slack 11-15-2006 10:28 AM

ugh, I am having toughest time writing anything over 1,000 words. I was going to enter that short story competition, but it ain't looking so good. :upset:

TojesDolan 11-15-2006 11:28 AM

Meh, I'm sure everyone is writing about a harlot.

Bastards.

slack 11-15-2006 02:09 PM

So I just bought Grizzly Bear's album Yellow House and it is amazing. Anyone else heard of this band?

Eliminator 11-15-2006 03:40 PM

They're bland.

i am the robots 11-15-2006 03:52 PM

Never heard, don't think I want to.

TojesDolan 11-15-2006 03:54 PM

I don't really listen to Ursine-related bands aside Minus The Bear.

slack 11-15-2006 06:25 PM

Right. That settles that, I guess :/

Eliminator 11-15-2006 06:32 PM

i've had song ideas in my head all day

i don't want to write anything down because i don't feel like it

but i don't want to lose them

FA 11-15-2006 07:06 PM

walk it out...west side walk it out, south side walk it out, east side walk it out, north side walk it out...etc

Surf 11-15-2006 07:28 PM

I'm hitchhiking to Dublin for a few days. So I'll be gone from the forums. I'm sure you'll miss me...

ugh I have to get up at six in the morning and rely on truckers all day. Loads of fun.

slack 11-15-2006 07:38 PM

Just for the hell of it? Sounds fun.

Take it easy.

TojesDolan 11-15-2006 07:42 PM

Have fun Surf.

:)

say something about my new piece before you leave >->

Surf 11-15-2006 07:44 PM

There's some sort of charity involved, but I haven't raised any money.

I'm just going for the guinness. And the fact that I love the Pogues, I'm sure they'll be playing Fairytale of New York everywhere. Best Christmas song ever.

Tojes, I'll get on it now.

Eliminator 11-15-2006 07:47 PM

the pogues \mmmmmmm/

Eliminator 11-15-2006 09:18 PM

i just wrote some of a song, but i don't want to make an individual thread for it yet. this is what i have

malachite, you gaze so heavily
through envy i harvest you
and weave the threads of our past

let us take it and shovel the remains
away from this burrow in the hills
let us craft it into something of worth

and from here we'll move forth for
every motion has become fallible
as we bury every step in the dirt

slack 11-15-2006 10:00 PM

Yeah.

I haet Minus the Bear with more passion than the loli haet pizza.

Eliminator 11-15-2006 10:12 PM

haet eh?

TheBigMachine 11-16-2006 01:40 AM

It's kind of like 'teh'

slack 11-16-2006 02:21 AM

Random lyrics because I am super bored and this board is so dead, dead, dead lately
TINFOIL HATS

he reminded me that the only way to
keep aliens from reading your mind
is to wear a tinfoil hat friend and wear it all the time
life keeps on changing
tell it to stay still but it won't listen
I just want you near me like you are now for good
transistor tape recorder, tell me about everything that I've lost
I know you've got it all stored somewhere
at least I'm keeping my fingers crossed
life keeps on changing
tell it to stay still but it won't listen
I just want you near me like you are now for good
kid I'm gonna be with you longer than the world can stand cause
there's a light that's stronger
shinning out of your eyes I see it
and it won't be long now
life keeps on changing
tell it to stay still
but it won't listen
I just want you near me like you are now for good
Been listening Opeth quite too much, uh?

Eliminator 11-16-2006 05:17 PM

i was switching from folk stuff to maudlin of the well

thinking about it earlier i decided that it would be good for a metal song

go tojes!

TojesDolan 11-16-2006 05:19 PM

It's good to see that you are taking some stuff seriously again.

= 0

Eliminator 11-16-2006 05:27 PM

what do you mean?

i am the robots 11-16-2006 05:47 PM

Elim be banned? Lame.

That song is sort of Opethy, sort of old Underoathy... like, the topic of choice and the way it comes out is very much Dallas Taylor-esque, but the vocab usage and sentence structure is like Akerfeldt.

I quite like.

slack 11-16-2006 06:52 PM
I like how you're not really specific; I find the best lyrics to be very metaphorical and force the reader/listener to interpret the bulk of them for themselves. Spoon feeding your meaning to people is catering to the lowest common denominator.
UGH. As if specificity and metaphor were mutually exclusive.

i am the robots 11-16-2006 09:31 PM

Yeah, they're pretty good.

I thoroughly revamped Leinadia.

I love the harmonica line in that song, but, overall, the album lets down in too many places.

Ugh why'd you get banned, pit nonsense or something

Cygnus Inter Anates 11-17-2006 06:29 AM

according to ydload i trolled alt/indie

TojesDolan 11-17-2006 10:27 AM

Alternative and Indie is a bit of a closed community that won't allow new users to come in because the indie factor would be lost.

Go figure.
I love the harmonica line in that song, but, overall, the album lets down in too many places.
Yeah. I don't know why I posted that song, it's not even my favorite. :/

Migraines 11-17-2006 06:23 PM

Hey...everyone?

I've been checking out other forums lately and I found this one...

The other places I've been are too chummy and exclusive to actually get into a community for writing...

What's this place like? You like them?

SubtleDagger 11-17-2006 06:25 PM

This place has been dead as hell lately

But please feel free to write stuff and critique other people so long as you read the rules

We need more active people :|

Migraines 11-17-2006 06:27 PM
This place has been dead as hell lately
Well, at least most of these writing forums are consistent with each other...I probably won't post anything for a little bit, but I'll get on critiquing stuff soon

slack 11-17-2006 06:34 PM

This place is awesome when people actually talk and stuff :/

SubtleDagger 11-17-2006 06:35 PM

:7|

slack 11-17-2006 06:36 PM

Look at you trying to sabotage my chances in the LC :upset:
