I rarely get stuff by bands as soon as I hear of them. Can generally decipher if they're going to be any good just by judging who is still listening to them 3 months after they've started being talked about. Seems to filter out a lot of the flavour of the month rubbish for me. Only downside is sometimes being slow on the uptake about something (eg Dead Congregation).
