Pink Floyd + Shrooms = Cliched Amazing Experience.

It's so much more intense, you have such a better understand of the music and so much more emotion.

…sometimes when you're high and you listen to a song it's like you're listening to it for the very first time.

when you're high, your state of mind is altered (in some ways for the worse, and in some ways for the better). so smokin some weed and listening to floyd or any kinda music is an entirely different perception and lens you see or hear things.

sometimes you can glean something from that and "bring it back with you" if you will to your normal state. of course, it's never necessary to be doing drugs. you really do feel like you have another sense and your ability to focus and see things in different ways is amplified. false delusions as these may be, it brings an entirely new experience.

my opinion anyway is that when your stoned your sense of music is a very differnt experience, when your really getting into it you can feel the tones through a somewhat tunnel vision splashing at you, the music swirling around the room and the intensity is raised very high
Why try it now? I’ve just had the experience drummed into my head with great detail over these last few pages :p

But you’re an enthusiastic lot, I’ll give you that. :smoke:

On another note, the Roger tix just came in, and now I have to get my friends to conjur up their $150 each. It's a hard task so far :( My parents paid the $750 on their credit card

Leper 11-30-2006 06:46 PM

When you're stoned, you tend to take pride in your personal experience and tell everyone about it on music forums.

BludgeonySteve 11-30-2006 08:56 PM

Even if you didn't do anything.

MBS 11-30-2006 09:00 PM

Aussie pink floyd was pretty rad. They're a good show, I think.

Was tonight for Detroit.. I had work.

I would have called off, but no-one wanted to go except me... I found out minutes ago like 4 people are like "WOW DID YOU GO THAT CONCERT? I WANTED TO GO."

/furious.

But Floyd is on PBS (Pulse) which is BA.

ghettoeddo 11-30-2006 11:00 PM

the aussie pink floyd is the light show??

MBS 11-30-2006 11:05 PM

No, it's an actual band. They play covers of Floyd songs. They did a STUNNING rendition of WYWH (the song) and DSOTM.

I really wish one of the Pink Floyd tribute bands would come here. I've heard nothing but good things about most of them.

rippa32 12-01-2006 07:21 PM

I went to that Aussie Pink Floyd website and had a listen to the samples, they sounded pretty good. Ill have to check em out when they come back to Australia.

I dont remember their name, but there is supposedly a really good Canadian tribute band that tours around all the time.

I'd imagine Winnipeg would be one of their stops.

ghettoeddo 12-02-2006 03:01 AM

ahhh ok

i wanna see the laser show one.

BludgeonySteve 12-02-2006 03:47 AM

The llaser show is so trippy. I loved it.

 those are some expensive tickets. Doesn't Pete Townshend have tickets around that $150 and up range?

Anyways, I wish I could see Roger or David. I'd prefer Roger, but either one would be great.

Txus 12-02-2006 05:56 PM

So..I finally bough an original copy of Animals

Same here. I feel like an idiot for not knowing about Roger's recent U.S. tour.

I'm getting really anxious to see a big venue concert and all I want to see is a member of Pink Floyd, Aussie Pink Floyd, a laser Floyd show or Nine Inch Nails. It's just not gonna happen, though.

Yeah. I just was suddenly reminded of the the laser show Floyd put on during the Pulse dvd. It was awesome on the dvd, and it must have been crazy live.

My parents were there ... Oh I am so so jealous ...
My parents were there ... Oh I am so so jealous ...
oh shi. mine too.
And yes, I hate them for it.

rippa32 12-02-2006 10:30 PM

I don't think much of that show. Too many session musicians and no Roger.

AnyColour74 12-02-2006 11:01 PM

Roger actually went to one of those shows. Gilmour invited Roger to play on one of the songs during Dark Side, but being Roger, he refused. Though the dvd is already kick ***, it would be even better if they played something from Animals.
My parents were there ... Oh I am so so jealous ...
Dude, that's awesome. I wish I had been there, but I don't think I would have liked it at the age of two.
I don't think much of that show. Too many session musicians and no Roger.
That was my only problem I found with it, although the bassist that was playing with them (Guy Pratt, I think it was) seemed talented. Although I liked Run Like Hell, his vocals added to it did not appeal to me.

 ^^ okay, so that wasn't the only problem I found with it. I was really wanting them to start playing some stuff from Animals; because, along with The Wall, that's my favorite one.

TheMisterBungle 12-02-2006 11:36 PM

Has anyone ever played "One of These Days" in a creepy situation?
It's fun.
I did it when driving on a dirt road in the country and it was incredibly dark out. It was fucking awesome.

Apocalyptic Raids 12-02-2006 11:44 PM

One of These Days is one of my favourite Floyd tracks.

TheMisterBungle 12-02-2006 11:46 PM

Me too most definitely.

rippa32 12-02-2006 11:52 PM

Haha I can see what you mean. Especially waiting for those vocals to come along.

Yield 12-02-2006 11:54 PM

Yeah, that would be cool. Or what about playing On The Run just to scare the crap out of people.

For example, here's a scenario:

You call a friend to come over to the house and take care of the pets or something like that because your away. But your not really away of course.
Remove all the light bulbs so it's scary as hell in the house. Then all the lights are off, and when they in the house start the music.

This is definitely a pointless situation and probably wouldn't work.

edit: One Of These Days is one of my favorite floyd songs.

I like when kids first listen to the whales having sex part of Echoes. They are all "WTF!?"

I must not have listened to the echoes very well, because whenever someone says that, I don't get it.

rippa32 12-03-2006 12:18 AM

Its the interlude about halfway in the song. You know the one that makes you think that if theyd taken it out there might have been room on the album for another song.
