What albums of theirs do you already own?

TheDMV 05-10-2005 07:39 PM
that was sooooo 10 seconds ago robo.

Thats a sweet shirt lunch. Does look a little Marley-ish. I noticed a sudden uproar in Grateful Dead shirts, as well as Zeppelin (all the same too). Ive been getting into that physcadelic stuff lately too, hence the avators
Could I get your old one?

I'm listening to Freak Out! right now CG. I'm on track 2. It's so diffrent. It's a very cool album. I'll go more indepth when I'm finished listeining to it.

Distant Echoes 05-10-2005 07:41 PM

American Beauty, in the dark, greatest hits.

I've heard a ton of songs on the AOL radio for the past week too, which is why i want more, but they just say all the songs come from a greatest hits album.

Im gonna head out now anyway. If anybody wants to do some AIM trading tomorrow or the day after, whenever the hell Im on, echoes4258. I can give you my list of music, since i dont wanna waste space on here.

JonG 05-10-2005 07:50 PM

I need a CSN or Dream Theater shirt.

lunch998 05-10-2005 08:05 PM

I haven't found any CSN shirts.

Jam2Me 05-10-2005 08:10 PM

This site is pretty decent for shirts...especially if you don't have a Credit Card.

If you want good/less seen Grateful Dead shirts, go to their site or Liquid Blue.

Has anyone heard of the following Classical Rock bands?

Saxon
Thunder
Quireboys
UFO
Yes

Spectrum 05-10-2005 08:57 PM

Yes is constantly in my 3 CD cycle in my stereo. They are one of my favorite bands.

The others, however, are new-ish to me.

I've heard Yes and UFO, and I think I've only heard of Saxon, but not any of their music, though I could have with out knowing it.

no

yes, I like Yes (omg!)

Spectrum 05-10-2005 11:33 PM

^The long version: Yes are/were an amazing band, especially in the early seventies, the so-called "Classic Lineup" (such as on Fragile and Close to the Edge) and its very near approximations (such as on The Yes Album and Tales From Topographic Oceans). Steve Howe is my guitar hero (listen to "Clap". Mind-blowingly great stuff). I wish I could sing like Jon Anderson. And God almighty, if I could play the keys like Rick Wakeman. They produced some of the most profound Prog of the 70's, alongside Rush and Pink Floyd, and had lots of very memorable, if rambling, songs.

The short version: I love Yes. :D

oooh dont forget the rythym section. chris squire is a god among bassists and is respected as thus. bill bruford was and still is a freaking amazing drummer. remarkable actually. and alan white was no slouch either.

Broken Arrow 05-11-2005 02:15 PM

So what is the best Yes album to get started with?

Illmatic 05-11-2005 02:20 PM

Yes = :-\

Not too keen on prog, to be honest. It takes the blues out of rock and roll, for one.

And I have had people tell me prog has jazz influences, but from what I've heard it doesn't have enough soul to be jazz-y.

Get Fragile, than The Yes Album, and than Close to the Edge. Tales From Topographic Oceans is awesome, too.

Ok, thanks.

I've only heard their radio played stuff. (Owner of a Lonely Hart, Roundabout etc.)

well, a lot of prog has a lot of their influence from classical music, which appears to be more prominent to me. have you listened to king crimson though? theyre less jazzy, more avant garde. really cool stuff. bill bruford drummed for them too, and as you may know, he gained some notoriety as a jazz drummer. but yeah, yes, elp, etc. all take a lot of their sound from classical music.

Seafroggys 05-11-2005 03:32 PM

Hmm, the second song on King Crimson's "In the Wake of Poseidon" is pretty kick *** jazzy. Forgot the name, but you might want to look that up.

Broken Arrow 05-11-2005 03:34 PM

Same with 21st Century Schizoid Man. Kinda.

Question!

On the storyline of Tommy, what does the mirror do to Tommy?

The mom breaks it and it brings down his disabilities, so, in the words of Tommy's mom, "How does the mirror affect you?"

ledpoisoning27 05-11-2005 05:29 PM

I broke a mirror when I was 7.

lunch998 05-11-2005 06:05 PM

It's a special mirror. Basically that plot makes no sense to begin with, so why should it start there?

Badmoon 05-11-2005 06:16 PM

MalcolmYoungRock 05-11-2005 06:18 PM

Well, it all makes sense up to the mirror part... wait, no it doesn't.

Damn.

Wow, I think your the closest one to ever find the plot to Tommy.

lunch998 05-11-2005 06:23 PM

The only logical way for a deaf, dumb and blind boy who plays pinball to be cured is by breaking a special mirror. Duh.

Doesn't breaking a mirror make you cursed?
