All BM Burzum is essential Burzum, Det Som Engang Var is the best, with Hviss at 2nd. But honestly, all his BM stuff is excellent at worst.

I was the same it took me a while to get into Burzum until I just accepted that that was the point then it got pretty good.

drumming is probably the weakest part about burzum

The most amazing part of Burzum for me is probably the vocals in his early work, he has the most insane scream that I can think of.
