Indeed it is.

Neurotoxin 09-06-2005 06:02 PM

I'd have to agree. Killing In The Name, Take The Power Back, and Know Your Enemy must be my favourite tracks by them.

Lunch 09-06-2005 06:04 PM

I really like Township Rebellion.

Lord Abortion 09-06-2005 06:37 PM

Again, I...take issue with the band's politics, while that doesn't have anything to do with the musicianship...I really dislike left-wing politics.

superpeer 09-06-2005 06:38 PM

Why?

Lord Abortion 09-06-2005 06:46 PM
Why?
I think it's the student thing, I hate the liberal students I know because they neither understand the politics or really believe in the issues. They vote liberal and follow liberal values because they think it's the "student" thing to do.
I don't like the oppisite end of the spectrum either, I just prefer to havepolitics out of the music I feel most strongly about. And because being liberal is considered the norm among musicians...And I don't see why that should be peticuarly.

Sorry, this is probably not what I think at all. It's nearly 2am :p
and my brain is a little frazzled. So just take that as a working theory of mine for now and I'll elaborate tomorrow

EDIT::

the good man otherside has explained it better than I have.

There are a lot of musicians who are conservative, though, aren't there? I mean, jeez...the fucking Ramones are conservative...or at least Johnny was. I know in the punk music scene there is that conservativepunk.com site but I don't recognize any of the bands who are affiliated with them.
I think that the reason there is so much politics in music nowadays is because there's definately enough fuel for it. I know people that can talk about how wonderful (or horrible) Bush is for ages, and I guess musicians can latch onto that, form their own opinons and express it through their music.

If what I just wrote has nothing much to do with what you posted, you can forget about it. I'm a bit tired, myself.
Haha, then no one can deny that Power Metal is gay anymore.
People used to say Power Metal gay? whoa...
You need to hear them; they're amazing.
Yeah, I'm actually going to burn the album right now and listen to it later on tonight.

sorry but this is such a good post I thought it's central to my politics argument.

This is why I would quite like stars... to give this man +++ rep

Neurotoxin 09-06-2005 07:01 PM

Hey Leah, have you heard any Warmen?

Why does it matter what a 13 year old's view on politics is? They're not even of age to vote. Anyways, they will most definitely mature and form their own beliefs by the time they are of voting age.

Shadows 09-06-2005 07:04 PM

She should've. I uploaded several tracks from him in our other forum. I think Janne's one of the best keyboardists on metal alive today.

Neurotoxin 09-06-2005 07:05 PM

Yeah man. I'm listening to "Beyond Abilities". Quite impressive.

I've heard one song, because the rest of the uploads Ben got me didn't work. Why do you ask?

I agree. Though I'm not of age either, I keep myself informed and I know what is going on in the news pretty much all the time. I don't think a 13 year old...unless they are extremely...well...different, can know enough about politics to have an intelligent conversation with an adult about it, and at least sound like they know what they're talking about.

Shadows 09-06-2005 07:07 PM

Definitely. Catchy as hell and extremely complex. I'd like to hear his vocals - when he was at a Finnish music conservatory he was voted worst singer in his class by a teacher.

Just wondering. I thought you may like them.

You miss the point, Rage against the machine are like this, the politics is ultra-liberal, without much thought behind it, and the fans (not all 13 years old) follow their opinions blindly.

Screw it, that was probably bollocks, I'm going to bed

Dr. Jake Destructo 09-06-2005 07:08 PM
I really like Township Rebellion.
Me too. One of my favorites from the S/T. Cowbells + Digeree Do bass effect =pwn!

Ok. Disliking a band because of their political beleifs are about as justified as valid as not liking a person because their favorite color is blue when you like green.

Taste_My_Scythe 09-06-2005 07:09 PM

Who, Janne?

Later, Ollie. Sorry if I fucked with your theory. :)

Shattered_Future 09-06-2005 07:10 PM

Rage had a couple of good political songs in their heyday...

I dunno, I just steer clear of the whole politics thing...seems all people do is find ways to make the other look like a moron.

Moses 09-06-2005 07:10 PM

Ollie, you would hate my school. We have those fuckers running around everywhere. I'm probably more liberal than conservative but the liberals tend to be more annoying.

Yep, Janne. Look for my "Janne > GOD" avatar/usertitle combo sometime in the near future. :D

I'l re-upload the songs for you since apparently rapidshare blows.

That is does. Thaaaank you so much. :D

Yeah, I'll have to come up with a new usertitle too. Once I get my HateCrew avatar, the HateCrew in the usertitle will be a little redundant. :)

superpeer 09-06-2005 07:21 PM

Just because some people choose to follow it because it's trendy doesn't mean that left wing politics are crap. Those people are just retarded. Simple.

Cain 09-06-2005 07:22 PM
Cain, do you ever focus on guitar tricks, or is it all playing with you?
You mean like funny noises, or show-offy techniques? I take my whammy bar out of the bridge sometimes and make "hot babe" whistling noises and laser shots with it, but that's the extent of it. Also, feeding back with a flanger and a wah on at the same time is awesome sounding.

I'm not sure what you mean though, and this is a late response. :-/

Quoted for agreement, and thank you.

I'm going to have to try that wah/flange deal. Do you need a crapload of flange, or like, an amount that is actual useable in a song?

Maybe I'll just go play with it for a while.

Jelle- I couldn't agree more. Mindless bashing is about as ignorant as the mindless following that is being criticized.

Taste_My_Scythe 09-06-2005 07:27 PM

Does anyone have any tips on pinch harms? :upset: I still can't get them.

Jom 09-06-2005 07:29 PM
Does anyone have any tips on pinch harms? :upset: I still can't get them.
Turn your distortion up all the way.

Cain 09-06-2005 07:31 PM
Turn your distortion up all the way.
That's terrible advice. :p

Dr. Jake Destructo 09-06-2005 07:31 PM

What you need:
-Distortion(Go Jom)
-Bridge/Humbucker P/U
-Move your thumb towards the point of your pick
-When you pick, move your hand up and down the string. This will help you find the more sensitive harmonic nodes.

Taste_My_Scythe 09-06-2005 07:32 PM
Turn your distortion up all the way.
 Yeah, I can get them then...but I really want to learn how to do them properly. Oh, and whenever I actually do them...it's by accident. Then I can't figure out how I actually did it.

Thanks, Jake. :thumb:
