ndiswrapper? As far as I'm aware, this is only in regards to wireless (alot of companies use [i]specific[/i] features when dealing with wireless and Windows, and it's not always possibly to reverse engineer what they have done, so the effort was put into just using the Windows wireless drivers).

I have had problems finding the .inf version of my wireless drivers though, so my Ubuntu laptop doesn't have wireless... yet.

Yeah that's what I want it for so I can use the Ubuntu when I'm online as a virii protecta. Ta.

if you just google the type of wireless card you have plus linux at the end there'll probably be a tutorial

Drivers are written in C, but they are mainly asm "drop-ins" (basically embedded assembly), assembly is ****ing hard to code, and even harder to understand (not that it's impossible, but as a high-level developer, I don't deal with it normally, so I'm not used to it).

C by itself is somewhere in-between, it's the highest-level-low-level language.
An abstraction above assembly, but most modern languages are (several) abstractions above even C.
