Anyone heard of Savoy Brown? My dad has Street Corner Talking, and he played me a blues jam from it. It was fantastic. They're one heavy blues band.

BludgeonySteve 05-19-2005 06:07 PM

I haven't but blues jams are always coo ;)

RobNY 05-19-2005 06:13 PM

Holy crap guys, I hit the mother lode! :thumb: I found my dad's stash of albums. Live at Fillmore East, Eat a Peach, Tommy, American Pie, a crapload of Pat Metheny (who my dad apparently loves), tons of Doobie Brothers, stuff from Yes, Crosby Stills Nash and Young, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers... and much more. Heh. Excuse me, I've got that music I was looking for.

BludgeonySteve 05-19-2005 06:15 PM

nice ;)

all of my parents' good stuff is on vinyl and I don't like to sit down and listen to a record player :(

RobNY 05-19-2005 06:37 PM

Just finished side one of Eat a Peach. Ridiculously good, of course.

I suppose our sound system isn't too great, but, the music makes up for it. Heh.

What's a bit ridiculous to me is how expensive it would be for my dad to practically update his music collection. Just thinking how much it would run him to replace all his music with CDs. Yikes.

lunch998 05-19-2005 06:46 PM

At least you found Tommy.

MalcolmYoungRock 05-19-2005 06:54 PM
At least you found Tommy.
I somehow knew you were gonna say something like that.

lunch998 05-19-2005 06:54 PM

I think everyone in here probably knew I was going to say that.

Woodstock 05-19-2005 06:59 PM

I would love to sit down and listen to my Dad's vinyl. He has a Swiss record player and speakers taller than me. All this along with about 400 vinyl classics.

(Yes Lunch, he has Tommy)

lunch998 05-19-2005 07:00 PM

I was just about to make sure....

Woodstock 05-19-2005 07:02 PM

My Dad has quite a few rare records. Many original prints, and some with "direct to the master disc" recording. It's like CD quality on vinyl.

It's not really popular

Dude, everyone's whipped out their tye-die shirts and say they love zeppelin and the who, but when questioned on their favorite zeppeling song or who song, it's always the same.. Stairway to Heaven.. or Pinball Wizard, undoubtedly good songs, but there are few people our age who truly appreciate the music. It's become a fad, vintage is popular. Jeans are sold with pre-made holes.. everyone's just trying to be cool. But by the end of the day, they'll all be on to the next big thing, and we'll be left enjoying the truly brilliant music they pretended to love.

Today I got The Rolling Stones-Their Satanic Majesties Request, and so far it is pretty kickass.

Country rock along the lines of what?

lunch998 05-19-2005 07:21 PM

It would be nice if new people here just slid themselves into the conversation at some point. But oh well, this one is a lot better than others we've dealt with in the past.
