Six Foot Revolver 09-17-2009 07:45 AM

i never got the hype around mono tbh :/

Txus 09-17-2009 07:46 AM

Hymn is awesome. I had the pleasure of buying all of Mono's albums on Vinyl 2 months ago for only 30 bucks.

Bleekill 09-17-2009 07:47 AM

Whats not to like about Mono? They didn't semed hyped til Hymn and they delivered so Idgaf.

Txus 09-17-2009 07:48 AM

Their best album will always be the Collab album with World's End Girlfriend for me.

Six Foot Revolver 09-17-2009 07:49 AM

i don't dislike them or anything, i just didn't think hymn was as good as everyone made out. maybe i should give it another listen.

Txus 09-17-2009 07:51 AM

Don't start with Hymn.

Start with Your Are There. That album has the best Post Rock song of all time, so yeah.

Bleekill 09-17-2009 07:53 AM

I like You Are There the best but Hymn is close if not equal. I'd love to see it live with the orchestra.

Txus 09-17-2009 07:53 AM

That would make me jizz too much

Bleekill 09-17-2009 07:56 AM

Haha, I heard they have played some bigger places with the orchestra. It would be magical for sure.

Meatplow 09-17-2009 09:10 AM

Mutyumu is awesome, I don't know if they necessarily count as post-rock with my limited knowledge of the genre.

But yeah, idk. The few post-rock bands i've heard sound extremely stagnant. I need something a little more vibrant and full of life.

Txus 09-17-2009 09:36 AM

Mutyumu are really weird, in a good way. I love the female vocals, they are so cute *-*

Nepenthe 09-17-2009 01:40 PM

you definitely just havent been exposed to the right bands then

mike: idk, ive never heard long distance callings first album. didnt even realize they had more than avoid the light. if its half as good as light tho ill enjoy it.

Have you heard the new And So I Watch You From Afar and/or The Non - Papercity. These two are "full of lfe" imo. Give them a chance if you haven't already.

Nepenthe 09-17-2009 01:46 PM

i didnt like and so i watch you from afar at first but ive listened to it a few more times and im liking it more.

im going to ask this here, because i cant get a response anywhere else, but has anyone listened to the new eleventh he reaches london? not exactly post rock, but definitely has all of the elements. ****ing amazing, probably the second best album of the year.

Ventriloquist 09-17-2009 01:48 PM

I will give that a listen once I get my internet connection.

ASIWYFA is probably my favorite post-rock band at the moment. Going to see them on 22nd of Octorber, supporting This Will Destroy You. Gig's going to rule so hard(And it costs £8, ****in hell).

witchxrapist 09-17-2009 01:48 PM

I've been listening to Explosions In The Sky's first album so much lately.

It's like, absolutely beautiful. IDK none of their other material really clicks with me.

Ventriloquist 09-17-2009 01:50 PM

They ALWAYS use the same formula. They were the first post-rock band I listened to tho. Earth is not a cold death place is my fav.

Nepenthe 09-17-2009 01:53 PM

geez mappy thanks for reverting this thread back to 06

h&d post: entry level **** man

but really i havent listened to EITS in years. theres just so many bands that do exactly the same thing, but a little bit better.

ASIWYFA would be an excellent live show. long distance calling would be too.

Txus 09-17-2009 02:15 PM

EITS suck

Anthony: I've never heard of said band (Eleventh).

ASIWYFA <3 <3

Nepenthe 09-17-2009 02:19 PM

mike, get their album hollow be my name NOWNOWNOW. for real. instant love, i guarantee it. i dont mean later today, or tmrw. i mean now.

Ventriloquist 09-17-2009 02:20 PM

Mike msn if you are not busy, i'm so bored. NOWNOWNOWNOW

Nepenthe 09-17-2009 02:20 PM

poor mike just gets rushed all over the place

Txus 09-17-2009 02:31 PM

Murat, I can't. Some ****ing asshole was caught using it and now we don't have acces here at work :(

Antonio, they are tagged as Post Hardcore hmmmm, that doesn't sound good, but since it's your rec I will download the album right now. Will give feedback later in this thread.

Ventriloquist 09-17-2009 02:33 PM

Bah that blows. ASIWYFA has its post-hardcore moments too tbh, but they are great.

edit: @Mike you can use https://www.websitenamehere.com to access banned sites at work. What I learned in my internship

Txus 09-17-2009 02:35 PM

But they don't have vocals, so that's a good.

I'm online at Gtalk if you have that, btw.

Holy ****, forget what I said, Eleventh He Reaches London is neat. Just heard a sample and this is great. Definitely worth stopping Doomriders for this.

Nepenthe 09-17-2009 02:35 PM

honestly id call them post hardcore too. but theyre soooo far from whats considered post hardcore its ridiculous. its mainly just the vocals. but theyre half of what makes them such a good band. amazing vocals, amazing lyrics.

eleventh he reaches is pretty much what would happen if you took a really good post hardcore band, put it in a blender with a really good post rock band, set it to mode:amazing, and mixed.

the last track is a ****ing masterpiece. and the first two, along with 9, are some of the strongest tracks ive ever heard in my life.

you can go to their myspace.com/eleventhhereacheslondon. listen to the track commonwealth and the queen, itll give you a good idea of their sound. thats the masterpiece i was talking about.

Ventriloquist 09-17-2009 02:37 PM

Nepenthe, are you an alt account?

Txus 09-17-2009 02:38 PM

Seldon Hunt did their artwork, I am completely sold.

Nepenthe 09-17-2009 02:40 PM

no. my name was quorthonace for a long time tho. i changed it to nepenthe right before i went on a year or two-long hiatus from mx.

im telling you dude, eleventh he reaches is some amazing ****. other than altar of plagues, i havent heard anything that even comes close to its level of awesomeness in years.

HighandDriving 09-17-2009 02:44 PM

Gonna see Mono soon, rec me some drugs to go along with drinking.
