My dad alway talked about how amazing ELP were, I was litening to Brain Salad Surgery and got to thinking that as impressive as it is now, it must have been positively mind-blowing in the 70's, before those kinds of synthesisers became cheesy. Now I don't really understand why he speaks so highly of them ("The best modern composers of our time" etc) He must have had his mind blown back in the 70's and still remebers it that way
any puddle of mud fans in hear? i personally love the song she ****ing hates me.
:amaze:  :( |
I'm praying the tickets aren't that much. I might go up to 150 bucks, but definitely not more than that.
|
Ach!!
Cream prices! I'd rather pay $50 to see Clapton, if the chance arose. But if Neil tours I dont expect his prices to be as high. |
ELP are good. I love their version of Fanfare for the Common Man, and the Peter Gunn Theme.

Have you ever had that feeling when you're listining to a song it's the best time and setting for that particular sound at the time? I was in the back of my bus with about 20 or more Mexicans talking, laughing and hanging out and I was sitting there listining to "El Cuarto de Tula" by the Buena Vista Social Club and it hit me. This is the most perfect song to listin to at this particular moment and for now-on this song will never be as perfect. Even though their not Cuban that latin atmosphere was just great for that song. It's kind of like my relationship with "The Gnome" and shrooming or Workingman's Dead and driving on a snowy interstate. So now I'm extremly addicted to the Buena Vista Social Club right now. :)
|
$2000 to see a complete Beatles reunion? Pah, I'd sell my soul and sleep with 20,000 AIDS infected men to see that. You lose
|
Anyone in hear like Willie Nelson? Shotgun Willie's a pretty good album, but that's all I've heard by him. What's his best cd? Badmoon probably likes him.
|
Have I ever mentioned we don't have enough Zappa talk in here? I'm really digging him with the Mothers of Invention right now. From what I can tell no-one in here digs the Mothers.
I think We're Only in It for Money is AMAZING while other people can't stand it. What's everyone's opinion on it? |
I'm currently obsessed with Frank and the Mothers.
Good stuff. Very original. I have 25 albums, and getting larger by the day. We're Only In It For The Money is a great album. I will upload any if needed :) |
Hey JonG, do you think you could upload WOITFTM? i heard its great but donthave it :upset:
|
What is it about collecting as much Zappa as possible? :amaze:
I'm just curious I've seen like 5 people now trying to obtain all 63 something albums. I never really understood collecting period. Like I said I'm just curious. |

I don't bother much with Live/Bootleg things. I just want to see everything he made in his short career. |
Doesn't he have like 200 albums?
|
Doesn't he have like 200 albums?
I think he made like 71 or so. 63 studio albums, I think someone said once. |
I could never get into him for whatever reason but I was recommended Hot Rats so I suppose I should listen to it.

27 years is a pretty big career!

My point here is, that it isn't $2000. |
When Neil tours for his new album, the best tickets will probably be about $50. Neil is the workingman's musician.
I'd pay $2000 for a show if and only if Led Zeppelin, The Dead, Pink Floyd, and ABB did a show together with all original members including the dead ones (they'd be alive for the show of course). |

Indeed. Maybe even I would have a chance at going
Anyone in hear like Willie Nelson? Shotgun Willie's a pretty good album, but that's all I've heard by him. What's his best cd? Neil would be cool and not over charge like a few bands that I will not name because you all know who i'm talking about :)
|
My sister went to Bonaroo 2002 and 2003. The year that Neil was there, she said his voice was shot, and couldn't understand him. Seems like Bob Dylan.

and a good point it is. haha. outrageous prices. |

I know what you mean, I usually have an album for every part of my life. For example I listened to Ram all the time when I was in Spain, so Ram reminds me of Spain. Actually reminding isn't stong enough of a word, it's more like I'm teleported to Spain |
I had my first guitar class today. I'm gonna be learning "Wake Me Up When September Ends." Fun
np: Pink Moon. I've having a Nick Drake listening session. Always mellows me out after a stressful day. |

Nooo, they shut down the YSI threads.
:( |
I know, and right before I get a faster internet connection.
:( |
All I can say is I laughed when Schyma mentioned being in the back of a van with 20 or more Mexicans listening to "El Cuarto de Tula."
Tomorrow I'm auditioning for my schools musical....last year I didn't have to audition because the teacher in charge of it understood my musical and theatrical genius. So now I have to prepare a song, I'm gonna bring my guitar because I can't sing in tune without some music. I dunno what I'll sing, most likely this song I wrote but I'm not sure. (it's an easy song and I wrote the vocal lines to suit my sub-par singing) |
We can still upload albums in here.
