Hey Lunch, I'm listening to Tommy again.

Tommy helps me through these boring mornings.

I'm convinced that it's most definetly up there in the "good album" list.
I'm convinced that it's most definetly up there in the "good album" list.
Fundamentals of rock music:
Tommy is on the "Good Album" list.

Add other things.

MalcolmYoungRock 05-14-2005 12:16 PM

Sgt. Peppers is on the good album list?

lunch998 05-14-2005 12:19 PM
Sgt. Peppers is on the good album list?
Quoted for truth.

Seriously though, it's been awhile since we've made a list. I think its time for another one. Though I'm not creative enough to think of what it should be.

MalcolmYoungRock 05-14-2005 12:36 PM

Yeah...

maybe the "good album" list?

Good Album List
-----------------------
Tommy - The Who
Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band - The Beatles

robo2448 05-14-2005 12:43 PM

How are we doing this good album list?

EDIT- 100th post

lunch998 05-14-2005 12:45 PM

It would appear that you just name albums that are good.

Allman Brothers - Eat A Peach.

Glitterati 05-14-2005 12:46 PM

This may have already been mentioned, but happy 55th birthday to Jack Bruce:chug:

MalcolmYoungRock 05-14-2005 12:48 PM

Actually, I was thinking of adding an album from every band just once.

So it's kind of a best of list of the band.

We'll start fresh since Tommy and Sgt Peppers are really debatable.

lunch998 05-14-2005 12:51 PM
This may have already been mentioned, but happy 55th birthday to Jack Bruce:chug:
Isn't Jack older than Clapton, and Clapton is 60 now.

So now we pick the band's best album and add it to the list?

Glitterati 05-14-2005 12:54 PM

Um...Frank Zappa - Freak Out! is a good one, I've been listening to that one over and over.

lunch998 05-14-2005 12:55 PM

I still stand by The Who - Tommy. (Obviously)

Others:
Dead - American Beauty
ABB - Eat a Peach
Jethro Tull - Aqualung

Zeppelin, Hendrix, Floyd, Dylan, The Kinks, The Beatles, Cream and others are all easily debatable.

robo2448 05-14-2005 01:11 PM

The Band- Music From Big Pink
The Beatles- I would like to recommend The White Album over Sgt. Pepper's but don't have a problem with Sgt. Pepper's
Dylan- Live '75- Blood on the Tracks if it's just studio
Bob Marley- legend
Bruce Springsteen- Born to Run
Cream Wheels of Fire
The Doors- LA Woman
Clapton- Slowhand
John Lennon- Plastic Ono band
Pink Floyd- WYWH
Rolling Stones- Some Girls
Simon and Garfunkel- Bridge Over Troubled Water
U2- The Joshua Tree
The Who- If live albums are included- I'd go with Live At Leeds, otherwise I agree with Tommy

Just getting us started

Badmoon 05-14-2005 01:25 PM
John Lennon- Plastic Ono band
I hate this album.
Bob Marley- legend
Exodus, Natty Dread > Legend

IMO

Illmatic 05-14-2005 01:34 PM

Exodus, Natty Dread, Rasta Revolution, and Catch a Fire are all better than Legend, I think.

Also, Some Girls sucked. The Stones had better albums (Beggars Banquet, Exile on Main St., Sticky Fingers, Let It Bleed, It's Only Rock and Roll).

Some others:
Jeff Beck - Blow By Blow
Television - Marquee Moon
Iggy and the Stooges - Raw Power
David Bowie - Low (although this is certainly debatable)
Sly and the Family Stone - There's a Riot Goin' On
Neil Young - Harvest (also debatable)
Funkadelic - Maggot Brain
Queen - A Night at the Opera
Iggy Pop - Lust For Life

I don't know about Rasta Revolution, but Catch a Fire doesn't really appeal to me. "Concrete Jungle" is a great song though.

:)

weird QUEEN 05-14-2005 01:45 PM

The one and only Rockgroup, with the ultimated Frontmen Freddie Mercurcury

QUEEN

I know Some Girls isn't even close to their most acclaimed album, I just thought I'd put it there because I like listening to that album as a whole more than the others. I feel it's the only Stones album that kind of had a concept to it. Sticky Fingers and Exile on Main Street are the albums where they produced their best music. It's something I can't explain, but for some reason Some Girls is my personal favorite. I understand that most people don't disagree though, and own all the above albums and love them too. Except It's Only Rock and Roll= 80's Stones= over the hill crap compared with their earlier stuff. It's not that it's that bad, it's just uneven and really pales compared to their earlier stuff.

sorry for the double post, but don't include Pink Floyd with those other bands.

Pink Floyd is one of the greatest classic rock bands ever.

That would be true if It's Only Rock and Roll hadn't come out before Some Girls.

It's best to ignore these posts.

EDIT: The one you responded to, I mean.

Why does every one hate or dislike maybe I should say Sgt. Peppers? It is one of my favorite albums.

BludgeonySteve 05-14-2005 03:08 PM

I like it.

*the rolling stones are okay, but not their stuff after the 70s in general.

Glitterati 05-14-2005 03:12 PM

Yeah, I used to be a big Stones fan, but their post-1980 stuff doesn't do anything for me.

PinkFreud 05-14-2005 04:03 PM
Oh well, maybe one of my friends will get it. Not very interested in it, though.

And I'm having troubles finding Mahavishnu Orchestra's albums. I've searched everywhere for them, and can't seem to find them. I even searched some of the jazz sections, thinking that maybe they'd classified it under jazz. But nothing.
they would indeed be classified under jazz. their albums are hard to find, save for maybe birds of fire and inner mounting flame. i could send some to you if you want. amazon has their stuff too. i would recommend the two aforementioned ones along with the lost trident sessions. i feel those are their best.

i like some girls because of miss you and beast of burden. thats all.

My mom got my dad 40 licks for christmas, what a great compilation. Not too many bands can top a "Best of" album like that one.

It really is.

I can't believe I lost it :upset:

But seriously, that shot of them all in stewardessed uniforms....priceless.
