SLAYER's KERRY KING: DAVE MUSTAINE Is A Dictator - July 9, 2004

In a brand-new interview with Guitar World magazine, SLAYER's Kerry King spoke about the time he spent in MEGADETH as the band's touring/live guitarist. Asked how he thinks MEGADETH would have turned out if he had stayed in the group, Kerry replied, "I played their first five shows, and if I had stayed I probably wouldn't have lasted more than a year, because [MEGADETH frontman] Dave Mustaine is such a dictator and had much poppier ideas than me. It never would have worked. Jeff [Hanneman, SLAYER guitarist] and I used to go see METALLICA and be blown away by how awesome Mustaine was, so I was honored when the call came asking me to help him. But after five shows, I was like, 'I'm in SLAYER and that ain't going to change." That didn't go over too well."

If you go on blabbermouth you cant move for topics on mustaine, megadeth or metallica.

Nah, man, that's part of its appeal: making it the longest thread on MX. It's got history to it!

More get thrashed Clips

The makers of "Get Thrashed", the upcoming documentary profiling the thrash metal scene of the early Eighties and its impact on the music scene, have posted two more preview clips via www.GetThrashed.com (in the "Media" section). The first clip features VIO-LENCE frontman Sean Killian discussing the "purity" of thrash while the second clip includes several guest appearances discussing the San Francisco club scene in the early days of the thrash movement.

As previously reported, filming for "Get Thrashed" was recently completed and the show is currently being edited. Post-production should be completed this fall, with an air date and location to follow soon after.

"Get Thrashed", the brainchild of director Rick Ernst, a longtime freelance producer for MTV, will include interviews with METALLICA, SLAYER, ANTHRAX, EXODUS, GODSMACK, DISTURBED, SEVENDUST, TESTAMENT, OVERKILL, DEATH ANGEL, SHADOWS FALL, MESHUGGAH, IN FLAMES, STRAPPING YOUNG LAD, STONE SOUR, SUPERJOINT RITUAL, LAMB OF GOD, VIO-LENCE, KREATOR, NUCLEAR ASSAULT, VOIVOD, CHIMAIRA, BIOHAZARD, FOZZY singer/WWE superstar Chris Jericho, SEPULTURA, KITTIE, THE HAUNTED, D.R.I., SOILWORK, KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, HEATHEN, Brian Slagel, Jon & Marsha Zazula, authors Ian Christe ("Sound of the Beast") and Steven Blush ("American Hardcore"), NY metal radio DJ Eddie Trunk, "Radio Rampage"'s Ron Quintana, as well as unsigned thrash bands OSMIUM, CONCRETE COFFIN and VISCID.

DimebagDarrell 07-11-2004 04:42 AM
i havent got either but i would go with ultra violence, you cant really flaw thrash debuts
thats what i was thinking but act 3 is 6.99 and ultra violence is 13.99 hmmm its a tricky choice i could do with hearing more really

DisposableHeroes 07-11-2004 04:47 AM

well act 3 is supposed be their greatest, kinda like how metallica had master of puppets, slayer had reign in blood etc.

JMetallica 07-11-2004 05:38 AM

I don't think you can get much more 'rated' than gene hoglan.

Get the ultra violence for sure, act III will get boring about 6 songs in. Although, you can't go past cheap cds :D... (i'f get them both)
