iommi is kinda important

sabbathfan37 03-03-2005 05:08 PM

like brum and i just said, Iommi is black sabbath. Heck, Iommi is heavy metal.

Brew 03-03-2005 05:44 PM

I heard a quote the other day: ''Black Sabbath are hard rock, Judas Priest, now they're Heavy Metal!''

Pretty much says it all about who 'invented' Heavy Metal, the Brummie band that is: Judas Priest. Iommi just created hundreds of heavy riffs.

I'm off to sleep, night all

I agree that Iommi got black sabbath where they were in turns of "writing" music. But I deffinetly think Ozzy lifted them off the ground because of his natural energetic talent at gigs. Whatch a sabbath dvd and whatch Iommi, He does NOT move, Ozzy gets the crowd goin nuts.

Also take this into consideration, they did soo well with Ozzy, and when they got rid of Ozzy, Sabbath went downhill. And Ozzy made his own band and continued being huge.

I think Butler was the strongest member of Sabbath. I think his bass drove a lot of the songs. And I belive he wrote lyrics too.
(just my opinion.

IMO I think they were all equal, noone really stood out. without bills fills, iommis solos, geezer's bass lines, or ozzy, they would be totally differnet

True they are one of the few perfect bands out there.

CrateElectrabass 03-03-2005 08:35 PM
.

Its all true, Sabbath = Iommi, 'nuff said.
no Black Sabbath = Butler, Iommi, Ward, and Osbourne. that is the only Black Sabbath there will ever be.

Yes, Sabbath has one of the more recognisable bass lines of any band.

rippa32 03-04-2005 03:49 AM

And Iommi wasnt the only to create those riffs. Geezer had a huge part in that as well as his lyrics.

astrangerinthenight 03-04-2005 04:11 AM
Not Sabbath related.

Geezer didn't really come up with his own riffs, he pretty much followed iommi, although he did write mosta the lyrics
Geezer didn't really come up with his own riffs, he pretty much followed iommi
He wrote some, like Spiral Architect that was all him, he just told Tony what to play.

Dude, put your usertitle as ''R.I.P Randy Rhoads'' before I flame you somemore.

And to save on a triple post...

Kurt98 or whatever your name is, after Sabbath Sacked Ozzy for drink and drug abuse, they left the mainstream. They did not go downhill musically, they just lost their spot in the mainstream and lost general popularity.
I miss my neg rep button :(
Same here there have been about 4 people I have wanted to neg rep today :upset:

rippa32 03-05-2005 11:25 PM

I think people just say that it isn't sabbath after ozzy because at times Iommi was the only original member left. Even Geezer complained about still calling themselves Black Sabbath when only him and Iommi were the last remaining original members. It's actually the reason he left (Not too sure, but I am pretty sure I heard it somewhere)

shadow_stalker 03-06-2005 08:20 AM

Ok we need a new conversation direction.

So...what does everyone/anyone think of 'the eternal idol' album?
BLACK SABBATH's concert in Oslo, Norway sold out in less than an hour after tickets went on sale Saturday morning (Feb. 19). SABBATH's original lineup — Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward — are scheduled to play at the 8,000-capacity Oslo Spektrum on Thursday, July 7. Support at the show will come from VELVET REVOLVER. The legendary heavy metal band's July 3 concert in Stockholm, Sweden also reportedly sold out in less than an hour when the tickets went on sale last Monday.
