Revolver shirts = awesome. I have an Abbey Road shirt, I love it.

You say band shirts are going out of style? Now I can be unfashionably uncool again. w00t!

I know very little about Bard, unfortunately. What kind of school is it?
I was going to get an Abbey Road shirt, but I decided on a shirt with pictures of the four of them on it. It looks like it's from The White Album time period, it's a cool shirt. Maybe I'll get Abbey Road or Revolver next time.

Bard is a small school in Vermont. I think it's a pretty good art school too.

I have a John Lennon shirt (with his self potrait) in black, its pretty **** cool, I bought it at the Hall of Fame in Cleveland. Its my most prized piece of clothing.

My dad has that shirt also.

Flaminghotchino 09-15-2005 05:09 PM

I'll be pissed if band shirts go out of style..because I've been trying to get some shrits that aren't because I thought that'd be kinda cool.. But it'll lose its coolness once band shirts go out..and then I have to switch back..and ahhhh **** fashion.

I have a Lennon shirt with him in front of an American flag. It says Give Piece A Chance on the back with a peace symbol. Pretty nice shirt.

Ha, I saw someone at my school with that shirt for the first time. Pretty cool.

Jacaranda 09-15-2005 05:53 PM

Some kid at school only wears John Lennon shirts and its obvious this guy loves him. I've been thinking of talking to him but he's into that Japanese Cartoon stuff and that sorta scares me.
Whereabouts do you live, because I'll come a-runnin' to see some birds in beatles shirts. I like to wear my Abbey Road shirt as I feel like i am reminding the world of just how good the Beatles are, as we move further and further away from the 60's, people tend to forget and by wearing a shirt around, I might get just one person to become interested and download one track that may in turn, turn them into a fan.
One of my best friends is obsessed with The Beatles. She always wears Beatles shirts, she's actually got every single one in the city...and she actually gets notified when a new one is coming in. I think it's cool because most girls would rather wear some bright pink skimpy shirt with the word "slut" on the front than a Beatles shirt. On the other hand....it has it's downfalls because I don't own any Beatles shirts that she hasn't already bought, and she has really a very nice body and big boobs and most Beatles shirts are XL so they cover her up.

edit- to Jacaranda's post.

It's in Annandale-on-Hudson New York (Red Hook, really, in the Hudson Valley), and it's a 4-year liberal arts college in a rural sort of place, really pretty
You can major in pretty much anything, they have a million professors, the classes are small-ish and it is definatly geared toward the preforming and fine arts. It is so ****ing awsome, and not too far away, either

Soon I gotta go there and shadow a class

Vermont/ Hudson Valley. I was close enough. I knew it was a liberal arts school though. Speaking of small liberal arts colleges, I'm visiting Weslyan sometime this fall. It's in Middleton, CT. My mom went there, and she wants me to look at it.
If anyones interested, here's a video of John Lennon, Eric Clapton, Keith Richards and Mitch Mitchells playing Yer Blues. Pretty damn cool.

That was from the Rock N Roll Circus I downloaded it a while back it's really sweet and John's vocals are great.
Some people wear Beatles shirts just to be "Retro Cool" I have noticed. I dont need to wear a Beatles shirt. I dont feel the need to prove that I like The Beatles.
That's stupid when people complain about people wearing band shirts. People dont wear Nike Shirts because they have to prove they like nike. They wear it because they like the shirts. I doubt anyone goes OH MY! A BEATLES SHIRT! THIS WILL PROVE TO THE WORLD I LOVE THE BEATLES! They go hey I like the Beatles, why not have a beatles shirt?

Anyways I got a dark blue one that just has "The Beatles" writing on it, but my girlfriend bought me a Beatles one that has a picture of a ticket with there faces on it it's pretty cool. But she got me a really awesome John Lennon shirt that has him crossing his arms in the "New York" shirt...you know what picture im talking about.

It's good to have the alumni connection. Neither of my parents even went to college

Wesleyan looks awsome. I need to start looking at colleges I don't hate and I could actually get into, though. Nice safetys are hard to come by. UVM looks like total crap compared to Bard

That video of Yer Blues is awesome. Pretty good job with the camera too. I was expecting them to zoom in on Lennon's feet or something, like most movies from 30 years ago, but they were good, zooming in on Clapton's fingers during the solo. It was great. I need that DVD.

This is the first post I've made relevent to music in this thread for like a week. The last week we've been talking about school, t-shirts, and colleges.

Leper 09-15-2005 11:30 PM

I've got a sweet Beatles shirt. It's grey, and it says the beatles across the top in white lettering, and it has them all facing the camera in just kind of assorted poses. It looks like it's in their Abbey Road era because John's got that massive beard and long hair.

Illmatic 09-15-2005 11:36 PM
Must. Get. Into. Bard.
nerd :p

but anyway, isn't Bard a liberal arts school? I don't think math would be that important to them. I might be wrong.

Cool, I think I should get a Lennon shirt. I think the next thing I'll look for is a Jethro Tull shirt, though.
Cool, I think I should get a Lennon shirt. The teacher asked if the name sounded familiar and I was the only one who replied and knew it was a band.

clown_phobia 09-16-2005 12:55 AM
Yeah. It's a well known fact that John hated jazz with a passion.
I'm well aware that it's a cover - but Lennon did sing 'I dont have anything against doern jazz unless they try to play it too darn fast' on rock and roll music (I think its off beatles for sale)

Wow - that RR circus video really rocked! Clapton is god!

dr._feelgood 09-18-2005 09:26 AM

Bump, because The Beatles thread should not be on the 5th page.

NP: Back In The USSR (What album is this song on?)
White Album^^

NP:Maybe I'm Amazed(Paul McCartney,close enough to the Beatles)
Maybe I'm Amazed is a great song. It sounds a lot like the Beatles. In fact, I think it would have been much better if it was recorded by them. I could see John adding in some nice vocal harmonies, and George improving that guitar solo, it could have been a lot like Let it Be if they recorded it together. Still a great song though.

I got a Tull concert shirt.

Woot woot.

:naughty:

Jimi Haze 09-18-2005 10:40 AM

Anyone picked up Macca's new album yet? Technically not Beatles I know.. but it's close enough :D

Also who's seen Concert For George - that's supposed to be excellent?

Krabsworth 09-18-2005 10:41 AM

So....who was the 6th Beatle again?

Jacaranda 09-18-2005 11:27 AM

6th? I only know of 5....

JonG 09-18-2005 11:30 AM

Yeah, the 5th was George Martin?

robo2448 09-18-2005 11:32 AM
Yeah, the 5th was George Martin?
So 6th could be Brian Epstein, Pete Best, Billy Preston, Stu Sutcliffe... One of those guys.

Jacaranda 09-18-2005 11:37 AM

I was thinking of Stu because he was in the band for awhile.

robo2448 09-18-2005 11:38 AM
I was thinking of Stu because he was in the band for awhile.
Pete was in the band longer than Stu.

Walrus Gumboot 09-18-2005 11:39 AM

Billy Preston moreso than Stu and Pete combined

Jacaranda 09-18-2005 11:45 AM

Oh, ya thats right Pete was the drummer, I haven't read a Bio on them since 7th grade.

robo2448 09-18-2005 11:46 AM
Billy Preston moreso than Stu and Pete combined
Billy Preston is really cool. He was like 13 when the Beatles first met him.

MBS 09-18-2005 12:09 PM
Also who's seen Concert For George - that's supposed to be excellent?
That is sex on a DVD. It's so great. If you don't have it, do yourself a favor and pick it up. The first half is all Harrison's indian music, but the second half is AMAZING.

Jeff Lynne, Dhani Harrison, Eric Clapton, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr are just some of the people I can think of off the top of my head.

Broken Arrow 09-18-2005 12:15 PM

Whats wrong with indian music?

Flaminghotchino 09-18-2005 03:23 PM

Concert for George.. what exactly is on there? is it george playing? the beatles playing? footage of george or a tribute to him?

Seems like it'd be a tribute if its called a concert FOR george..

Illmatic 09-18-2005 03:26 PM

It was a tribute concert that was performed after George's death.

Woodstock 09-18-2005 03:28 PM

I saw the end of that concert on PBS once, it looked ok. I didn't any spectacular performances.

blue3 09-18-2005 03:51 PM

I'm going to this Beatles tribute band called 'Rain'. Anyone seen them live?
