Hi Stoic - is that your scary halloween banana avatar?

You can send me a track if you like
tsarbeauty@aol.com

Cheers Dene

Stoic 10-30-2005 06:03 AM

Rumboy, always willing to discover new music! SENT

Bananas shall conquer the world, feel free to join teh crew and become a loyal liegeman of teh mighty master of teh mighty bananas (=me)!

Kronos 10-30-2005 06:10 AM

Cheers Stoic - downloading it now.

Funny thing, my imaginary DJ name is WangMaster Banana..:D

Kronos 10-30-2005 07:22 AM

Right I've listened to it a couple of times, it's pretty good. Reminds me riff-wise of Priest, though I think the vocals in the chorus would benefit from being beefier.
Is that track representative of the whole album, or is it by far the best one on there?
Might be worth checking out. :)

As another bit of band-whoring, anyone out there heard of, or got any stuff by Twilightning?
They're yet another finnish power metal band ( I reckon that 50% of that countries population must be in a metal band of some sort!) who remind me a lot of Sonata Arctica. Obviously, the singer doesn't sound like Tony Kakko - no-one does...
I'll upload a couple of tracks on YSI today, if anyone wants 'em just email me
tsarbeauty@aol.com

Go on, give it a try; you never know - you might even like it
:)

Lord Abortion 10-30-2005 07:32 AM

Actually, I think I may have heard Grave digger before, I have certainly heard OF them...

NP-BLAZE-kill and destroy(not PM, but I care not, it's awesome)

Stoic 10-30-2005 08:05 AM

You have an e-mail Rumboy. That Grave Digger song is quite representative. The album is certainly worth checking :)

Kronos 10-30-2005 08:31 AM

You have one too Stoic.

Another one later....:thumb:

Shattered_Future 10-30-2005 09:25 AM

You got another email Dene. :D

Anything that sounds like Sonata Arctica is ok in my book.

Kronos 10-30-2005 09:45 AM

You have it now!

BTW, these two tracks I'm offering aren't exactly the most SA sounding ones - if anything they're quite a lot like Stratovarius IMO, but the more SA ones are much longer, and as a dial-up user they'd take forever to upload!

These two tracks rock, anyway. And they are a bit SA-ish to boot

Malekith2005 10-30-2005 09:49 AM

Speaking of SA (my 2nd fave band ITW), I picked up a album of oddities on import if anyones interested. It's called "Takatalvi". The Scorpions cover is pretty rockin'
Enquiries to belfing@aol.com

Shattered_Future 10-30-2005 09:56 AM

Hmmm...Stratovarius is usually hit or miss for me.

O well...I'll give them a try later.

Malekith, I'd like that...wasn't that Sonata's first EP?

Yeah that's right mate. It's actually a mix of their EP "Successor" and the "Broken" single. I'll be happy to oblige you with e-mail.
Bear with me a moment..........

Stoic 10-30-2005 10:10 AM

Rumboy...it's a world wide conspiracy against you, the second link gave me a runtime error :( I didnt know you're still on 56k, it takes 50 mins to upload a song!

Anyway, I listened to the first song and I must say it's quite typical SA like euro power yet vey enjoyable as it has power and intensity (the lead guitar-key interaction owns!). Not bad at all, I'll certainly look for some more on their official site and/or soulseek :)

Kronos 10-30-2005 10:12 AM

Booo! Nasty internet... I'm gonna try the link for myself. Be back in a mo...

Kronos 10-30-2005 10:17 AM

Bugger it, Stoic - you're right. I will not be defeated - I'll just do it again...
Will advise when done, and I'll test it myself first..

/goes off muttering to self

no, no, no! I know what 56k means (I had had it for 6 years!), you dont need to upload it, just tell me which track it is so that I can find it on soulseek and then upload it :)

Kronos 10-30-2005 10:25 AM

It's Gone To The Wall, from the album Delerium Veil (2002)

PS, if you find that album OK - my track 2 "At The Forge" is corrupted for some reason, and won't play on my PC at all - if you download that one, could ya send me a YSI link?

Stoic 10-30-2005 10:27 AM

alright, I hope I'll be lucky with soulseek and dcc++

Takatalvi is a great album, lots of cool songs, I want out and shy being the pick for me...

What does the NP thing mean?

Forgive my slowness

Stoic 10-30-2005 10:54 AM

Now Playing ;)

I'm downloading gone to the wall!

Actually I've found both of the songs you mentioned but I'll upload them a bit later since Im tired now.

Gone to the Wall is not as impressive as the other track is :(

Yeah,it is very good. The original version of San Sebastian I think is better than the remake on "Silence". Wasn't "I Want Out" a Helloween song originally? Could be wrong, but it's a great cover nonetheless.
"Shy" is a nice little song, but I think Tony has some issues with members of the opposite sex. Women tend to get the ****ty end of the stick in his songs!

Huber 10-30-2005 12:30 PM

The new DragonForce rocks balls. I have to get this album when it coes out.

Shattered_Future 10-30-2005 12:44 PM

I Want Out was a Helloween cover, yes. They did a great job with it.

The new Dragonforce I thought was more of the same...yet it still hasn't lost its intensity on me in small doses. :D

Malekith2005 10-30-2005 01:09 PM

I've got "Sonic Firestorm". I don't like it very much, too fast and too much guitar-widdling just for show. But hey, each to their own!
However,it makes a good soundtrack to play Dawn Of War to on my PC :)

Lord Abortion 10-30-2005 03:35 PM

Haha, I could tell by your username you were a Warhammer player...

I didn't think I want out was a cover of the Helloween song...they sound pretty different to me...

Shattered_Future 10-30-2005 03:39 PM

Maybe we're thinking of 2 different things then...Sonata Arctica definately did a cover of I Want Out by Helloween.

Kronos 10-31-2005 02:24 PM

Ghoulies and Ghosties, and Long-leggedy Beasties, and things that go BUMP in the night...

Halloween bump there.

Where is everyone? It's like the Mary Celeste round here..

Stoic 10-31-2005 03:18 PM

Do non american people actually celebrate halloween?

/ignorance ++

Kronos 10-31-2005 03:31 PM

Yeah, we do. More so now than years ago. Any excuse to drink :chug:

We'll nick anyone's ideas
