I wonder what the variables involving publi/private domain, recorded or live performances are. I'd say the birthday song has the most live covers
|
I think it's just recorded/documented covers.

I was thinking of compleing a "forward" list of e-mail adresses so that whenever I upload an album, I could send it to anyone interested, and vice-versa. Sort of like a YSI mailing list. I'll start the list if anyone cares Walrus Gumboot - Princesslolly006@yahoo.com (I made the name when I was in 7th grade :p)
Sounds good. Robo2448@yahoo.com And the only person I can think of who covered Yesterday is Frank Sinatra. The Beatles Anthology said it was the most covered song ever. |

Walrus Gumboot - Princesslolly006@yahoo.com (I made the name when I was in 7th grade )
Alright, TheVines3112@msn.com 6th grade's when I made it. Wow, I never knew The Doors covered Who Do You Love, Bo Diddleys version is one of my favorite songs. I love Bo Diddley it'll be a shame when him and Chuck Berry die. Or any CR legend for that matter. |
Is "Yesterday" really the most covered song? I can't think of one artist that has.
It is, even though I've never heard anyone's version of it, I'm sure it is. |
Well I don't won't to just go by someone's word on the internet. I need proof. (link?) Where did you hear that anyway?
|
Do you guys like Blue Cheer? They are an AWESOME power trio from the 60's.

As I said before, I got it from The Beatles Anthology. I would think that's credible. I'm too lazy to search for a link, maybe later. |

I've read it in multiple books about The Beatles. Here's a link:http://www.songfacts.com/detail.lasso?id=82 |
I just learned Yesterday a few minutes ago. There's one more for the cover list :p

I don't know how it works, but I'm sure it does. ethanrodkin@gmail.com I heard that statistic about Yesterday as well, but I've never heard a Yesterday cover. Overall, I'd say Bob Dylan is probably the most covered artist though. At least, in terms of rock and roll. |

I have Vincebus Eruptum and it's nothing to get excited about but they were one of the first Hard Rock bands out there so I do respect them for that. I just bought Over-nite Sensation by Zappa and the Mothers. Has anyone in here heard it? I would listin myself but my mom hates him so much. First CD I've bought in half a year. *internet pirate  * :upset: |

Guaranteed I was a bigger AC/DC fanboy than you are/were/every will be. Then I got into Zeppelin and was a Zeppelin fanboy, not as hardcore as with AC/DC because that's also when I got fully immersed into a lot of Classic Rock. Darn, I thought I was almost done my homework...I forgot about my Physics lab. This is depressing. |

The Grateful Dead also covered Who Do You Love live a few times.

I would hang out in this thread more..But It moves to fast for me lol.
Everyones handing out their emails...so wtf heres mine.. maveric_shades64@yahoo.com Do you think as time goes on...Bands like Nirvana, Metallica, or even Green Day will be considered Classic Rock? or do you think Classic Rock specifically describes that golden era of late 60's to late 70's rock? I'm just curious what you think because I'd hate to have bands like The Who, lumped with Blink 182. Or possibily in the future classic rock will be called classical much like Mozart and Beethoven are called today? |
No.
I think Classic Rock is the definition of the 60's and 70's.
I personally think so too. I'm just wondering what others may think.. So you think pop-punk bands will always be refered to pop-punk, grunge bands will always be refered to that..etc, etc..? When did the term Classic Rock really emerge anyway? How old must something be before it's considered "Classic"..? |
I hope that eventually there will be separate categories to differentiate between what we call classic rock now and what will be "old" rock in 20 years.
|
The term "classic rock" originated in the 90s because music had seriously changed since the 60s and 7 and there was absolutely nobody making those sounds during the 90s. There hasen't been any Cream sound-alikes for 25 years.
I hope that eventually there will be separate categories to differentiate between what we call classic rock now and what will be "old" rock in 20 years.
Classical will be considered Ancient. ;) |
