Walmarts around here have a retardedly low limit on how many boxes of each ammo type they can carry at a time.
why the hell do you need to walk into the average highstreet shop and be able to walk out with arm fulls of ammunition

mnemonic 03-15-2010 12:42 PM

i believe the real question should be, why shouldn't we be able to?

Squirrel 03-15-2010 12:45 PM

so anyone should be able to walk into a regular high street shop, and buy as much ammunition as they please

just like buying eggs or bread

but with bullets

that go in guns

killing your neighbors is bad

Left Face Down 03-15-2010 01:21 PM

My grandmother has a WWII Lugar. Supposedly one of my relatives (want to say her husband but can't recall) picked it up off a dead German. That and she has a hunting rifle that was my great grandmother's hunting rifle and a shotgun of hers which are apparently worth some cash as they are from like 1907.

Shopping list:

Bread
Bacon
Eggs
Cheese
Salad, wait no salad isn't fattening
lard
9mm beretta rounds
dog food
McDonalds
Lawsuit filed against McDonalds.
over-inflated sense of moral superiority
peanut butter

Squirrel 03-15-2010 02:34 PM

good list other than when i go to do my "groceries" it pisses me off that the local store has such low levels of FIREARM AMMUNITION that i can only leave with 200 rounds aka the capacity to kill 200 people

but **** it the question is why SHOULDNT i be able to

mnemonic 03-15-2010 03:09 PM

yeah i mean everyone who owns a gun owns it for the sole purpose of killing people, no such thing as recreational shooting and hunting.

Sad But True 03-15-2010 03:09 PM

Everyone knows an active lifestyle and a healthy, balanced diet isn't complete with AT LEAST 400 rounds.

Left Face Down 03-15-2010 03:10 PM

Seriously, need more than 200 rounds so when the 200+ people break into my house and try to steal my shit I can kill them all. Then of course they can't all be one shot kills so I need at least 2 bullets per person.

Always loved the draw of a sniper rifle. One shot, one kill. No Rambo, no... you kill them or **** yourself over and give away your position. So you better hit that bastard.

Modern Iconoclast 03-15-2010 03:24 PM

It's not even 100 rounds, it's like a 1 box per person limit. My brother bought a handgun for target shooting and it was like 6 months before he got ammo for it because every store he went to had gone through their supply by the time he got there each day.

mnemonic 03-15-2010 03:39 PM

i remember apparently there was some shortage right when obama was elected cos everyone got paranoid he was gonna start restricting things so they ran out and stocked up on ammo, thus creating a surge in demand, leading to a shortage. i laughed.

Left Face Down 03-15-2010 03:46 PM

Since Obama got elected I've wanted to get in touch with my inner Republican. That and my mother want's to get a permit. Go go crazy mother wanting to learn how to fire a weapon.

Closest thing I got is my family has a B.B. gun which I use to fire with my Dad when I was young. I don't have the primal instinct to shoot everything that lives. Just one or two liberals. Scaring the shit out of Pelosi might be the only way to allow her to actually show her emotions through her plastic surgeries.

Edit:

Ever just randomly get the need to go do something you haven't done in a while? I don't know, I want to go bowling for some reason. Haven't really bowled much since my knee decided it hated me royal like.
West Jesmond is the only place to live if you're a student in Newcastle.

I made an active effort to NOT live in Sandyford, Heaton etc.
West jesmond seemed proper expensive though, we went round a few houses on our search this year and they were either within our price range and falling apart or 70+ a week. **** that.

Also got stuck at west jesmond metro one day and had to walk back through the whole of jesmond - saw so many friggin rahs on the way, looked pretty terrible

AG 03-15-2010 05:16 PM

I payed £54 a week in Jesmond.

Anyways, gun law in the UK is a bit complex.

You can own an airgun or air rifle with no license (but they take your name and address when you buy it) providing that it produces no more than 12 ft/lbs or pressure at the muzzle.

You can shoot on your own land or land on which you have the permission of the landowner, and you may shoot the following:

Crow, Magpie, Dove, Pigeon, Grey Squirrel, Rat/Mouse, Rabbit.

Owning an air rifle that produces more than 12 ft/lbs at the muzzle requires a FAC license (pretty much trivial, just have to proove that you have a use for it or are a dedicated hobbyist - a member of a club for example)

You can own a small bore single action rifle (like a .22 long) with a liscence, but they are harder to get. You also have to store the rifle in a locked gun case attached to a wall. It's the same for shotguns - but again harder to get the liscence. You pretty much have to be a farmer to get your hands on a shotgun.

All of this applies to 18+ unless you're 16 with the permission of an adult.

Semi-Auto and Full Auto are really badly restricted and a civilian can't get their hands on one.

Blades are a different matter. You can have what you want in your house (unless it's classed as an offensive weapon - like a balisong or switchblade) but you can't carry anything but a small folding knife (blade under 3") that doesn't lock out.

Anyway, sup lod?

I lol'd hard at that too 'cause I live in redneck rightwing central. People were scrambling to stock up on every weapon they could get their hands on like they honestly thought Obama was gonna send government agents to their houses to oppress them

I'm not like those people who sit on their front porch with their guns all the time like they can't live without them, I just grew up hunting. I've fired just about every kind of rifle there is, not many handguns though. I might get a C&C permit depending on where I end up living after I graduate but I doubt I'll have a need for it. I still prefer hunting with a bow over a gun, nothing like tracking a wild animal through a forest with a bow like people have been doing for thousands of years lol.

I didn't mean every make and model, that would be crazy. I meant I've shot most rifles roughly categorized by the type of ammo they use. I own a Yugoslavian SKS rifle that fires 7.62x39mm, I've fired a Russian Mosin-Nagant that uses 7.62x54mm, an M1 Garand and other rifles that use .30-06, a British Lee-Enfield that fires .303, my grandfather owns a German Kar98k that shoots 7.92x57mm, and so on. There are some less common ammo types I've never fired like .17 or anything .50 cal and up. Thought I'd like to get my hands on something that could fire this lol

I want to shoot an NTW-20

On the left .50 cal

On the right, the 20mm that the NTW-20 takes.

Blue_Moon 03-16-2010 11:42 AM

the light shud go off when the stores closed

either way, it's a genius idea for a storefront

Yeah the 20mm is freakin brutal, how much do those rounds cost? The .950 JDJ in that picture is $40 lol.

I also want some A&W LFD. I wish the A&W restaurant here hadn't closed a few years ago, the root beer you could get from there was even better than what you can buy in stores.

Sad But True 03-16-2010 12:54 PM

What is root beer?
What is root beer?
Root beer tastes like dental alginate. Try once just to see, then avoid.
