The very same. It's an incredible head. It's so loud through one cab 4x10 cab (GK Backline 410BLX).

Any suggestions on another cab to add for more low end? I'm thinking 1x15, but not too sure of what to look at...another GK, preferably, just so it looks nice.

go 1x18

Omega Red 12-12-2004 09:03 PM

Jaco used almost excusevly roundwounds

bottlerocket 12-12-2004 09:04 PM
guys, my guitarist is now going to vocals n guitar.
how loud will the amp need to be to be heard over everything.
The rule of thumb is that your amp should have 4 times the wattage of your guitarists to be heard.

It all depends on what amp it is, I guess.

4x the guitarist for a signer?

bottlerocket 12-12-2004 09:06 PM
Jaco used almost excusevly roundwounds
I find that ironic. I was 90% sure he used Roundwounds, but you'd assume Flatwounds for their low end, bassier sound, smoother feel, and because he used a fretless.

Meh, but it worked for Jaco.

Just 4x your guitarists' loudest amp. If one guitarist is going 100 watts and the other 110, you want about 440 watts.

However, I used a 220 watt against my guitarists' 110 watt amps (just about there) and it held up fine.

hay i just had a thought, ok so if anyone wants a fretless out of their fretted bass. if oyu ship it to me ill do the job at cost.

Ibanez GSR200 and SWR 2x10. Your EQ slightly helped, but Id like something similar to By the Way by RHCP (the song). My sound is now very smooth. My old EQ was...
Treble- 11 o'clock
High Mid- 1:30
Low Mid- 4:30-5 o'clock
Bass- 2 o'clock.

I like it a bit more. What does presence do?

ridethelightning 12-12-2004 09:08 PM

so, if the guitar amp is 100, the singer amp should be 400??

i need to know about mics n ****, not bass. i know about bass rule of thumb.
maybe theres some confusion.
how loud of an amp for the signer do we need.

Mr. Jiggy Fly 12-12-2004 09:10 PM

So... I think Im going to buy some La Bella James Jamerson flatwounds.

Oh, Wow. sorry.

My band uses a random Peavey PA and head. It's not too loud, but it gets the job done and it's pretty clear.

I'll grab the specs for you tomorrow. Just remind me.

The head is:

AudioChoice Q14

The speakers are:

AudioChoice C100 (2).

Basically, you'll need at least 2 speakers (to separate the sound and make it sound fuller, clearer, and better), a head, some extra chords to connect the speakers to the head (just regular guitar or bass chords, nothing special), a plug for the head, and some cash.

I forgot how much this PA ran us, but it's only for practice, so it wasn't too much.

Has anybody here played the Geddy Lee Jazz bass? I played one recently- It was the only jazz bass that I actually enjoyed (I would even consider buying it).

bottlerocket 12-12-2004 09:25 PM

^ I've played it and loved it. Then again, I love J basses (only Fender basses I like).
