what channel is it on?

blue3 06-10-2005 12:09 AM

I've seen the beginning of 'There Are Places I Remember' one, but that's all I've seen. It was on Much More Music a few days ago..

bcf717 06-10-2005 07:48 PM

For guitar; Eight Days a Week....

I'll tab left to right for simplicity in typing (start 6th string or low E as left and work right for the other strings)

intro; try xx0230 xx0100 xx0003 back to xx0230

main song; start D xx0232 (ooo I need your), E 022100 (love babe), G xx0003 (guess you know), D xx0232 (it's true) -- then repeat for the second line.

Bm xx0432 (hold me), G xx0003 (love me), Bm xx0432 (hold me), E 022100 (love me), D xx0232 (I ain't got nothing but love babe) G xx0003 (eight days) D xx0232 (a week)

middle eight; strum -- A x02220 (eight days a week), Bm xx0432 (I love-a-a-ove you) -- now with gusto -- E 022100 (eight days a week is) G xx0003 (not enough to) A x02220 (show I care) ....then back to verses again.

outro; same as intro except finish with D xx0232, not xx0230.

Play most as 4 string chords except the E, as it will sound brighter and more like a Ric. Besides, Lennon was known for slashing out those 4 string versions of chord on songs like these.

Hope this helps, DEUX.
I know a few, but just about any one should be learnable. Wait...I don't think I can record.:( While My Guitar Gently Weeps would be great for the rest of you to do, though. That's my favorite Harrisong.

magicbus: Where did you get the lead and chords? I've found some, but none I looked at were very accurate.
Yes! People are using the term Harrisong. Soon, Harrison will dominate every mind of every Beatles fan!

Much More Music.

bcf717 06-10-2005 08:20 PM

Guitar for 'You Got to Hide Your Love Away'

Start 4 string G xx0003 (here I ) D xx0232 (stand) F 113211 bar on the first fret (head in hand) C x32010 (turn my) Fmaj7 x03210 (face) C x32010 (to the wall)

then repeat. If you do that pattern, you'll get the timing down and it'll make sense.

Chorus; G xx0003 (hey, you've got) C x32010 (hide your love).....

Now the tricky but cool part for 'away.' Listen on the song for that lilting strum he plays as 'away' is sung.
The tab is; xx0233 xx0232 xx0230 xx0232

Here's the trick--- start by fingering D xx0232 but place your pinky on the 3rd fret on the 1st string as well so both your index finger is on the 2nd fret of the 1st string AND the 3rd fret of the 1st string at the same time. Then lift the pinky off and you'll go right into D (xx0232). Then lift your index finger off for xx0230 and put it back down to finish in D (xx0232).

A little practice to get the hang of it and you'll impressing people all over the place.:)

DeusExMachina 06-13-2005 12:35 PM

Mad bumpage.

I propose we do a Harrison tune*. I know Here Comes the Sun and Something. What does everyone else say?

*Harrisong. What a rad phrase.

magicbus 06-13-2005 12:38 PM

I'll do anything. Just let me know :thumb:

In fact I propose that anyone who wants to participate lists the instrument they play and their AIM name, so we can get this a little more organized.

I play guitar, and my name is rockshowguy56.

Woah

I'd like to hear you guys play "Get Back"; that'd be interesting.

:)

Walrus Gumboot 06-13-2005 02:07 PM

I have the bassline to Something down. The guitar solo would be a challenge, but someone's gotta be up to it

magicbus 06-13-2005 05:22 PM

I think I could pull it off, with enough practice.

bcf717 06-13-2005 07:49 PM

Something starts out with C (x32010), Cmaj7 (x32000), C7 (x32310), F (113211).
Then Am (x02210), D7 (xx0212).

I don't want to leave her now is Am (x02210) to D (xx0232).
You know I believe in how is C/G (320033) to D (xx0232).

signature riff is F,Em,G,C

bcf717 06-13-2005 08:01 PM

Get Back is very easy but fun.

JoJo was a man who thought he was a lover -- all A (x02220)
but he knew he couldn't last -- switch to D (xx0232).

For the little two strum accent in between verses -- G (xx0003) to D (xx0232) fast.

Repeat and have fun.

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 06-13-2005 08:34 PM

McCartney is on A&E right now playing in Russia!!!

DeusExMachina 06-13-2005 09:23 PM

I can play Something on guitar. Haven't played the solo in a little while, but I used to have it down pat, shouldn't be too hard to get it down again.

I play guitar, and keys if necessary. My AIM is DeusExMachina107.

Seafroggys 06-13-2005 11:24 PM

I can play any Harrisong too!

Yes, thats right, on the drums! ;)

Can someone have a look at that and tell me if it's genuine? I'm over 90% certain it's a genuine Beatles song, just wait till the vocals come in,

Can someone tell me which album (if any) this was off?

If I'm not mistaken, it's on one of the anthology albums. However, I haven't downloaded the song you sent, or listened to the anthology for awhile, so I could be wrong.

Tonight, I'm going to record the solo to Something really quickly. It won't be anything fancy, just one take, but people can tell me what they think.

It's an 'genuine' track, if you want to call it. Yoko Ono gave the Beatles two unfinished Lennon songs so that they could whatever they want it with them. They were Free As A Bird and Real Love. They were included on Anthology.

With some Lennon vocals already in, McCartney, Harrison and Starr overdubbed their parts in. On this song, McCartney puts in "Whatever happened to, the life that we once knew? Can we really live without each other? When did we lose the touch, which seemed to mean so much?"

Harrison added some slide guitar and a splendid solo, and Starr some drumming. It's a pretty good song, and you could really feel that it's an actual Beatle song. I like it.

slowhand 06-14-2005 03:21 PM

... And I know the solo for Something. It's pretty easy. In fact, I played it with my band, dedicated it to my ex-gf and that's how we got together. Pretty good.

Walrus Gumboot 06-14-2005 07:33 PM

All right

I am going to be living at my friend's house, and she has a competent computer; If I managed to get ahold of a microphone from someone, can someone tell me how I could record the bassline?

Walrus Gumboot 06-16-2005 12:41 PM

*bumpity*
Ok, I mananged to wrangle a microphone for the weekend, and I should be getting my good computer back, and I think we could pull of "Something" Slowhand could do guitar, Deus keys, me on bass, no strings and a drummer TBA

I also have 8 Days a Week down after preforming it a few times, it would be extremely easy to do. Another thought for a simple 4-instrument tune; All My Loving
It seems that most of the others have effects/equipment/instruments/orchestras that we (most likely) don't have

Deus suggested a Harrisong, and I think Old Brown Shoe would be magnificent

Once I get the equipment I will post 8 Days, All My Loving and Something, unless someone think we should try something else, any suggestions?

Woodstock 06-16-2005 02:05 PM

This is so totally awesome.

That's is crazy, I randomly found that and watched it when I was searching the internet when I was really bored yesterday. I'm not kidding, I just found it yesterday, that's wierd, anyone, that guy is crazy.

Do you have a 4-track and a program like audacity on your comp?

robo2448 06-16-2005 05:14 PM

I'm listening to Let It Be...Naked for the first time. I think I like this Across the Universe better, but I'm not sure yet.

eghed 06-16-2005 06:06 PM

I just now learned how to play I want you (She's so Heavy) on guitar.

magicbus 06-16-2005 06:42 PM
I just now learned how to play I want you (She's so Heavy) on guitar.
I love that song, it's very fun to play.

robo2448 06-16-2005 07:14 PM

The riff in that song and Gilmour's riff in SOYCD are my two favorite riffs of all time. The tone in each of those songs is incredible.

Seafroggys 06-16-2005 10:45 PM

One of my favorite riffs is to Hey Bulldog.
