The Cynic 05-17-2006 06:58 PM

I just want some soft slow songs. Kinda like Nickelbacks Hero or something. Just in the mood for those types of songs.

Sleepy 05-17-2006 07:01 PM

Slow?

Then you want more recent Katatonia, Anathema, Agalloch, November's Doom (slow but heavy), Pelican, and The Devin Townsend Band.

Devy is great when you need a break from typical metal.

Shattered_Future 05-17-2006 07:02 PM

Yea, but Devy's not acoustic in any sense of the word. Happy/uplifting, yes, but he's still mad heavy.

Slow soft songs? Even though she's not really like Opeth in any way, Tori Amos is always good for some great chill music.

Try Pinapple Thief.

Nepenthe 05-17-2006 07:08 PM

(Time to throw out my obligatory folk/viking recommendations)

Try Ulver's Kveldssanger or Empyrium's Where At Night The Wood Grousse Plays. Both are completely acoustic, and soothing and beautiful as hell.

EDIT: Ack, wrong album  It's corrected now.

Nerina Pallot - Damascus

/first thing I thought of

Sleepy 05-17-2006 07:30 PM
Is 'Hero' the Superman song?
I thought it was Spiderman...

Tyler 05-17-2006 07:32 PM

Yeah, it's spider man.

Go with Green Carnation's Acoustic Verses for the slow recommendation.

Riva 05-17-2006 07:34 PM

I thought the hero song involving superman was Five For Fighting - Superman (It's Not Easy).

ACircuitShock 05-17-2006 07:52 PM
I thought the hero song involving superman was Five For Fighting - Superman (It's Not Easy).
You are correct sir.

For soft accousitic stuff go for Opeth-Damnation or Pink Moon by Nick Drake.

Tyler 05-17-2006 07:55 PM

His original suggestion was asking for things in the vein of Damnation...

Either way, I stand by my recommendation; Green Carnation - Acoustic Verses

Oops, didn't see that. Good suggestion BTW.

Don't see you a lot anymore in the R&M.

me = high_voltage_acdc since I don't think I've seen you post since my name change a few months ago.

Riva 05-17-2006 09:37 PM
You are correct sir.

An album similar to Nick Drake's style is The Good Son by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds.

Bartender 05-18-2006 06:19 AM
Try Canvas Solaris. They're instrumental though.
Do you have their new one yet? I should be getting it soon, hoping it's worth it.

I'm actually here quite a bit, just not posting all that often :)

wrathchild88 05-18-2006 11:09 AM

What Mekong Delta album should I get first?
Assuming I can find it of course!

Bartender 05-18-2006 02:11 PM

I've been meaning to check out the self-titled for ages now, having heard it was good.

munky_magik 05-18-2006 03:19 PM
Do you have their new one yet? I should be getting it soon, hoping it's worth it.
I sort of have it in Mp3 form thanks to Neuro.
I've mostly forgotten that I have it though, so I'm not really sure if it's good.

Freezing Moon 05-18-2006 03:30 PM

Mekong Delta is cool progressive thrash type stuff. Both the self-titled and The Music of Erich Zann are great.

Ah well, perhaps then it's me who doesnt post in the same threads as you or something.

Anyways, greatings, hadn't seen you forever. :)

Progressive thrash sounds interesting.

The Cynic 05-21-2006 10:23 PM

What album is Tears In Heaven by Clapton on? The non-live version

Dark_Hero 05-22-2006 02:37 PM

Somebody reccommend me some good Fear Before The March Of Flames songs.

Riva 05-22-2006 06:18 PM
What album is Tears In Heaven by Clapton on? The non-live version
I believe it first appears on Unplugged.

Riva 05-23-2006 04:48 PM

Go punch a sack of potatoes, Colonial.
Somebody reccommend me some good Fear Before The March Of Flames songs.
Never heard them, sorry, but apparently the first album is good.

Txus 05-23-2006 06:04 PM

Well I love this guys, try:

Should Have Stayed In The Shallows
Go Wash Your Mouth, I Don't Know Where It's Been
The Lisbon Girls, Oh The Lisbon Girls
Whiskey Is Alright In Its Place, But Its Place Is In Hell
Hey Kid. I'm A Computer. Stop All The Downloading
The 20th Century Was Entirely Mine

The Cynic 05-26-2006 11:09 PM

Can someone reccomend me some acoustic songs along the lines of Creed's Lullaby and Opeth's stuff?

gmoneyguy 05-27-2006 12:14 AM

Aren't you on the mailing list? Damnation was sent out not too long ago.

FolkVikingFan 05-27-2006 01:02 AM

Damnation is an amazing album

Bartender 05-27-2006 05:23 AM

That's probably why he's wanting similar recommendations?

metalkingtiger 05-28-2006 06:26 PM

Hey, sorry to revive this old thread but can any Overkill fans recommend me their best albums?

Feel The Fire and The Years Of Decay are the best.

Riva 05-29-2006 06:31 AM

Feel The Fire and The Years Of Decay are the best.
The Years Of Decay is the better of those two, in mine not so humble opinion.

Apocalyptic Raids 05-29-2006 06:37 AM

I prefer Feel The Fire. I've never liked The Years Of Decay as much as everyone else seems to.

/runs from RCA

Riva 05-29-2006 06:39 AM

You'd better hightail away from Animosity, also.

Apocalyptic Raids 05-29-2006 06:41 AM

and ThrashMaster.

They can smell an even slightly negative comment on Overkill from a mile away

>_>

<_<

Stoic 05-29-2006 08:26 AM

Horrorscope is supposed to be their classic. How come you didnt mentioned it Jono boy?

Apocalyptic Raids 05-29-2006 08:27 AM

I haven't heard that one

>_>

MRDuCran 06-04-2006 12:43 PM

Aight, here we go.

I have the complete Sonatica Arctica and Death discography, so what's a good album or some good songs by either of them??

Also, same for:
Wintersun
At the Gates
Arsis
In Flames.

Anything will be appreciated.

Stoic 06-04-2006 12:58 PM

uhh...why do you ask since you already have their discography?
