It's Volume/Treble/Mid/Bass. The bridge is going to be exchanged for a wider ABM bridge, and the preamp is going to be changed for a Aguilar OBP-3 Preamp. I can't decide if I'd like a stacked volume/Treble/Mid/Bass (stacked volume for each pickup) or have them add another knob, so it's Volume/Balancer/Treble/Mid/Bass.

Foxfire 08-28-2004 03:40 PM

Nevermind, it's Volume/Blend/Treble/Bass. Guess I'll need a Mid added when I go to get the preamp changed. :p

Crapdragoon 08-28-2004 03:44 PM

you know what tastes good togeather? pep pizza and squirt.

Bass+Fingers+Amp=Groove 08-28-2004 03:48 PM

Me, foxfire, and Crapdragoon, we are The 0404 gang

Foxfire 08-28-2004 03:51 PM

Hmm. You know what sounds is awesome is a low B.

That reminds me, this video of a guy from Norway has a technique sort of like mine, though I guess what I do is more like habit. I do this thing where I double slap. A lot. It's a bit irritating sometimes.

Bass+Fingers+Amp=Groove 08-28-2004 03:52 PM

left shoe is also in the club as well. :D

Bass+Fingers+Amp=Groove 08-28-2004 03:53 PM

Low B, depending on the amp, can sound like sex, or ****. the HZ -KHZ response is critical.

Crapdragoon 08-28-2004 03:53 PM

i wish i had a 5 or sixer :( i want a b to mess with, not so much a c though, but its always cool to have a sixer

Foxfire 08-28-2004 03:54 PM

Yep.

I'm a huge fan of the low B. Ever since I played an SR505 through an SVT-3 Pro + Ampeg SVT8x10 I've wanted it. :p

Jamie 08-28-2004 03:57 PM

woooo! good news for english that cant get broadband!

I just found this out! People all around the UK that cant get broadband at the moment because they are too far away from the nearest exchange will be able to get broadband from the 6th september! Basically what they are doing is boosting the signal of the line so it will reach 6km from the exchange, how brilliant!

Thanks bt (i never thought id say that)

Bass+Fingers+Amp=Groove 08-28-2004 03:59 PM

heh, really rant a 412 twelve cab, or a 410HLF and 118, i want it to be able to handle the low end nicely, but still cover the high end of the C.

Foxfire 08-28-2004 04:04 PM

Yeah. The 4x10HLF is sexy, and the 1x18, ohh those are some nice lows.

jamie: Yep, I'm disgustingly lucky.

My brother just came home with a hamster and it's making a noise like it's crying. o_O

Broadband exchanges boosted? That's good, I might be able to get 1meg. I only got Broadband this week, as BT only just decided that our little rural exchange was worth upgrading.

Bass+Fingers+Amp=Groove 08-28-2004 06:06 PM

hmm, i get T1 in 2 weeks.... :D

Jamie 08-28-2004 06:08 PM

Anyone fancy some CS once i get broadband? (well... anyone that plays!)

Foxfire 08-28-2004 06:09 PM

Meh. I was always more of a MOHAA guy...

PaulSimonon 08-28-2004 06:13 PM

I've got a (not so) fantastic story that just happened......

PaulSimonon 08-28-2004 06:53 PM

what Ampeg combos have been made in 1x15's in the past five years? any of them tube?

Foxfire 08-28-2004 06:58 PM

Tell the story!!

^ Two 1x15 combos, both solid state.

PaulSimonon 08-28-2004 07:10 PM

I didn't see the B-100r while I was on there thanks Foxfire.....

here goes.....

As I was putting a BTB 6-er back on the rack after playing it, I noticed a man helping out a father and son pick out a starter guitar. They were looking at an Ibanez GSR 200, and I worked up the courage (I'm shy in public) to tell them that it was a very versitile bass, and a great bass to start on. The father and son left with started package in hand, and the guy who was helping them and I came to start talking. He was looking at a Gallien-Krueger amp, a 150 watt 1x12 that was really small, probably a micro, and he asked me if I had heard of the brand, and I explained that GK was a really well known and very good amp brand. I asked him what his current amp was, and he said it was an Ampeg 1x15, and he was getting a new amp because he didn't want to carry it, and he was looking to sell it if the GK forked for him, so I gave him my phone #......

New amp!!!!!!

PaulSimonon 08-28-2004 07:11 PM

That was the longest post I have ever made..... wow..... I haven't gotten the amp yet, he has to gig with the GK

e p 08-28-2004 07:27 PM

Nice deal Paul.

Hello all.

PaulSimonon 08-28-2004 07:31 PM

thanks EP.....I'm getting one either way, if he doesn't like the GK I'm gonna try to buy it too.... only 300$

e p 08-28-2004 07:38 PM

No problem. Good deal although I am completely oblivious to even the basic of bass equipment, I have no idea what a GK is but it sounds good.

PaulSimonon 08-28-2004 07:42 PM

Gallien Krueger, its an amp company, really nice amps too...... whichever amp I get I'll be happy as a small child stealing candy from a baby for the first time....

e p 08-28-2004 07:51 PM

Oh.

The main reason that I don't know equipment is probably because my dad (plays bass) gave me his old (70's maybe) Fender Tube amp. Its really nice and I haven't had to worry about getting an amp because of it.

Foxfire 08-28-2004 08:15 PM

Okay, our house flooded last night, and my cable is wet. Should I refrain from using it? I unscrewed the metal part and the area around the wire is a bit damp.

e p 08-28-2004 08:16 PM

Yeah my basement flooded too.

It's been very stormy and rainy here and is supposed to be for a while. Very dismal.

I would suggest against it being that its electric and wet.

Foxfire 08-28-2004 08:17 PM

Damnable Chicago weather...ah well, guess I'll use my crappy cable.

e p 08-28-2004 08:23 PM
Damnable Chicago weather...ah well, guess I'll use my crappy cable.
No don't.

Common sense says:
electricity+water=bad

Why even risk it if your cable is wet? The interior cuold be wet, you plug it in and it fries your cable/amp/you.

If its just damp then wipe it down with a cloth or something. It will be fine then. I'm just talking about if its really bad (like pools of water it's been sittin in). Perhaps I'm over reacting.

On a sidenote: my pool over flowed today from all the rain.

Foxfire 08-28-2004 08:37 PM

Nono I have another cable that came with my beginner bass that I'm going to use.

Crapdragoon 08-28-2004 08:58 PM

ugh wheres the mods when ya need em'?

crapdragoon for mod!

Bass+Fingers+Amp=Groove 08-28-2004 09:17 PM

i dont think mods can change the weather :p

self promotion = meh

Foxfire 08-28-2004 09:23 PM

I agree. :p

Out of boredom, I'm trying to write a 5 or 6 track bass solo. :p

Bass+Fingers+Amp=Groove 08-28-2004 09:28 PM

now that wouldnt realy be "solo" no would it
