I'm listening to Let It Be...Naked for the first time. I think I like this Across the Universe better, but I'm not sure yet.
It's definitely a better version. |
One of my favorite riffs is to Hey Bulldog.
Me too. |
I just bought a cool Beatles shirt. it's black wth a picture of them from The White Album period, with The Beatles written in white and Beatles written all over it in blue. It's pretty cool.

the sitar makes it so much better |
Hello everybody, I'm unsure if anyone has posted this yet but...
At 2:54 in Hey Jude if you listen very closely you can hear John say O ****ing Hell in the background, this is because that he missed his vocal part and everyone else hit it. I just thought that was a nice tidbit of info... |
It's been posted but it was a while ago. John's great.

I think it's better. I love the ending to thsi version, like a fade away with echoes while John sings 'Ja Guru Deva.' Awesome. |
Actually, I thought it was because Phil Spector happened to walk into the studio at that moment.....
|
Does anyone here has the picture of George Harrison playing a Fender Jazz Bass during the Abbey Road sessions? I've been searching for that picture and can't find it anywhere.
|

 ....... Are you serious? |
Heh, and Spector later produced Plastic Ono Band and imagine for John :D
|
Do you have a 4-track and a program like audacity on your comp?
No, I don't, just a crappy mic and the windows "sound recorder" Maybe I could download something. If I have to buy it there is no way, the nearest Staples is 45 minutes from here :upset: |

It's in the Anthology Book, I could scan it for you later today. |

And those are both incredible. Plastic Ono Band is one of the greatest cds of all time IMO. And Imagine is awesome too, although it is not as consistently strong as Plastic Ono Band. |
I think Spector produced "All Things Must Pass" too
Why/when did they ditch George Martin? |
I'd have to check the Anthology for when/why they ditched him, but I know they called him up to produce Abbey Road.
|
Malcolm..... No, not serious....just me warped sense of humour......
|
Martin was never really ditched in the true sense. When they created Apple, after the death of Brian Epstein, Alan Klein was brought in to run Apple. He looked good in the beginning on paper, but proved to be the wrong choice for managing. I think he brought Spector on board.

Hopefully it hasn't been posted before. |
It was posted on last page but boy that is amazing I love the guitar in it and that guy playing it was damn good.
|
Dam that guy is incredible at the ukelele. He did that on only four strings
|
What happened to George Martin was this. The Beatles started the whole Get Back thing (later renamed Let it Be). The plan was that it would be a live album, so even though Martin was the supervising producer, John told him that 'none of your production rubbish' was needed.
Anyways, after it all was finished, the Beatles and George Martin all turned their complete attention to a new album, which would become Abbey Road. The Beatles then asked Glyn Johns to compile an album for the film, but the album was then rejected after being given several release dates (this is the one called Get Back). Then came in Phil Spector, took the recordings, added Accross the Universe and I Me Mine to the album, because the Beatles can be seen playing this songs during the sessions. And that's how it all happened. And Woodstock, it would be great if you could. I have that pic in two books, but none of them are good enough for a scan, or at least not for what I wanted it for. =D |
I Wanna Hold Your Hand movie is on Much More Music right now.
|
George Martin was still around during Let it Be he can be seen in the movie, and he plays the shaker on Dig It.
|
I think the White Album is one of my top 3 albums of all-time.
/bump |
I hate to be a negative Nancy but I was never really impressed with the White Album. I can't even say why, just something I mean its mostly Disc 1 I dislike with 4-5 exeptions. I've always been more of a Rubber Soul guy.
|
I like all Beatles. Rubber Soul was the first album by them I owned. Sentimental value + good music makes it one of my favorites too. The White Album seems to be hit or miss to a lot of people. It has some weak spots, but it also has a ton of incredible songs.
edit- 666  Needs to listen to death and doom metal now lol. |
My favorite Beatles albums, in this order, are Abbey Road, Sgt. Pepper's, MMT, White Album, and Revolver.
These are the only one's I have. |
Mine would be:
White Album Rubber Soul Abbey Road Revolver MMT Sgt. Pepper's Let it Be...Naked Let it Be Help 1 With the Beatles I love them all though. |
