Alright guys, you know the project guitar I was talking about starting, well i decided to save some money, and just mess with my GAX70, like scallop some frets, repaint it, you know just play with it some.

But when I mentioned it to my mum she said No way, because it was a gift.

I can't do ANYTHING to it she says, I mean I can understand some...but seriously...

So then I said how I was thinking about making a guitar from parts and **** from eBay and those places, and she was like "Just do that" and I was like...then you pay for it, and she is like "How much will it cost? I'll pay for it if you won't ruin that one"

See the thing is though, I know 99% of that is bull****, I bet she would pay, but I doubt she'll even pay for a single part once she sees prices, hah. She thinks it will be cheap. I think I'm going to take her to Warmoth and show her what I mean by expensive after she is done watching her precious movie.

Should I try to convince her to let me **** with my Ibanez? Or should I just have her HELP me pay for parts from eBay and build something to mess with?

Or I can try to find a way to get that one guy from Craigslist to mail it/meet me somewhere, I want that probably the most, $50 for that Ibanez, but I am 4 hours away and i have no car, so that will be hard. And he still hasn't responded to my last email :(

Man I am flooding this thread with my questions/stories/rants. Oh well.
gah, I can't believe I'm out of bacon at the house.

I'll be damned if I'm having LT sandwiches for dinner and I'm not going to go through the trouble for cooking just for myself.

Should I go through the trouble of having a chick come over, just so I can have something nice for dinner?
Woah, always go through the trouble of cooking something good for yourself. But yes, have a lady come over an join you.

AG 06-25-2006 04:57 PM

So yeh, crispy bacon is terrible.

Normal bacon isn't that nice ether.

manlike 06-25-2006 04:57 PM

hey guys, what does ITT mean?

Ezekiel 06-25-2006 04:58 PM

Jus' normal sainsbury's sausages for me.

Cumberland sausages have this nasty texture and are really hard, for some reason (not an innuendo, honest) and don't taste nice in the least.

Still, what's even better is sausages grilled on a George Forman. Though the advertising was ridiculous, those things kick arse.

EDIT: Sup AG.

change the ibanez, just tell your mum you want to personalise it so you will remeber it better in years to come

Yashnaheen 06-25-2006 05:00 PM

Parents ftl..

What does it being a gift have anything to do with it, would be my question.

Why did you talk to mom about modding a guitar in the first place?

Don't show your mom Warmoth. Do this right the first time. Show her Carvin. Or Jackson. Or Shamray, or Manson, or... :) And explain to her that no electric guitar is perfect for the player, not even if it cost $2000. Explain to her that almost all musicians, pro or am, upgrade their guitars to some extent.

I sort of envy you people whose beliefs don't include abstinence before marriage. :upset:

There are lesser pleasures, though. :)

Abu-Abu 06-25-2006 05:24 PM

I had to bring it up because if I am using my dads tools and sanding it down and giving it to my friend to paint it she will DEFINATELY notice.

When talking to her more just a bit ago she is like "buy it from me and you can do what you want with it" and I'm like..."if I'm buying a new guitar it won't be one I already have,"

she says I can do it to my Squier even though she payed for that too, and that was like $350 or something for the whole pack, and this Ibanez was $200, she says "It's a nice guitar" and I'm like..."no...it's a $200 guitar, it's a CHEAP guitar" and she just says I don't appreciate my gifts...

If I bought her a $200 car she wouldn't drive it instead of her BMW, it's the same concept, one works better/actually works and it was more money, you aren't going to repaint your BMW to some funny things a friend paints, you would on a $200 one though...

ugh I agree parents ftl

PLEASE! NO-ONE CLICK IT! I BEG YOU!

I find it surprising you guys fail to grasp the mother's argument. Since the guitar was a gift, upgrading it automatically seems like an insult. It's the same thing as someone giving you a t-shirt as a gift and you go and trade it in for a different one. What his mother clearly fails to understand is that a good guitar gets upgraded - a bad one gets eBay'd. :p

She is still offering to help me pay for parts...but I know once I open it up she'll pay for like $50 towards it...

She is like "Why don't you just get that $50 guitar you were talking about?" and I'm like "Why don't you drive me 4-5 hours to get it?"

She is like "just have the guy ship it", well that would include him contacting me back, he might be able to. But that would also raise the cost to like double ><
