RetiredAt21 08-20-2010 10:01 AM

dude would you please stop namedropping random mediocre band that just stumble across on the millions of blogs im sure you frequent, give it a rest jeez, clearly nobody is interested in any of these hundreds of bands you post relentlessly

run on ****ing sentences

christsimpson 08-20-2010 10:05 AM

I don't visit blogs any more. don't have time. also this is pretty sweet, and I don't really care if you miss out. your loss. I gave you the link. that's all I can do.

either way they rule. remind me a lot of Elements of Need. I wonder why they aren't more popular... this style of emo is pretty big. especially amongst all the people who "grow out of" emo, and only listen to a few bands. this sounds like one of those bands.

in his defense, usurp synapse is not a mediocre band. Spirit of Versailles and WTPY were good too, but I'll take Song of Zarathustra over both any day.

RetiredAt21 08-20-2010 10:12 AM

i like those bands, im talkin about those no name bands that only he knows about and no one else cares about

whiteminority 08-20-2010 10:13 AM

yeah i understand completely, but then again we don't listen to fight fair and live skram life, lol.

RetiredAt21 08-20-2010 10:14 AM

hahahahah

christsimpson 08-20-2010 10:15 AM

the mid-west style is seemingly infinitely popular, and bands like Rue Morgue and The Lady Is Not For Burning play a variation on that style. they are well liked, and for a reason.

I know you prefer the more polished and technical stuff like Orchid, pg.99 and other "organised chaos" bands. but I'm way more into the purity and rawness of this style.

whiteminority 08-20-2010 10:17 AM

wait are you saying that pg. 99 isn't raw?

/head explodes

RetiredAt21 08-20-2010 10:17 AM

rue morgue doesnt really sound like a midwest band, they sound more like xvpopdmx tbh

christsimpson 08-20-2010 10:20 AM

@Ben

I viewed that post because I felt it might be directed at me, and I can see that you haven't been mean to me for the last two consecutive posts, so maybe I should remove you from my ignore list?

either way, yes I am. they are "organised chaos". at least the best of their material. (like the City of Caterpillar split). it's not raw compared to e.g. Rue Morgue or The Lady Is Not For Burning. it might be emotionally raw, but the sound itself doesn't suggest it as flagrantly as the sound of the before mentioned bands.

@Justin

I didn't say they played the mid-west style, just that they were clearly influenced by it. The Lady Is Not For Burning are probably a little bit closer to it though.

whiteminority 08-20-2010 10:20 AM

i thought the midwest style was like cap'n jazz and ****. unless he means like the Init Records scene, which would make a little more sense.

RetiredAt21 08-20-2010 10:21 AM

yeah when someone says "midwest emo" i automatically think of cap'n jazz and the promise ring

whiteminority 08-20-2010 10:21 AM

i dunno those early 7"s were raw as ****...

christsimpson 08-20-2010 10:22 AM

uhm I'm talking about Steven's Init label, yes - LOL.

whiteminority 08-20-2010 10:25 AM
uhm I'm talking about Steven's Init label, yes - LOL.
Who's Steven? Was he in one of those bands you mentioned?

I used to be an Init Records whore: Dispensing of False Halos! Sinking Steps, Rising Eyes! Kite Flying Society!

christsimpson 08-20-2010 10:25 AM

if you want mid-west emo as in the alternative and math based emo, as opposed to the mid-west emo as in hardcore based emo - get Empire! Empire! (I Was A Lonely Estate) and Everyone Everywhere.

RetiredAt21 08-20-2010 10:26 AM

i ****ing love kite flying society, sinking steps rising eyes arent bad either

whiteminority 08-20-2010 10:27 AM

KFS has degraded into just like two or three tolerable songs in my eyes. SSRS were cool, but a little too Ash for me.
I used to be an Init Records whore: Dispensing of False Halos! Sinking Steps, Rising Eyes! Kite Flying Society!
he's Init recs.

Dispensing of False Halos, Kite Flying Society and The Spirit of Versailles are great. haven't listened enough to the other releases to say anything about them. I like what I've heard by Sinking Steps, Rising Eyes though.

haven't he put out The Kidcrash vinyl as well? maybe he just distributed it.

RetiredAt21 08-20-2010 10:28 AM

awwwwwwww i miss fatty :<

EDIT: @ ben

whiteminority 08-20-2010 10:30 AM

The Kidcrash is a little too recent for me to have an understanding of their releases. I haven't kept up as much as I did in high school. He probably distributed it though that or Titus who does Vinyl Junkie Distro, which has so much screamo it's insane.

christsimpson 08-20-2010 10:32 AM

The Kidcrash are pretty good. their first album is the best. it's sort of in between The Promise Ring and New Found Glory. then they got screamo. and now they sound like Daniel Striped Tiger playing Frenchmo. you should totally check them out. I have all releases on my blog. or you could just head over to Denovali to avoid my blog, lol. get New Ruins and Snacks.

Iluvatar 08-20-2010 10:35 AM

jokes is better than either of those

and thats not saying MUCH

christsimpson 08-20-2010 10:36 AM

Jokes is not in any way better than New Ruins. I like Snacks better than Jokes as well. it's more melodic. opening track is mad fresh.

RetiredAt21 08-20-2010 10:45 AM

i dont like kidcrash at all

DBlitz 08-20-2010 10:48 AM

jokes is pretty awesome

Iluvatar 08-20-2010 10:58 AM

new ruins is just as bad as they say it is

I've heard I think a split they did with L'antietam and it was alright. I'm not terribly big on DST anymore, but I dig french bands. Would you say they're similar to Daitro?

christsimpson 08-20-2010 11:11 AM

@John
New Ruins is freaking awesome.

@Ben
idk. I mean they prefer melody over dissonance... and their guitars sound much more like European (particularly French) than American emo...

yeah okay. let's say they do sound a bit like Daïtro. they are less crescendo-dependent and progressive than Daïtro's last album, but at the same time they're less dissonant than earlier Daïtro releases as well.
