than be it's own thing.

Probably because it's the first thing I've ever written with three guitars throughout and need practice :p

Thanks so much for listening, though!!!

Hey.

Sup thread? Seeing as this whole page was about Jon's music, I will whore my new recording pf Blame It On Bad Luck by Bayside. http://www.purevolume.com/cockitinmypocket

I still need to re-record the vocals though, need a free house to do them properly.
