Their site has everything they've done for free.

Beneath The Massacre is horrible. Their songs have some crazy awesome technical elements in them, but the band needs to learn how to write better. They rely on C chords and breakdowns a bit too much...

I think they're amazing, but the breakdowns go on a bit too long.

Can someone recommend me an album by Demilich?

Awesome... Thank you so much. I've heard good things about Demilich, especially about the vocals.

I guess I couldn't find it on Bit Torrent because it was already being legally released for free :p.

EDIT: I'm just listening to the first song on Nespithe, and wow! Those vocals are pretty low. Can he pull that off naturally, or is he using a pitch shifter?

Apocalyptic Raids 06-07-2006 08:08 PM

It sounds natural to me.

Riva 06-08-2006 02:14 AM

It's a nice, natural burp. And Demilich are bloody brilliant.

Ve Das 06-08-2006 06:32 AM

Antii does it naturally. BTW, last I heard was they´re touring again.

Anywho, to the metal recommendation wanter(random something):

Black Sabbath is metal. Not hard rock.Anybody who tries to tell you otherwise is lying.

further in that vein would be:

Orange Goblin
Electric Wizard
Krux
Cathedral(sometimes)

Other stuff would be:

Kreator
Overkill
Scorpians-Feel The Heat
Mago De Oz
Motörhead
Edguy
Believer
Gordian Knot
Dark Tranquility

lamb_of_goddrummer 06-08-2006 04:02 PM

Liked guitars and drums and everything with demilich, just can't stand those vocals, they're boring in my opinion.

I think the gurgling vocals are good, but I do wish there was more variation in them because they get a bit repetitive.

I was just listening to Damage Done again today, some of the songs on there are brilliant.

lamb_of_goddrummer 06-08-2006 07:18 PM

I don't know if anyone has heard of that sikth band, but someone had a thread about them, I checked out their link. That music really tripped me out, the vocals weren't really anything special, but everything else was awesome. Actually kind of reminds me of Soilwork, come to think of it in kind of a weird way.

AA-12 06-11-2006 10:53 AM

I need some good stoner "metal"/sludge. Similiar to the bands Black Sabbath has inspired. Electric Wizardish I guess.

Clutch
Kyuss
Eyehategod

I can't think of any more at the moment...

AA-12 06-11-2006 11:52 AM

I listen to Clutch, but I don't really like Kyuss. I'll check out eyehategod though. Thanks.

Shattered_Future 06-11-2006 11:53 AM

No prob.

Bartender 06-11-2006 12:06 PM

Crowbar
Corrosion of Conformity
Goatsnake (apparently)
Burning Witch (apparently)
Teeth of Lions Rule the Divine (apparently)
Yob
Boris
Sleep
Halfway to Gone
Reverend Bizarre
Nebula

to varying degrees.

AA-12 06-11-2006 12:07 PM

Thanks a bunch man.

Bartender 06-11-2006 12:15 PM

Hopefully they won't all be useless.

hallowed_ironmaiden 06-11-2006 05:25 PM

IS the new sepultura cd any good, Dante XXI? I am a big fan, and I was thinking about getting their new cd. I have heard Convicted in life, and I liked that one.

I haven't listened to it, but it has a few good reviews on Metal Archives. He thinks Roots was an abomination, so I'd say he's unbiased.
Clutch

I've never seen how Clutch and Kyuss are really sludgy stoner metal like everyone says they are.

penelope weird hands 06-14-2006 05:52 AM

OK, I would like to hear some quality metal.
I am a metal noob, and would like to expand my musical horizons.
I don't really care about what metal sub-genres anyone suggests but look at my 'likes' so far. Some bands I will mention aren't specifically metal, however, you can get a gist of what I'm more suited to at the moment.

Likes: Opeth, Tool, Porcupine Tree, In Flames, Dark Tranquility(somewhat), Mastodon, SiKth, Mr. Bungle, NIN, Alice In Chains, Faith No More, The Mars Volta.

I guess I would be looking at something very melodic and prog-like(for lack of a better term) from what I put down.. but any suggestions will be sincerely appreciated.

Ta.

EDIT: Oh yeah.. I don't mind growl and scream vocals so don't let that hinder suggestions.

EDIT #2: Shjt.. I forgot.. I need some album/song recommendations of the bands you list because I'm on dialup. :/

Apocalyptic Raids 06-14-2006 06:02 AM

Check out some Judas Priest and Iron Maiden, if you haven't already.

Shattered_Future 06-14-2006 07:34 AM
I've never seen how Clutch and Kyuss are really sludgy stoner metal like everyone says they are.
Well, they're stoner metalish. Not very sludgy, but still somewhat.

munky_magik 06-14-2006 07:38 AM
Well, they're stoner metalish. Not very sludgy, but still somewhat.
Clutch = metalish?

Shattered_Future 06-14-2006 07:38 AM

STONERISH! That's the main point I'm getting at here...oy vey.

munky_magik 06-14-2006 08:04 AM

I see. I would just class them as rock.

Riva 06-14-2006 06:11 PM

Yes, as would I. That's my point.

Shattered_Future 06-14-2006 06:12 PM

All right then. I'd still think they have somewhat of a stoner sound, but that's just me...

purplepixelman 06-14-2006 11:32 PM

for stoner...also check out
sofa king killer - lust crime and holiness ep
bongzilla - gateway, and amerijuanica

Tyler 06-14-2006 11:33 PM

Clutch dont sound like Stoner-Rock at all to me.

lamb_of_goddrummer 06-15-2006 08:28 PM

Penolope here are some suggestions:
Chimaira, Lamb of God,Children of Bodom, At the Gates,Black Label Society, As I Lay Dying,Arch Enemy,Devildriver,God Forbid, Fear Factory,Himsa, The Haunted,Kalmah,Metallica,Ozzy Osbourne,Pantera,Shadows Fall,Slayer,Soilwork,Soulfly, Thine Eyes Bleed, Trivium,Unearth.
