Triggen, only Tre used K's and A's. Travis uses Z Customs.

Try out A's if you have the money. If you want cheaper, try out Pro Sonix like Phil said.

Cocaberry 08-20-2006 10:33 PM
k, i'm lookin' for a nice, crashable ride, 20 or 22'', from zildjian or sabian, if anyone's got an idea, please shoot it out, it can be anything along the lines of A, A Custom, K, K custom, AA, AAX, HH, HHX, or Sig. it's gotta be fairly versitile and have a fairly good bell.
AAX Stage Ride
AA Medium Ride
AAX Studio Ride (medium-thin, hardly any ping)

stevensonmat2 08-20-2006 11:10 PM

If your looking for new cymbals and money is an issue, the A custom and A trad box sets are a solid choice. Theyre like $650 american at GC and in Musicians friend(same thing), and you get a 20" ride, 16" crash and 14" hats, plus a free cymbal bag(which is pretty sweet I have it). Plus, the A customs pack comes with both the free bag AND a free 18" crash.Heres a link, theres some other box sets, too. good luck :smoke:

Panopticon 08-21-2006 02:54 AM
Actually travis uses Z Customs
In Z-time 05 (zildjian catalogue) it says he uses A's. j00 lose!

Panopticon 08-21-2006 02:55 AM
It depeneds where he lives. Wher i live, a stupid ZXT pack costs around 450 dollars. Everything is overpriced.
A ZXTi pack here costs about $750 at this one store.
In Z-time 05 (zildjian catalogue) it says he uses A's. j00 lose!
Actually, I just checked his current set up and he uses Avedis series cymbals... :smash:

Look at the hammering on those. Do they LOOK like A's to you?

More proof? OK

Triggen 08-21-2006 07:13 AM

Ok, go on Zildjian.com and go on artists and search for Travis Barker and click on cymbal configuration. It will show his current set up.

Drum Phil 08-21-2006 07:19 AM

It also only shows his STUDIO setup. Which is completely different to his live setup.

Chris 08-21-2006 10:53 AM

It might not even be his studio set up. As he can use whatever he wants in the studio.

Triggen 08-21-2006 04:53 PM

Anyway, So I might get A Custom Cymbals, would be alright? I was thinking 16in Medium Crash with a 16in Fast Crash. Is that alright for Green Day and Blink 182?

Drum Phil 08-21-2006 05:05 PM

Dont buy a cymbal cause it fits a cover song. Buy it because you like the sound.

Anyone will tell you that.

HeLLmO 08-21-2006 05:06 PM

^this is so true. fortunatly, A Customs are good, and i would totally buy 'em

Drum Phil 08-21-2006 05:22 PM

I have a very odd taste in cymbals.

AAXplosion next to K Custom fast crashes next to platinum rides next to (hopefully) Meinl Byzance and Gen X hats

MatthewMeredith 08-21-2006 05:27 PM

Mmm...... Byzance.....

Duh-dunh, chhhhshhshshshs.......

ETP2, I'm pretty sure it's just you and I left on the forum.

Edit: Nope, he's gone too... :(

MXicanDrummer 08-22-2006 11:58 AM

What is a good cymbal to blend with a Sabian AAX 18" crash.

Btw those cymbals there Phil, look like Z's or Z customs.
hell it even shows the Z in the bottom picture...

Edit: Nevermind Phil, I'm a ****ing moron

Drum Phil 08-22-2006 12:16 PM

I know. Thats the point. They're Z Customs. Proving that travis uses Z customs :-/

saars 08-22-2006 03:34 PM

What is the sabian sound equivalent of the 18" zildjian a thin crash and the 14" k mastersounds?

HeLLmO 08-22-2006 03:41 PM

i think it's AA(X?) studio, if they don't make AA studio you could get AAX in trad finish, and the Matersound equvalent would be HHxcellerators(not HHXcellerators), but i'm not sure if they make those, so you'd have to talk to sabian and get them custom done

stevensonmat2 08-22-2006 06:55 PM

Hey im looking for a really dark sounding ride that I could play in rock setting, something thatll cut, but with great stick definition.

My drummer is looking for some new crashes for metal. He hits hard on his cymbals and he broke both of his ZBT Crashes. I know ZBT sux but he is afraid he will break more cymbals. He is looking at Zildjian cymbals and he wants some that sound good with metal and are very durable. Any suggestions?

stevensonmat2 08-22-2006 10:22 PM

Z customs are supposedly the cymbals for hard rock/metal, but ive never tried em.

saars 08-22-2006 10:25 PM

To HeLLmO: Thanks! If I want to get a pair custom made, do you know how much it will cost me? Or more over, what number I should call to get a pair made?

HeLLmO 08-22-2006 10:39 PM
um... Z... Customs..? I'm probably gonna get flamed, but when I read metal, Z custom was the first two words that came in mind.

well, as to that, i'm honestly not sure, i'm sure you could look on the sabian site and try to find an FAQ or an Address or somethin'. if all else fairs you could always go to canada. i don't think the hats themselves would cost too much more than the hats would be if you didn't tamper with them, for example on massmusic, 14'' HH regular hats are 359, so i can't imagine gettin' them soundedged would make them more that 380(that's just an example, i don't recall sabians actual prices). they're usually really helpful with their custom stuff, so i think you'll be fine. glad i could be of help to ya

18" and 20" paiste 2002 medium crash or the sabian AA-metal-X crashes

Z customs should not be used. Period.

Try some A Customs and a teacher.

Im looking for a 2nd ride. Im going to be using it for gigging. I want a crashable ride with great stick definition and a cutting bell, preferably around the 20"/21" range.

Drum Phil 08-23-2006 12:37 PM

Sweet ride?

HeLLmO 08-23-2006 12:38 PM

sweet ride, without a doubt, i'm gettin' one by the end of the year hopefully

FooBuddy1989 08-23-2006 05:19 PM

yeah i'd say sweet ride, but if you want to get better stick definition i recommend using peter erskine or dave weckl sticks

HeLLmO 08-23-2006 05:20 PM

basically, barrell tips is what your saying

HeLLmO 08-23-2006 06:13 PM

k, 1 last thing, K Custom Ride, 20'', anyone know it's crashability, i love the actual ride and bell more than the sweet ride, but lack of crashability really is a deal breaker

We_Love_Lime 08-23-2006 06:20 PM

on Zildjian the site, you are able to view I belive, riding, the bell, and crashing some cymbals.
