too many people have gotten banned for little things that dont matter.
That I'll agree with. Having said that, most people would argue that bans are meaningless, since you can just create a new account and keep on phishin'. |
I like the way it was long ago, when you could ban people just cause you don't like them.
|
i just feel like this place is like elementry school were you have to raise your hand before you can go to the bathroom, even though the teacher isnt watching, which then causes you to pee yourself unless you run out of the room.
|
So start posting elsewhere.
so the length of the ban is the only reason you dont think this is a too quick to judge rule. had he been banned for a month of so you would have sided with me? you may not think this is a big deal but the only rules you can challenge are the smalls ones at first, once they get too big they may be unstoppable. too many people have gotten banned for little things that dont matter.
I don't want to start an argument with you 'cause I don't want to get on your bad side. I'm just saying that this place has gotten so big that mods don't usually have time to look into every banning possiblity. If you looked at that thread, most people were noobs with the exception of Iai and SFK would've looked like a hypocrite if he didn't ban everyone. And this place isn't really a democracy. The mods who ban (basically) have absolute power that you can't challenge without the risk of being banned. |
So start posting elsewhere.
why should i have to post elsewhere, i like the people here, i like what they have to say, i dont like it when they are silenced for bad reasons. and after having just read the 24 forum rules in the R&M forum i am in an even more offensive mood then usual. Mainly due to this: 2. Don't start arguments. This goes nowhere and basically ruins the mood of the forum. its a forum were your supposed to have arguments. sure, arguing about what someone is isnt right, but to disagree with someone and argue about it is a part of human nature. R&M need to get over themselves. |
Hi, i only joined the other day and im tryin to work out what a noob is. Help anyone?
|
Is it just anyone who's new?
|
n00b=someone who acts like an idiot.
newbie=someone who's just new to the community, like you are. Due to the fact that you are capable of using capitilisation, and indeed commas, you're not a n00b. ;) Enjoy the forums.
capitalization..sorry im somewhat of a spelling nazi |
capitalization..sorry im somewhat of a spelling nazi
...and yet you don't use capitals in that sentence. |
Using capitals has nothing to do with spelling, it's grammar. :)
Welcome to our community, Plainlazy. |
Vey true. Thanks for pointing that out. What are the general times that most people are on here, as whenever I'm here there only seem to be one or two people in the alt/indie forums. This means that by the time I see a conversation it's already over. Any general best times to come on?
|
There's usually a good deal of people on any evening between about 5 and 11 eastern time. But there's always at least a few people on.

The time that I'm on. Hello, I'm Sweboy! |
Hi Swe.
|
This is a post to say hello. (dot)

Hello. So is this. This could go on for a while.

You'll never know....

Hey, how old is everyone in here / what do you all do (job, school subjects, uni course, w/e)?
|
I'm 17, a junior in high school. I've been playing trumpet for 7 years, and I just started playing piano. I like all kinds of music, but my favorite is jazz. I really only post in the alt & indie forum because the people here are nice, and it's active (unlike the jazz forum) and fun (unlike R&M). I do listen to some alt & indie music, of course, but I dislike a lot of the real popular bands around here, which sometimes gets me in trouble with the regulars.
|
Hey I'm very similar to you. Except jazz and alt/indie the other way round. Also play trumpet, but for 9 years now. Did play piano, but stopped lessons. Still play occassionally. Also 17. Attempting to teach myself guitar, but I suck. Plus I've never been a good teacher, and lose patience with myself. What subjects do you do?

It's not to late to bring that back! I bet it would stop a lot of the most immature and retarded threads in The Pit, because people could be ousted just for having nothing valuable to say, and contributing adversely to the forum. I think it would work. |
I'm 18, a Freshman in College. I got Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts. I'm majoring in English/Communications with a concentration in media production/studies. I don't practice guitar, but I'll pick one up now and then. Not the most most musical person, but I know good music when I hear it. My musical tastes range from Alternative to Post-Rock to Prog Rock to Thrash Metal to Prog Metal and some miscellaneous bands in between. Good to see a new face 'round these parts.

Imagine if there were a Pit Community Thread. /shudders |
Thanks Wanker. So is everyone like from USA? I'm feeling very insignificant here in England, which btw sucks. I really do hate this country.
|
Actually maybe a good 30-40% of people on this site are from the UK.
|
I'm from the United States, but there are a lot of Brits and Aussies here.

I'm 18, and also a Brit - I live in East Anglia. I currently study at Sixth Form college - I'm in my third year, and am doing English Literature and Music at A2, and Music technology at AS. I already have 2 A2s (Philosophy, Media) and one AS (English Language). I play guitar, and have done for just over 2 years. I'm going to sit my Grade 7 examination with Associated Board soon, even though I'm terrible at sight-reading. I can do rhythms, at least. Next year I'm going to Uni to study either Music with Media, or Music with English. I've apllied to APU (Cambridge campus), Keele, and Northampton. |
'Unbeknownst to much of the world and many of the respective band members and possibly also the guys themselves, Tool's Maynard James Keenan and Deftones' Chino Moreno have long been at loggerheads in an intense rivalry to make their group the world's one and only "metal Radiohead".'
What the crap? Metal Radiohead? |
