None of the tracks lived up to Pork and Beans to me. I'm not sure there's another good album in Weezer to be honest.
A lot of people say that because that was the first single, and it was reminiscent of old Weezer. Everyone was thinking, "oh man, they're making music like the old stuff," but that just wasn't the case. I think there are WAY better, and much more catchy, songs on the album than Pork and Beans.

But that's just my opinion.

that's a lot of opinion, right there.

FunkMetalBass 07-17-2009 09:05 AM

Opinion 4x.

Sup, Fatty?

gaslight 07-17-2009 10:48 AM

Got some of those DR Hi-Beams strings the other day. Still not sure what I think of them, I'm definitely not 100% enamoured with them though. I wanted to try the Lo-Riders but they didn't have any.

FunkMetalBass 07-17-2009 10:58 AM

Depends on the sound you're going for, I guess. I put some EB Hybrid Slinkies on my Music Man, and they were pretty good. I just got a set of the Hybrid Slinkies, but I got the stainless steels instead of the nickels. MAN they are bright and punchy and awesome!

I still have to try those Fodera strings on my Schecter.

I still have to get my Schecter working.

Gaslight, what sort of tone are you going for, and what bass are you playing?

gaslight 07-17-2009 11:05 AM

I play an SR500, I prefer a mellow tone. Been an Elixir man for a long time but then money got too tight to replace them when one broke so I was using an assortment of pre-loved, non-matched D'Addario nickel wounds that one of my bass teachers donated to me.

I usually use quite worn in strings so I'm not surprised that I'm not digging these as much as I could be, worth a try though. If I wanted a stiff, bright, punchy string I'd be very happy. That said, these are pretty awesome for slap, though I don't slap very much. I might like these a bit more after a few weeks of breaking them in.

BenJammin 07-17-2009 12:46 PM

Finished up another track last night, instrumentally.

FunkMetalBass 07-17-2009 02:31 PM

I'm thinking about trading my Ibanez Roadstar II guitar for an OLP MM1 guitar. Should I do it?

Tryxx 07-17-2009 02:46 PM

With Reason and a MIDI keyboard would you guys still buy a Kaossilator? Just for kicks, mostly.

FunkMetalBass 07-17-2009 03:23 PM

I totally would. The more gear, the more potential.

Tryxx 07-17-2009 03:25 PM

Yeah. I just want a new toy to fiddle around with. Mostly I'd just be plugging up some headphones and entertaining myself. I think I'll get it next paycheck.

Mr. Pickle 07-17-2009 03:30 PM
that's a lot of opinion, right there.
Too much for you, fag.

low estimate of show turnout tomarrow: 100
high estimate : 800

That's impressive. I don't think we could pull more than 50 people at a time if we tried.

I just really don't like pop-industrial music that's all.

It's always trying to convey anger but the anger is usually very lulzy. And otherwise I just don't like most synthy **** I prefer "real" instruments (in quotations because I can't think of a better word for it atm)
That's impressive. I don't think we could pull more than 50 people at a time if we tried.
thanks, it sucks being uncertain about the possiblity of a big crowd though, we did a ton of meat to meat talking to people about the bands, the show and the venue and people seem to be really into it, passed out 2,000 flyers in our town and the city 15 miles north of us.

gaslight 07-17-2009 08:29 PM

Nice crowd numbers, are you guys headlining? Let us know how the head count goes.

BenJammin 07-17-2009 10:08 PM
With Reason and a MIDI keyboard would you guys still buy a Kaossilator? Just for kicks, mostly.
No. I had a Kaossilator. It's a toy, and nothing else. Limited sound potential, finicky controls, small sound bank. No, no, no.

If you want something to entertain yourself with on the bus, then maybe, but as a real instrument, it's overpriced bullshit.

gaslight 07-17-2009 10:11 PM

If you want something to tool around on and don't have a guitar, it's worth getting one.

BenJammin 07-17-2009 10:32 PM

I really don't think so. You'd be better off getting something else, and/or not wasting $200.

gaslight 07-17-2009 10:48 PM

How is a guitar a waste of money?
How is a guitar a waste of money?
Sorry, mis-read your post. I thought you meant it was worth getting a Kaossilator if you didn't have a guitar. The dumb: I've got it.

A guitar is totally worth getting. I've got a beater in parts that I'm about to re-paint and re-assemble in the near future.

funkyhoney 07-17-2009 10:54 PM

I want to learn flamenco :(

I have a feeling I wouldn't have the patience.

ok so by that definition any instrument that is operated electronically is not a valid instrument

is all you listen to live folk music played with ukes fiddles and bongos?

Epidemechanical 07-19-2009 08:48 PM

I have a friend like that, it makes me laugh. He even had some chick who a few people are after obviously wanting to get into his pants and he said no for... no apparent reason, when I talked to him later he suggested that perhaps he should "lower his standards". I agreed.

He's not fat or acne ridden; he's just a moron.

idiocy? because I don't like the sound of synths or pop or industrial music?

get off your high horse dude you completely misinterpreted my post. My original post you're arguing about isn't supposed to have any negative connotation to it whatsoever.
