I'm worried. The guy I thought would be taking me is saying he's not sure if he wants to see Bodom or a bunch of death metal bands at the same venue a week or so after. :( I'll just have to drop hints towards the CoB show. Luckily, a local melodic death band will be opening the CoB show, provided they sell 100 tickets. So for $15(US) a piece we could see Bodom and help out some local metalheads. Not a bad deal.

Taste_My_Scythe 09-06-2005 07:06 PM

Nope, not at all. Yikes though...I'd be worried too.

Shadows 09-06-2005 07:08 PM

I'm trying to talk him into it. The problem is thathe's rpoviding the transportation so it would be rude of me to ask him to "consider what I want" since he was nice enough to offer.

Aw screw it, he's pretty much my best friend. I can say whatever the hell I want to him. :D

Taste_My_Scythe 09-06-2005 07:10 PM

Yeah, best friend would be good. So this best friend doesn't like death metal? Which Bodom really isn't anyway...

Shadows 09-06-2005 07:11 PM

No, he ****ing loves death metal. That's why he's not sure if he wants to go see Bodom or the death metal show. He's the only one at my school I can really relate to. :(

Shattered_Future 09-06-2005 07:12 PM

It depends...if the local MDM band is GOOD, it's wise to go and support them...bands need all the support they can get.

It's worse than most people think... :upset:
I'm not sure what that is as i've never done it before, nor have i ever thought about it. I wanna get tickets for Bodom when they come to the Uk in Jan '06.
Ticketmaster? It's just a website where you can get tickets..
Have you heard CoB cover that Britney Spears song?
Yes.
/pats Mike on the back
Nooo, it's not about me...my band actually has to play the same SONG together before we get supported. :p

I meant people around me...my dad's group needs support, my cousin's group (who are quite good, actually) needs support, and my best friend's band (I put the idea to play bass in his head...hasn't looked back since :) ) needs support as well.

People just aren't really willing to give it a listen...they're content with their Top 40 music.

Hells Bells 09-06-2005 07:18 PM

True, especially if they're local. They make nothing off of record sales, and most of the money they make from shows goes to pay for the venue and studio time.

Support as in? Fans? Because if they're good, and you provide some mp3s, and I like em, I'll start making shirts. ;)

My dad has to PAY for his goddam records...

Which really sucks, because (maybe this is a little biased...not by much, though), he's probably one of the best guitarists around today. Nobody knows who he is though. Why? Cause he plays JAZZ! Nobody listens to jazz anymore, which is a shame...

Shirts?

That would be rather odd, seeing a 40 something balding guy with a semihollowbody guitar on it. :p

Nah, I just meant that if I heard them, and liked them, then I'd support them if I could. Jazz is cool.

Yeah, a few of my friends decided to record an album for their band. Record sales didn't cover the costs of the studio and they had to pay the difference. Studios are flipping expensive too

 You wouldn't have to put your dad on it, you could have a logo. I like to think I can draw, so if TMS really wanted to do those shirts I could design one.

Whoa! Slow down there!! We actually need to hear the band before we start organizing shirt-making and logos.
:p

Taste_My_Scythe 09-06-2005 07:48 PM

Righto. So, Mike. Whenever you can upload stuff, Hells here and I will be ready with the logos and the shirtmaking. :D Providing we like them, of course.
Gotta go guys...see ya later.

Anyone else here a fan of the song Lil Bloodred Riding Hood? I just listened to that song again and finally realized how awesome it was.

You know, you could sound a lot more intelligent and not make people like me mad if you just said "I like the sweeps". Talking like that just makes you look stupid.

liveafterdeath 09-06-2005 08:21 PM

So true man :-(

It's so underappreciated. I still love showing Malmsteen fanboys people like John McLaughlin and Shawn Lane.

NEVRMORE2 09-07-2005 01:28 PM
Shawn Lane.
actually my teacher let me borrow some vids of him playing and i dident think they where very good i think malmsteens better.

Whaaaaaaaattttttttttttt.............

You may not like his style, but you have to admit that he is one of the most skilled guitarists ever. I actually don't think that there's been another guitarist that is technically better than him.

not from what i saw i wasnt as impressed as alexi and malmsteen

Xerxes 09-07-2005 01:49 PM

I must ignore the lyrics on most songs. They are, for the most part, aura ruining.

Shadows 09-07-2005 01:50 PM

 Tee-sassy uploaded a live video of him playing and I thought he was great. Keep in mind that there's a whole lot more to guitar than speed and shredding.

AA-12 09-07-2005 01:52 PM
not from what i saw i wasnt as impressed as alexi and malmsteen
Trust me, Lane is way faster than Alexi and Malmsteen put together. The thing is though, he doesn't overdue it at all with fast playing. He also mastered theory in general, meaning that he can seamlessly play on guitar, keyboard, bass, etc.
