That reminds me... Once upon a time while listening to Triad on a good dose of X, I experienced a hallucination/vision of a giant muscle, not unlike a brain, but not as defined. There was an enormous amout of movement and force, to the rhythm of Triad. I am trying to find a nice way to animate this idea, to share the experience with others. Gee, I hope that wasnt too incriminating...Eh, feel free not to comment on this.
What a sight... makes me wanna do drugs. I got a Melvins CD today, the new one that they did with B. Lustmord, some electronica guy. Wow. Oh, and I'm mentioning it here because Adam plays on most tracks!!! There's one song that he plays in where he has a guitar sound a lot like some sounds from Third Eye. Wickedness. concious, I'm glad you take your Tool seriously, so many people (as mentioned above) seem to like them just because they're heavy. Yes, there are heavy songs like Third Eye, The Grudge and The Patient, but come on, there is more to Tool then heaviness. Oh, and I got a burnt copy (don't flame me... I'm only 15, I can't go on ebay and spend hundreds on a box set) of Salival. No Quarter and L.A.M.C are screwed though, I guess that's what I get. !!!MERKABA!!! My second favourite Tool song. |

i havent posted for at least a page, so I thought all you MJK fans would like some news to ponder over |
<<Fag: "Man, I'm into them because they're so freaking hardcore and heavy maaan." >>
LOL that's funny, but to me they are heavy, I mean for my taste anyway.. Tool is about the heaviest I can go. I wish I could go heavier because I love the energy of the concerts, I love the moshing and all (don't I sound like the 14 year old poser now), heh, I am going to see Soulfly in a few days but I can't stand the screaming . Anyone recommend any heavy bands that actually "sing"?
Atreyu and From Autumn To Ashes both have some singing, but they do scream some too |
Merkabra,
Muhammud My Friend is glorious. It is one of my own selfish desires to see Tori Amos and Keenan have children. B/c the world apparently needs more divinely-inspired artists. ------------------------- Werny, It's good to hear from you again! I'm glad you are well :) and enjoying Salival. L.A.M.C is a joke track, so don't fret over it at all. However, No Quarter is a classic. I have a really great video of Tool preforming No Quarter in London in 94' (what grade was I in? geez!) Let me know if you want to d/l and maybe we can figure something out. Also, A couple years back I bought a DVD Set for 20$ off of Ebay. It had everything from the OGT to the Lateralus Tour, plus various interviews, 1 of which was an hour long. It also had every music video. If you are looking for material like this, I recommend looking for this particular DVD Set. The man who compiled the set lives in Australia, so you will have to pay a little extra for shipping, but the collection is immaculate! |
i would like a copy of no quarter if you dont mind. the email is adamjones_god@yahoo.com i would really appreciate it man

Maynard saind once in an interview that he kinda jokingly feared playing at a show with them because he was scared that other people would notice the influence. What is that song that the melvins had with maynard talking on it or adam on guitar or danny or somebody from tool featured...i dont know.... something. Divorce or something was the name of it. I bought the cd just for that song but I didnt like it too well. |
jamesclelland,
I am going to attempt to send this file. It is 130MB. If it doesnt work out I apologize. |

Tool and AiC are the heaviest bands I listen to. Also, I agree on the screaming. I can't stand it. I can respect the feeling, but I'd rather hear some of Maynard's exquisite lyrics or some of Layne Staley's blues-style singing. |

Opeth is VERY talented progressive metal/Death metal band. they kick ***. But its not for everyone. I can give you a track or two of them to maybe start you off. contact me on aim if you want a track or two aim-malignant5050 |
I appreciate it, but I'm already d/ling the opeth stuff from hafez. I've heard good things about Opeth and I'm obv willing to take a listen.
|
Yes Opeth is extremely good, and I find that most Tool fans are also partial to Opeth stuff.
I like screaming, just as long as it's used in context and pulled off well. I couldn't just listen to music with constant screaming all the time, but I enjoy it when I'm in the right mood. |
****ation by Opeth is amazing. Sounds like Porcupine Tree
|
I like Opeth alot, id take Tool over them tho anyday.
|
I just listened to Blackwater Park.
It's too bad, such great music was wasted with garbage vocals. |
The song or cd?
|
I listened to the CD, the guy actually has a good voice (e.g. Still Day Beneath the Sun) but in songs such as Blackwater Park, he just screams and it really ruins great instrumental songs.
|
I don't see how it ruins it. His scream is very cool, and it goes well with the music especially given that he doesn't do it at an inapporpriate time. I don't know, I've always like screaming to a certain extent, but I still think his clean voice is just incredible.

Does anybody have any material by The Electric Sheep? In case you don't know, Electric Sheep was the band that Adam Jones was in with Tom Morello, formerly of Rage Against the Machine, now of Audioslave. Adam played bass in it, but I still want to check it out, since I'm a huge RATM fan.
Any other RATM fans in here? |
