listening to the flood by Boris

part 1 ****in sucked.. didnt listen to it the whole way through, got 4 mins and skipped through the rest... i guess i missed out on whooshes and thumps, and more patterns of overlap. damn.

part 2 ****in rules so far and im like halfway through.

hopefully the rest is like this

edit ok actually i changed it to brian eno ambient 3

i havent heard any ambient i like more than eno's

Anxious 12-10-2007 01:52 AM

Part 1 sucks on its own, but it really has to be there in order for part 2 to seem climatic. Overall its ok.

Anus Invader 12-10-2007 02:00 AM

i'll listen to the rest later on. can't promise i'll ever listen to part 1 all the way through. all in all i feel like i'm missing out on a whole family of ambient artists... all i listen to when i'm in the mood for ambient is brian eno... could any of you that are into ambient recommend something? a lot of the time when i want ambient it's because i need to be studying so i need something smooth, slow, low-key, not demanding of attention. but after listening to the albums a bunch, i can definitely appreciate and enjoy listening to them just to listen to them, so i guess i need something else that might be able to do that for me

Anxious 12-10-2007 02:04 AM

Erik Saetie.

Anus Invader 12-10-2007 02:07 AM

sooooooooo down with Satie. perriwinkle has a Satie avatar, if you recall

like the Gymnopedie's, those are great for what i'm talking about, but a lot of his stuff is very hyper and spastic. trust me i've studied to Satie but when it gets to those parts i have to change it. but now i wanna listen to the Gymnopedie's. ughhh ****ing beautiful. i love how each one raises in key

okay 12-10-2007 02:13 AM

That album is their worst.

Neoteric 12-10-2007 10:53 AM

I disagree!

Bukowski 12-10-2007 11:54 AM

Rodan - Rusty

Not listened to this for little while but it still rules. All the songs are excellent, but "Gauge" is my new favourite. Except "Everyday World of Bodies" which is one of the best songs ever.

Khanate live would be intense as f'uck. I'm gonna try and find that.

agreed, but i really like "Shiner" because i wasnt expecting it at all (from what the preceding track was like). this is one band that probably does a better job than any of heavy/soft dynamics because the soft parts are actually soft (instead of just clean but still in downtuned minor key like many "progressive" metal bands attempt). and of course the heavy parts are actually heavy too.

Bukowski 12-10-2007 03:21 PM

yeah the first two are a real contrast, that totally threw me when I first heard the album. I tend to think of the first song as an intro to "Shiner", although it's a really good track on its own. Yeah, a deceptive intro. "Shiner" is awesome.

samariah 12-10-2007 03:25 PM

i've been wanting to hear that album but i can't find it.

Bukowski 12-10-2007 03:25 PM

I'll upload it if you want.

samariah 12-10-2007 03:28 PM

ok sweet thanks

Fucking hell these guys are great.
Hell yeah, one of my favorite bands. I think you and I are the only ones around here who truly appreciate Dando and all he does. We should start a club.

samariah 12-10-2007 05:15 PM

heh i actually just found it now.
