I have never seen Opeth live, but I do own Lamentations. If I saw them live and they played like they did on the dvd, I would want my money back. Sorry, but everything was just too perfect. Every song sounded just like the recorded version. I would prefer them to play their songs different live. That's just me though.
I thought it wasn't quite like the recorded version, mainly because they lacked some of the harmonies that made the melodic songs so memorable. The guy on keyboard filled in on some but he couldn't have quite the same effect...Beyond that, I liked it...I wish they would've included Bleak, though. |
wow.............The biggest mod i've never heard of? :amaze:

I saw Opeth live a few hours ago at tinley park...i love the band, it's too bad the sound at the tweeter center is such sh1t
You mean the kewlest.
Hey fools how many dollar bills is Lamentations?
yes, because those words roughly have the same amount of letters at first glance. from now on, if i call you a wanker i really mean friend ok? EDIT: sorry dude, i'm still in pain, thus in a crabby as hell mood:( |
I've been listening to Opeth lately and really enjoying a lot of it. Only problem is I'm not a very big fan of death metal. So I was wondering if you guys might be able to reccomend me some stuff without much of the growling vocals. I already have ****ation, so anything else I'd really appreciate.

Check out the track The Drapery Falls. That has more clean vocals than death (correct me if I'm wrong) and that really helped me to get into them. |
In Sereintiy Painted Death (Opeth) there is an acoustic riff with this werid effect over the top at 4:01 which is directly copied and sounds excatly the same as a riff out of the music for the computer game starcraft.
Go listen. |
To bid you farewell
Credence Benighted Face of Melinda Harvest Patterns in the ivy 2 Still day beneath the sun Try the above for clean vocals, if you want something with a good mix and which sounds awesome, try these The Moor When Bleak Deliverance Drapery falls Moonlapse Vertigo |

 Lucky bastard!!! Anyways, I love the DVD. I'm also a drummer, and Martin Lopez was freakin' SMOKING, esp. on the ****ation tracks (much more interesting playing to begin with...he's a great metal drummer, don't get me wrong, but he's a much better prog drummer.) |

You have your two clean verses, then the really heavy stuff. It's a great song though, and even if you're not a growling fan (as I'm not), you'll probably like it. |
Has anyone here heard any Morningrise/Orchid songs live? if so do they sound alot different than the record because I was wondering what songs like Nectar or In The Mist She Was Standing might sound like live since they're not that great of quality on the first 2 albums.
|
Have not heard Morningrise/Orchid songs. I've only seen the Lamentations and subsequent tour stop in D.C. The 2nd show was mostly Deliverance, Blackwater with a song or two from MAYH and SL. But I did get a chance to catch Face of Melinda from SL which seems to be fairly rare.
I'm wondering if anyone knows any of the songs from the current set-list on the "sounds of the underground tour". Are they playing much new stuff? Just curious. |
Yeah they have played The Grand Conjuration and their main concert songs.. Demon of the Fall and Drapery Falls.. along with Deliverance and To Rid The Disease.

I was just wondering if this is the part Steven Wilson is doing in Bleak
Devious movements in your eyes Moved me from relief Breath comes out white clouds with your lies And filters through me You're close to the final word You're staring right past me in dismay A liquid seeps from your chest And drains me away |
half correct:)
