That was why I hated doing research for that class. I passed out three sentences in for any article I was assigned to read.

I'm guessing they think that by coming off unintelligible, they sound like they know what they're talking about.

Me, I can give all the information necessary to demonstrate I understand the topic within 5 pages, tops. But since I have to have at least ten, I shamelessly bullshit, editorialize, and ramble to pad the essay. Way I see it, it's no worse than turning what could be a perfectly clear, one-sentence explanation into a two-paragraph nightmare of convoluted Spock-talk.
I find this.
Fortunately, being a primarily English student, the teachers don't mind The writer's voice as much, some even encourage it. It tends to be a major theme of my essays, come to think of it.
As with MX, I always write how I speak.
And I also use big words whenever possible, so maybe I have found a happy medium :p

/Just finished Chaucer essay.

English...blah.

i'm fine with reading and writing but grammer and sentece structure can go lick my balls. Drafting and engineering is where it is at.

Toaster 12-13-2005 07:20 PM

I just got my computer back. The power circuit broke or something, and I was computer-less for about two days.. needless to say, I was at loose ends. :p

I really like English. One of my best and favorite classes.

zabbit82 12-13-2005 07:22 PM

English.. prolly the only subject that I really hate too much in school. I've been more interested in Chemistry and French (to some degree).

Otherside 12-13-2005 07:22 PM

I'm really hating AP English right now. The teacher is so wishy-washy about everything, I have trouble understanding her when she teaches, not to mention the incredible work load she's put on us the last month or so....

I can't wait for this year to be over. Junior year sucks.

How is AP English, besides the teacher?

I was thinking about taking AP English II next year, but I've been told it's a huge pain in the glain.

Lord Abortion 12-13-2005 07:29 PM

I love English, reading has always been the thing I'm best at. :)
I'm about a third of the way through The Dark tower, the last in Stephen King's series. It's as incredibly good as the rest so far

Amen to that. I've heard that its the hardest year out of all four years of high school. Senior year next year I hope will be a breeze...

Hey Jom what is your email?

Riva 12-13-2005 07:31 PM

English is so great! I never ever got below an A standard during all my schooling years in an English subject!

I just realised I'm breaking the page again with my avatar.

So, I bet you are all wondering what kept me so preoccupied as to reduce me to lurking for an hour on MX each day, maybe posting twice in that time?

Neither was I.

However, 50 manhours, 200kg of concrete, 20kg of steel, 8 litres of cement colour and slate sealant, and we have a masterpiece!

It's fully working, and is very relaxing to sit in with a beer in each hand.

English III is weird. I have the hardest teacher in the grade, and I'm struggling for a B, but other teachers just hand out A's like they're going out of style.

It's not too bad though, the AP test shouldn't be too tough.

I've heard similair about it, but as far as this year.. I guess it's not too bad.. I have around a 86 in the class, which is over a 100 when double weighted, but not all that great comparativley. I'm doing alot better in AP US History though, with a 94 this 9 weeks so far..

The biggest thing about AP classes is the workload. You will have tons of homework. I've stayed up till around 12:00-1:30 every school night for the last three weeks working on various classes(specifically English though), but then again, I don't get home from working out untill around 6:30 or 7:00. As long as you can do the work, the class isn't hard to do well in.

Nope, the only true classic death metal is Bolt Thrower. All the others are poseurs. :p

Anyone in here know a thing or two about (windows based) laptops? Im saving up for one since I will need one next year.

Totally unrelated, but Concert for George is probably the most emotional CD I have ever heard.

NP: Al Fish - Fearless(A cover of the Pink Floyd song)
^ Would anyone be interested in hearing that?
