dental alginate =/= toothpaste

it's an impression material used for taking negative moulds to make casts and ****. I think different materials are used now anyways

So yeah, St. Patricks. Going out on a Rocksoc thing tonight, dressed as toki wartooth. Mainly cuz I look sorta like him anyway. Awesome.

I guess they do, cause I've had to have molds of my teeth taken at the dentist and that crap tastes nothing like root beer. Some weird taste to that crap.

P.S. - I think I want a Tele. For some reason I just can't stop looking at them as of late.

Dental stuff - pink when mixed, yellow when dry? Tastes slightly fruity? That's the new stuff that dentists use mtehinks, alginate's sorta older stuff. You only need to smell aliginate to known it'll taste like root beer.

Which is horrible, btw. Screw root beer.

Left Face Down 03-17-2010 10:19 AM

I would have described it more white than yellow, but yeah sounds like the stuff. Even if it is different, I still have to say don't bring out your dental nightmares on root-beer.

Seriously debating now:

Fender Standard Telecaster FSR Ash

VS.

Fender Deluxe Players Strat
http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Fender-Deluxe-Players-Stratocaster-Electric-Guitar?sku=511597

I need a job. :upset: Try to pull some early birthday B.S. but for the price I'm pretty much out of luck unless I come up with a good $300 of my own. Going up to Guitar-Center anyways. Need to buy strings, so I'll just pull some stuff down and play a little. See if any of it feels good or not.

The_Mop 03-17-2010 10:31 AM

Dental nightmares? :P I seriously just don't like the taste :P As far as it goes for teles v strats - if you want a slightly cheaper option the yamaha pacifica tele knockoffs are pretty ace, my old teach had one and it was awesome

Squirrel 03-17-2010 10:36 AM

Root beer tastes like germoline
if you want a slightly cheaper option the yamaha pacifica tele knockoffs are pretty ace, my old teach had one and it was awesome
I don't know if I could track one down. Gonna have to give the used section at GC a look. I was once tempted to buy an American w/ Lace sensors that was there for $700. Guitar was worth more, used or not. Didn't have Lace Golds so it was easier to walk away. Still sounded really good.

I've just found a good light gain setting on my amp, yeah hard to believe on a Peavey XXX. That and I have been playing a lot of older stuff where the guitarists were using strats. Though the tele was my initial wanting of a new guitar. Something just changed, I use to think they were ugly.

Ugh, still hate Guitar Center for driving 3/4 of the mom & pop and smaller national stores out of business in my area. Crap happened before the economy went to shit. So I can blame it all on GC.

They don't have a St. Patrick's day sale or anything do they? Still get a kick the last 5th of July sale they had I pretty much got my RG570 used for a steal. The guys at the desk didn't want to give it to me, but I hassled them because it was beat to shit.

Left Face Down 03-17-2010 01:57 PM

// Double Post

The Tele wasn't at GC. I tried out the Roadhouse Strat and the Deluxe Players Strat I linked above. Specs wise the big difference is the Deluxe has gold hardware and Vintage Noiseless while the Roadhouse has silver hardware and Texas Specials.

Of course the Roadhouse that was in the store looked and felt like a generic strat. I don't know if it is the maple board or what, the Deluxe Player in the store had a rosewood board. Though if I get a strat it'll probably have a maple board. The Deluxe Player definitely had a satin finish on the back of the neck. Though the Fender web site puts them both with satin finishes, the maple board doesn't feel smooth to me like the back of the rosewood board. Though obviously the back of the rosewood board is just a maple board.

So the feel tests Deluxe Player >>>>> Roadhouse
The sound test Roadhouse >>>>>> Deluxe Player.

The Texas Specials really have that nice bright strat sound that I'm after. The vintage noiseless had a hint of that sound, but sounded rather dull and basically didn't stand out to me. So if I can find a Fender that is basically the Deluxe Player with Texas specials it'd be perfect. I'm just afraid if I found a Deluxe Player with a maple neck it'd have the same finish as the Roadhouse.

There is just something I don't like about the maple necks. They feel very rigid, the best word I can come up with. Ugh, I hate life. I wanted to go Vintage Noiseless so I didn't have to replace the pups.
the feel tests Deluxe Player >>>>> Roadhouse
There's your answer tbh. You can always swap out the pickups if you don't like how it sounds.

Left Face Down 03-17-2010 02:17 PM
There's your answer tbh. You can always swap out the pickups if you don't like how it sounds.
That is what I was thinking. To be honest if I could track down a Deluxe Player with a maple board I'd be more solid on the decision. If I swap out the pickups they're going to go to Lace Sensor Golds though. :D

If the Deluxe Player with the maple fretboard still has that feel to it as the one with the rosewood then I can mess with the pickups later. I just hope that Deluxe Player isn't that 1/1000 that comes out of the factory better than the rest of it's kin.

I think I'm going to just wait until I get a job and try to save up for an American Strat. Damn crap comes with a hard shell case which has to be worth $200, a strap, cable, etc. etc.

Normally I wouldn't buy such a case, but I figure if I'm going to have to put new pickups in the damn thing, buy it a case, etc. etc. that is at least 3/4 of the difference between the two guitars. That and for some reason the Charcoal Frost Metallic really has caught my eye.

Need new friends. My friends practically demand we all drink ourselves stupid. Stupidity breeds more stupidity. If you don't have the initial stupidity then it can never grow through the group.

The other things, well you aren't the source of the stupidity any more. Some people would say that is a good thing. Maybe you are your groups source of stupidity and with out it your group just can't be as stupid as previous years.
