What genre is Mobb Deep and what was that show on MTV or MTV 2 that showed urban music on Saturday or Sunday nights?
I would consider Mobb Deep hardcore rap. For the show, are you thinking of Yo! MTV Raps?

badtaste 06-23-2008 08:31 AM

Listening to Ironman right now, not bad at all.

sgrevs 06-23-2008 08:33 AM

Fishscale is best.

Apocalyptic Raids 06-23-2008 08:33 AM

Fishscale would be better if it weren't so bloated. Cut out the skits and shave the track length down to like 10-12 songs and it would be awesome. I've been listening to Back Like That all night tonight, so catchy.
Listening to Ironman right now, not bad at all.
ya good album

sgrevs 06-23-2008 08:46 AM

To be honest I hardly ever listen to the last few songs so I don't even think about them when I think about the album. Except for the one with Biggie on it, which is pretty cool.

What's new Hip Hop thread?

I havn't posted on Sputnik in ages, but since then I saw Ghostface live and also Raekwon and Ghostface performing Cuban Links at ATP festival. Was amazing, I also met Raekwon that weekend and told him to check out Battles who were playing later that night...I saw him in Battles later on which he went to on my reccomendation. Amazing.

Digging Clipse again recently and also the new Lil Wayne.

badtaste 06-24-2008 08:31 AM

Damn, sounds awesome.

I'm having a great time listening to Wu-Tang and family works.

Fucking awesome. What's he like? Was he nice or all stuck up? I've always hoped Wu-Tang would be nice guys.

Kyle 06-24-2008 08:55 AM

Yeah he was really polite to me, like, I could tell he was humouring me a little bit but he made the effort to talk to me. Asked me about ATP and who else was playing and if I could get some weed for him haha.

Independent_CA 06-24-2008 12:32 PM

Hey, what's the name of the Gorillaz song where the video is about a kid who joins the military and ends up in Iraq and so on? Somebody's got to know.

You've got to be kidding right?

Independent_CA 06-24-2008 01:10 PM

Nope.

badtaste 06-24-2008 11:47 PM

I don't recall any Gorillaz videos of that description.

Closest thing that comes to mind is Dirty Harry.

ATM 06-25-2008 11:58 AM

Any fans of the Procussions?

http://www.myspace.com/theprocussions

Independent_CA 06-25-2008 12:47 PM

Maybe it's not the Gorillaz then. I thought it was because of the animation style. Anyway, it's about basically this kid who is like happy at home, ends up joining the military and going to war, does some things he doesn't like, and I think like escapes capture or something. Basically all he can think of is getting back home. Ends up with him getting a medal on like national tv and then going back home or something.

I'm probably missing some details of the vid, but like I said it was animated so that's why I thought it was the Gorillaz.

It's not Dirty Harry, I've looked.

I'ma still in Wu-Tang mood/mode.

40 oz 2 freedom 06-29-2008 12:45 PM

Mighty "O" might be one of the best Outkast songs ever, shouldn't of slept on Idlewild

publicastration 06-29-2008 11:07 PM

Anyone listen to The Streets here?

badtaste 06-29-2008 11:25 PM

That brit hiphop artist? Not a fan of him, too smug.

I really like Original Pirate Material, the others are a bit meh.

ATM 06-30-2008 07:59 AM

Very hit or miss.

Iai 06-30-2008 10:28 AM

It's annoying, the lyrics on his second mixed with the music on his third would have been a classic. I still think A Grand is great but the music is a bit on the basic side.

ATM 07-02-2008 09:15 AM
