So what you're saying is that they "perfected" a genre that was pioneered by the likes of Bad Company, Foghat, and AC/DC.

Bravo?
I think they kick Foghat and AC/DC's ***. And are a little better than Bad Company.

Skid Row and Hanoi Rocks amirite?
Never heard of them, I was thinking Black Crowes and I'm starting to like Black Keys a lot.

angusmaster 09-10-2005 04:26 PM

Ok,i wont use the smile thing as much in the future.

Glitterati 09-10-2005 05:12 PM

I'm not really a sports guy. It's not that I don't like it, I kind find it boring. I used to play baseball when I was younger, but I haven't in a long time.
NP: Elvis Costello - Alison, not really Classic Rock but pretty close.
Elvis Costello....nah, he's not really considered CR, but I think he's great.
Black Sabbath - Sweet Leaf
Uh...good to know.
I think they kick Foghat and AC/DC's ***. And are a little better than Bad Company.
I'd take GNR over AC/DC anyday.

Walrus Gumboot 09-10-2005 05:35 PM

I really don't see why anyone would ever want to listen to the Grateful Dead, I don't expect people to like them, I don't know why I like them, I don't know how I started liking them and I don't understand why they have such a huge following. I do love them though, and I tend to form deep unspoken bonds with other Deadheads (and CR fans, of course) and other various people that I wouldn't be friends with normally because they aren't in my grade/classes/school
Drugs.
You know it's bad when you like them without the drugs

I got my license today and I must say that the biggest bonus is that I can listen to Bob Dylan, the Dead, Bjork, Pink Floyd (They don't like Syd Barrett era) and Jefferson Airplane without turning it down or having to deal with dirty looks from my various family members

pohl_56 09-10-2005 06:34 PM

Speaking of 80s metal-whats everyone think of Cinderella, Quiet Riot, RATT, and Firehouse? All kick a** bands in my opinion. :)

Jacaranda 09-10-2005 06:37 PM

I'm just happy I wasn't in my teens in the 80's. *barf*

angusmaster 09-10-2005 06:37 PM

Dont like them,i only like round and round and thats about it.

They all suck, IMO.

Jacaranda - it wouldn't have been too bad; there was some great hip-hop in the 1980's.

Amanda - congrats on getting your license. When first got my license I would just drive around listening to music :)

I wish I was in my teens in the '80s. Only for the new wave, though, not for the hair-metal. I'm a sucker for good new wave.

I don't have to do that. My parents love my taste in music. My mother complimented me on the new Beck song I was listening to the other day, and I'm getting my sister into Belle & Sebastien.

EDIT- That's cool Canadian Guy (yeah, I still call you that :) ) My dad tries to get me to like bands like the GD and ELP until I start liking them, and then he gets all wierd

Well now that I think about it, it wasn't that bad Jane's Addiction were in the late 80's, plus my favorite Jeff Beck album came out in '89 (Guitar Shop)

NP: Fidy Cent - In My Hood, ...wait what?

I've been on a Odyssey and Oracle binge, such a perfect album.

nyah nyah :p

I don't do any driving because I'm away at college now so I don't have to complain about gas prices :p

NP: The Who - You Better You Bet

I always thought that Face Dances was better than most people gave it credit for. "You Better You Bet" alone is better than anything off of Who Are You, imo.

angusmaster 09-10-2005 06:47 PM

EightMilesHigh is Canadian guy,i didnt know that,he was the one with the little message that said dont look back in anger, right.

thickasabrick 09-10-2005 06:47 PM

I've just decided I'm going to learn Shelter From the Storm right now. I can't find my acoustic though...I always put it in weird places. I'm listening to Blood on the Tracks.

Being a teenager in the 80's would just make me want to be in the 60's and 70's even more. I have no desire to be in the 80's. I'll stay right where I am thank you. Although the 60's would be my first choice.

I love playing songs from Blood on the Tracks on guitar.

Living in the 1960's would be too traumatic for me (JFK, Malcolm X, MLK, RFK, those four little black girls who were killed in the Birmingham church bombing)

All I have is Hot Rats, *gasp* Trade?!

Willie the Pimp is such a catchy song, even without having any lyrics for like 5 mins.

Walrus Gumboot 09-10-2005 06:52 PM

Has anyone heard someone's usertitle in a song for the fisrt time and have a lightbulb go off? It's happened to me a few times lately

They just seem bland to me now. Although if I'm in the right mood I will put on some Kickstart My Heart or Live Wire.

dr._feelgood 09-10-2005 07:21 PM

No, is that any good? I heard they made it in the 90s when they were past their prime.

pohl_56 09-10-2005 07:26 PM

If you guys like 'Crue then I dont see why ya dont like RATT. They sound almost identical and RATT cam before CRUE.

Frank Zappa - Hot Rats
Just in time before I leave, enjoy! Be sure to listen to Willie the Pimp.
