my friend insists global warming doesn't exist.
she says "it's global cooling cuz it's so cold everywhere if anything"
Actually, the only place that's staying cold is the Antarctic continent. |
I don't get the location but avatar is awesome.
Let's just say the sheer magnitude of the avatar would make it hell for members on a simple dial-up connection. ADSL ftw :smoke: |
So i just got back from seeing Roger Waters. I must say i was quite impressed. Considering he is what like 64, he moved around a ton which suprised me. I didnt realize how much effort he puts into his shows with all the backdrops and mini movies in the backround. Quite a showman.
A little too much political bandstanding, but all and all the show was pretty good. |
There is no such thing as too much political bandstanding. :thumb: But seriously he kept it all for that small segment of the show and didn't let it get in the way of anything in particular.
Oh and I get the dialup slayer bit. Im also on Broadband, so it didnt occur to me straight away. |
He spray painted the back of the Pig " Impeach Bush now"
|
but impeachment doesn't mean that you're out of office?
|
Impeachment usually leads to that, though.
|
yeah true
anyway why on a pig why not on a kitten :( |
You're not much of the fan, are you Nic?
|
yeah true
anyway why on a pig why not on a kitten :(
Because the inflatable pig has been a tradition ever since animals. He just used it this to tour to spread his opinions. |
animal cruelty.
|
When I saw Roger Waters in Denver, Colorado several years ago they played a game of poker while the guitarist played one of the especially long solos. Roger and the backup singers did. It was funny.
|
 That sounds pretty funny.
|
Haha yeah, i saw Waters last week in Brisbane and he had the pig and the astronaut. how good was the backdrop that looked so really, then it was a video and no one expected it. I tells you what, it was pretty much the same as Pink Floyd without dave gilmour. And what was up with Snowy White from Thin Lizzy playing with him hahaha.

Snowy White played with Floyd back in the 70's, I think on their Animals and Wall tours. Now he's part of Roger's band. |
He created the extended solo on Pigs on the Wing Part II
|
Which you can only get on 8 Tracks, or maybe as a bonus on CD I dunno I only have the vinyl.
Oh and yeah I thought the backdrop was real too. |
I think they released something with the extended version, but that might be hogwash. I've never actually heard the version with the solo.
|
I have the Montreal concert bootleg, I can upload the specific song if you like.
|
What's this? No posts for a day??? This won't do.
So hey Jason, I just can't really get into Broken China, and I know you're a fan. What am I doing wrong??? It starts well, but then it kind of meshes together and I lose interest =/ |
Isn't meshing together a good thing? Otherwise itd be all over the place.
|
Meshing as in nothing stands out and grabs my attention :(
|
Ah ok. Yer I hate that too, Dragonforce suffering rather a lot from that.
|
Meshing together is good sometimes. Not in a DragonForce way, though.
|
Yes I agree. The Wall is a good example of meshing, pretty much all the concept albums I can think of are really.
|
So I read in the paper today that ROGER WATERS IS ACTUALLY COMING HERE. I'm so excited!! He's supposed to play here June 27 I think. Does anyone know if he's still playing Darkside?
|
Roger is coming back to North America? Maybe I'll get another chance to see him, woot.
|
2 Things
1. For the Roger Waters tour, if anyone needs information on what he's playing or where and when, check out www.brain-damage.co.uk They have everything you'll need. 2. I mentioned something about a second Live8 being held this summer. Well it's been officially announced and has a website running through msn. Here it is... http://liveearth.msn.com/?GT1=9033 I have no idea what bands are lined up and it doesn't seem to give any info. But if anyone was interested in this than that seems to be the place to keep up on it. EDIT: Ah, there seems to be a more official-esque website. http://liveearth.org/ Simple enough |
Thanks dude, much appreciated.
|
Wow, excellent news there.
That brain-damage site isn't working for me :/ |
The Departed was a great movie up until the country cover of Comfotably Numb came on, it toally ruined the vibe of the movie for me. How can anyone wreck that song or anything Pink Floyd does...that's just blasphemy. I really thought it sucked badly, the cover.
|
Is it only me or Comfortably Numb on the Pulse show makes any worries vanish away in a sweet swoosh of miracle sound?
|
That's the version from Roger Water's "The Wall live in Berlin"
It's Van Morrsion and The Band singing. Funny you mention that, because I just finished watching The Departed about two minutes ago. |
Is it only me or Comfortably Numb on the Pulse show makes any worries vanish away in a sweet swoosh of miracle sound?
I get that feeling, but with the Studio version. |
i know comfortably numb is "overrated" and whatnot, but i still contest that the solo at the end is the definition of secks.
plus singing the song really loudly with your drunk/stoned friends is so much fun |
I would say Comfortably Numb is probably one of, if not the best stand-alone Pink Floyd tracks.
|
so my friend was saying it was about heroin.
and i just realized it like a week ago |
I dont know if it's about heroin or not. I'm pretty sure Pink overdoses on something that could be heroin, but I think the song itself is about the doctors reviving him.
The part about the needle or the "pin prick" is when the doctors stick him with whatever medicine they're using. That's what it shows in the movie at least. I could see how someone could think it's about heroin though. "My hands felt just like two balloons" is about drug use of some sort, I think. On the movie's commentary, Roger mentions some drug that makes your hands swell up, and it might have been heroin. |
oh drugs.
whether it's the inebriating kind or the reviving kind, thank you for a wonderful song :thumb: |
But it's also about how as a child he was on his death bed (In the movie it's during the scenes for Mother) and he feels in the same situation now.
"When I was a child, I had a fever, my hands felt like two balloons, now I've got that feeling once again, I can't explain, you will not understand, this is not how I am. |
