Everybody seems to be happy about expecting some Metallica for x-mas, i'm expecting a Chapman Stick, i just bought one at ebay.
 wow. Chapman stick>Metallica.

Kyle 12-20-2005 03:36 PM

I just bought A Jim Dunlop Wah pedal with some of the christmas money I recieved early, I will get my mum to wrap it up for christmas though. Excited :D How hard is it to get the hang of using one?

Jev 12-20-2005 04:18 PM

I don't know, don't you just move your foot up and down whilst playing? I should be getting one fairly soon.

Stormrider 12-20-2005 05:08 PM

I was supposed to ask a metal zone MT-2 dist. pedal for christmas, but i just asked for a foot swicth instead. I have a good amp and good distortion. My pick ups suck, so when i get my new guitar it will be okay, but still, Sometimes i wish I had asked for that MT-2 pedal instead...

Sorry, nothing to do with Wah pedals...

Jev 12-20-2005 05:13 PM

Switch pedal? heh, one came with my free marshall.

Stormrider 12-20-2005 05:16 PM
Switch pedal? heh, one came with my free marshall.
Yeah swith pedal, what I meant to say.

Im gunno wait a lil while before I get a new amp. I have no idea what to get though right now :/

Kyle 12-20-2005 05:20 PM

I prefer my distortion off my amp to the MT-2....but I'm terrible at setting the pedal to the right settings.

Stormrider 12-20-2005 05:22 PM

I tried the pedal at the music store with the amp i have AND the guitar i have. I liked what I got from it. Thats why im kind of regretting not asking for it.

Jev 12-20-2005 05:24 PM

I have a cheap Zoom Pedal. With a Fender Squier Strat it actually sounds pretty metal.

Kyle 12-20-2005 05:25 PM

I wasn;t putting the MT-2 down, I just can't use mine very well. Oh well I love the distortion on my Valvetronix...

Stormrider 12-20-2005 05:27 PM

I get a surprisingly good distortion with my Roland cube 15 amp. Too bad my pick ups suck. I cant wait to get my next guitar: an LTD ex-400. Probably what ill get still not positive.

Jev 12-20-2005 05:31 PM

Nice.
My next guitar's gonna be an Ibanez 7-string.

Stormrider 12-20-2005 05:34 PM

Ah cool. just curious...What do you play that needs a 7- string.

I wanted my next guitar to have a fixed brigde, because i dont use a floyd and its a hassle since i dont use one. Im more of a rythm person anyways.

Jev 12-20-2005 05:35 PM

Dream Theater stuff. Plus I like what I make up when I drop my guitar down to drop B. I'd like to be able to do that without making the strings all slacked and without losing the high e.

Oh ok. Slacked strings isnt a problem for me because the lowest I usualy tune it is E flat. I usualy play with 10-46 at that tuning, gunna try some 11-48's next time i change strings.

I love that pedal! Buy a power supply, such a waste of batteries

My strings are dull and old. I need some new EB's. (10's or if I really feel like hurting my fingers I'll get 11's)
Nice.

Mine will take a lot of thought. I want one with a very slick, thin fretboard and one that can easily reach a good bend on the 22nd. I also want no whammy and an possibly a preamp if i'm lucky (i know some basses come with them, but I don't know about guitars).

Sorry but Can you explain what a preamp is ?

Are you concetrated on leads or your more of a rythm guy ?

Preamp (I just learned this so don't kill me if I'm wrong) let's you plug your headphones into a guitar without needing an amp.

Definitely leads. Hence the bend on 22nd fret.

Ah okay thanks.

Well then since your a lead and all, wouldnt you rather a 24 fret neck ?

Joe 12-20-2005 07:12 PM

Possibly. That's what I'm working on the most. I've got a 24 fret Jackson now and I really don't like it. It's got a lock tuning system and a Floyd Rose tremelo whammy crap that's not very good and extremely hard to restring. The frets are too far out, so it's hard to go back and forth on the fretboard and if you bend:

E---10--
B---13--

all the way to get the same note they get off tune really easily. It's just a pain in the butt. I can't stand it. So it sits and collects dust which means I have to restring it again which I don't want to do. It's really crazy.

By the way, I bought it when Smells Like Teen Spirit was hard for me to play. Now when it's songs like Battery that is hard to play, I need something better. It'll take awhile before I can pick a new guitar.

And another BTW, it's not the 24 frets that makes me hate the Jackson. I'm thinking about an ESP/LTD or a really nice Strat

vashts80 12-20-2005 07:13 PM

A preamp section on your amp is the EQ section, same thing on a guitar or bass but to a lesser extent.

Oh I see. Floyds are a pain for me because as i said, i dont use them..so they become in the way. So since that one just sits there you siad, what do you use now ?

I hope i get my LTD...

I really like James' truckster but I don't want a custom guitar for someone else. I really like the diamond head style.

His truckster is ok IMO. Nothing in my future plans though. The EX-400 i want is awsome. It would be cool to get the one with the diamond plate but its over 100$ more with the diamond plate :/

But it's so cool...

I need one with easy access 22nd frets

vashts80 12-20-2005 07:35 PM

I was thinking about getting a custom ESP bass eventually built kinda similarly to Steve DiGiorgio's single, or double neck. See-through green F-body 5 string unlined fretless with EMGs on a koa body. If I got a double, it'd be the same specs, but one neck is fretless and the other fretted. This is all when I get a job first, and when I've made enough money to afford a new bass, and a decent rig if I ever started a band or joined a band in high school

Joe 12-20-2005 07:42 PM

I'd love to have a double. I wouldn't use it live or anything I think.

I need a job too. I just applied to two places and about to apply to the third (which I'll get because the references are so good) which should bring in some money. I need a pedal board at the moment, but eventually maybe before college I could buy myself a nice guitar

ummm... no. thats a headphone amp.:thumb:

a preamp might either be on your guitar/bass that shapes and eq's you tone. it might also be a seperate stompbox/rack-unit or simply the eq section on your combo or on a head.

Ok, well then my bassist informed me wrong :thumb:

I'd love one of those, my tone needs such work

mfb 12-20-2005 07:56 PM

hmmm... well how much moneyz do you have? i can try and help you out on the preamp problem.:thumb:
