you think an album they havent even finished writing is going to be out in the next 7 months?
uh no. Kezia was delayed by about a year, Fortress a few months. I wouldn't get your hopes up.
Ok then maybe it will come out by the end of this year.. I didn't know where they are right now in the process. I know they started writing Fortress in January, 2007 and finished it in early August, and it was supposed to come out in November but was pushed back to January, 2008. When they're in writing mode they seem to be pretty efficient. But hey, maybe they'll start playing one or two new songs in May already, cause they kinda toured the **** out of Fortress and Kezia..and back in 2007 they played Bloodmeat live pretty early on.. |
gotta love Bloodmeat
I wouldn't be surprised if we saw some badly done Youtube videos bearing the name "Protest the Hero- New Song LIVE!" popping up by the end of this year.
They first played new songs off Fortress in March or May the year it was released, so it's entirely possible. It was Dissentience and one of the Goddess songs. I can't remember which. I was there, though. It was at some poopty free thing in Burlington.
It was May. It had to have been May. |
erm wasn't it released like january or feb 2008?
jan 29th 2008. Fortress came out on my birthday.
erm wasn't it released like january or feb 2008?
Yeah, and they first played songs from it the May before that. |
oh I see what you mean. So if they were playing Fortress tracks about 8 months before the album officially dropped... so if they're looking at a 2011 release, I think it's safe to assume they'll be playing new tracks by late summer-autumn of this year.
faaaack I hope they move in the right direction with the new release. |
I'll keep it general but they should hopefully be starting demoing soon.
you think an album they havent even finished writing is going to be out in the next 7 months?
Takes me about three hours to write an album. I don't dick around like metal bands though. |

Chick needs to get plowed in the face to sort that bratty voice out. |
Yeah she is meh.
After seeing the video of her just chillin, she is kinda hot. I like her hair. |
I absolutely loved Fortress, it's a shame that by the time they release another I will have utterly stopped listening to metal.
kind of a stupid thing to say
nothing stupid about it. Protest is my favorite metal band in terms of speed, power and testosterone, but my taste for metal has significantly diminished. If the gang went back in time to 2008 to give me their next album, I would have **** my presently out-of-style pants. Unless they decide to write prog metal I probably won't even bother past the first single.
They already write prog metal, and yes, that is a stupid thing to say. You go on about how much you love(d) Fortress but say you won't bother with the next one implying you're "beyond" it.

er if the music's good, you should be able to appreciate it, regardless of what your flavor-of-the-year genre leanings are

That absolutely does not imply that I'm "beyond" it, there is a 100% chance that I'll eventually start to appreciate metal again, just as I've bounced across classic rock, modern **** rock, metalcore, pop, metal and jazz a dozen times before. Why can't a guy recognize what he would have loved under different circumstances? Fortress 2 is going to drop and it's probably not going to interest me much because my shortcuts have been built to avoid screaming, breakdowns, shredding and double bass. But it'll be there when I get back. shut up |
No, sorry, you're definitely being a self-righteous boob. There's nothing wrong with moving into other genres but you're basically saying that you won't bother with the follow-up to an album you loved because you've moved beyond it. You're basically saying that you stopped 'appreciating' metal as if you've stopped because you've moved away from it. Having your phases going through phases is normal but you're basically saying you think something you used to love sucks because you're not currently actively digging it.
That's the difference between me and the majority of this board, I don't declare anything out of my scope "terrible", "sucky" or "lulz". Not appreciating something is not the same thing as being "beyond" it, nor does it give one the right to say it sucks. Classical composition, techno, black metal, reggae, all abundant styles of music that I am currently incapable of appreciating but completely respectable forms of expression that I wouldn't denigrate simply because It's never been my thing.
But you're not saying it isn't your thing, you're saying that you don't appreciate it anymore (which is stupid) so you probably won't bother with an album you loved. To the point where you bolded it.
Whatever. |
Also likely, the weeks leading up to the new album or a tour that I can go to will entice me to spin PTH again.
page is lol
I enjoy them. Better in moderation and I always seem to come back to them. Rode the chode has got it going on. They're obvious Sikth fans, which of course attracts me.
