I, myself, would be happy just to get the basics down, nevermind soloing.
Same here

np: Rush - Tom Sawyer
And Obi One Kenodi, none of those songs would be banned. At least, I can't imagine that happening. They just have a little double meaning now.
Meh, I wouldn't put it past my government...

robo2448 09-05-2005 09:22 AM

I missed out on this last night, so here are my top 10 respected musicians

1) George Harrison
2) Bob Dylan
3) Pete Townsend
4) John Lennon
5) Keith Richards/ Mick Jagger
6) David Gilmour
7) Buddy Holly
8) Robbie Robertson
9) Robert Johnson
10) Eric Clapton

That was tough.

magicbus 09-05-2005 09:42 AM

At first I couldn't get into Truth either, so I tried out Blow-By-Blow, which I loved. His guitar playing style is so unique, it's awesome to listen to what he does with it. After listening to Blow-By-Blow and Wired, I went back and checked out Truth again, and now I love it. It's a great blues-rock album, and Beck's guitar playing is pretty awesome even at that early stage. I'd give it another shot after a while if I were you.

Broken Arrow 09-05-2005 09:47 AM

Okay, I will try.

My local radio station is doing the top 945 songs this weekend. It's the top 100 today.

I almost never listen to the radio. The NY classic rock radio station blows, so whenever I listen to the radio it's the Connecticut radio station which gets bad reception. Maybe I'll tune in later today though, they're probably doing some countdown thing.

That's probably the crappiest part of the list.

It's predictable and you've heard them all.

DeusExMachina 09-05-2005 10:17 AM

I think Truth is a great album. Rod Stewart is a great vocalist, whether he's doing his own music or Jeff Beck's. But, Blow by Blow > Truth.

Actually SOYCD is on right now.

I wasnt really expecting it to make top 100.

DeusExMachina 09-05-2005 10:22 AM

What number is SOYCD?

Broken Arrow 09-05-2005 10:37 AM

77 I think.

Last year "A Day in the Life" won it.

DeusExMachina 09-05-2005 10:41 AM

They could do a lot worse than A Day in the Life. Wonderful song.

Broken Arrow 09-05-2005 10:45 AM

Yeah, I was quite surprised that it won but yeah it's a great song.

Wasn't it Townsend who was accused of checkin out child p0rno? Maybe i'm mixing that up. That would drop him on my list.

Broken Arrow 09-05-2005 10:46 AM

I tought it was Roger Daltrey.

Lunch 09-05-2005 10:52 AM

No, it was Townshend. Either way, I still repsect him as a musician.

robo2448 09-05-2005 10:54 AM
No, it was Townshend. Either way, I still repsect him as a musician.
Same with me. That does lower my overall respect for him though.

Lunch 09-05-2005 10:55 AM

My respect for Townshend outside of the musical realm isn't very high anyway. But I have a whole lot of respect for him as a musician.

robo2448 09-05-2005 10:59 AM
My respect for Townshend outside of the musical realm isn't very high anyway. But I have a whole lot of respect for him as a musician.
The constant Who reunions to make more money lowered my respect for him too. But as a songwriter, I've got a lot of respect for him. Actually, just because of Tommy.

Yea, but didn't the case end in his favor?

Wasn't he just looking up a child charity and accidentally ran into a child p0rn site?

Broken Arrow 09-05-2005 11:05 AM

#69

CSNY-Woodstock

Not a bad list.

I think that's what happened. I'll believe that it was an accident and since no harm was done that it wasn't really a big deal.

Broken Arrow 09-05-2005 11:35 AM

Finally I heard one of the songs that I voted for.

White Room.

99.1? The CT one is alraight, but they usually just play AC/DC or the very best known of the CR songs. We are lucky to have a really good independent radio station that plays world/cr/alt/indie/blues/pretty much anything

ATM 09-05-2005 12:01 PM

I got my first Dr John album last night. :-D

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 09-05-2005 12:13 PM

Really? Are you sure? I heard he looked it up, and then claimed it was for research when he was caught.

That's what I heard on the radio a little while ago.

Great album :thumb:

Walrus, the CT station I sometimes get reception to is 95.9 the fox. It's Fairfield County, so I don't know if you get reception to it. It seems much better than the NY one, but plays a lot of the same songs... Layla, Hotel California... Sometimes I hear good stuff on it though.
Really? Are you sure? I heard he looked it up, and then claimed it was for research when he was caught.
Yeah sure...research.

My friend is going to see the Stones in Columbus. I'm horribley jealous. I could go if I had $800.
Me and Livewired quit, sort of.

I think it's really lame now. The community thread is beyond repair, and the Classic Rock thread is either the same old topics or just Badmoon talking about country music. There isn't enough variety, and everyone on MX is forced into thinking the same way. It's a waste of time sometimes, and real friends are cooler than internet ones.
WTF

 Post a link, perhaps? I find this highly amusing.

How did you find that? Reading every page of a community thread on a forum you don't post on?

You barely ever just talk about country music :\

That's low.

funny that badmon took the time to find that out...

I'm a member of both too, but I think I'm just going to sit and watch this "fight" instead of getting involved :)
