I'm seeing This Will Destroy You + And so I watch You From Afar. Going to be sex.

periculosus 08-15-2009 08:15 PM

mooncake is really amazing, anyone heard of them?

And so I watch You From Afar = IS sex

Nepenthe 08-15-2009 09:50 PM

mooncake is decent. you guys are fapping on this will destroy you way too hard. theyre just another generic post rock group. dont get me wrong i enjoy listening to them just bc i enjoy post rock so much, but too many of them do absolutely nothing to differentiate themselves. twdy included.

as the poets affirm is some righteous **** tho

and for the love of god why does nobody listen to me when i say check out long distance calling's avoid the light? easily the best album of the year.

Txus 08-15-2009 10:07 PM

evpatoria report ftw!

and wtf, and so i watch you from afar are far from being plain, anthony.

Nepenthe 08-15-2009 10:39 PM

ill have to disagree with you on that one

easylee 08-15-2009 10:39 PM

I love me some post rock, but I don't see myself going to see it live. Well maybe if I brought a pillow.

I've heard The Jaws That Bite, The Claws that Catch and remember it being impressive, i'm largely undecided on this genre as a whole but that managed to hook my interest.

if theyre a good band it can be amazing live. i saw sigur ros live last year and that was easily the best concert i have ever been to. the entire venue was silent as they played their songs, no one made a noise because everyone was amazed. it was just a great live experience

i want to tell my heart to you but i cannot say english (haha) is an excellent cd. their string instruments' parts are insanely addictive.

Meatplow 08-16-2009 01:04 AM

that statement confused the hell out of me just then until I realised the whole front part was an album title.

i'll look into it, thanks. getting into post-rock has been a very slow process.

Nepenthe 08-16-2009 01:11 AM

the album i mentioned is more accessible than the one you did

**** typing those titles again

salival13 08-16-2009 02:20 PM

If anybody from this thread has been living under a rock in Brooklyn, Pelican, Sun O))), Wolves in the Throne Room and Earth are playing together for one night in September.

:( Fcuk being in the Midwest

Jaundice 08-16-2009 02:21 PM

will explosions in the sky and godspeed you black emperor be on the bill as well

otherwise get out of this thread

botb 08-16-2009 02:22 PM

honestly that lineup is good

Jaundice 08-16-2009 02:23 PM

i can't name drop any of those bands to impress hipster girls, so it probably should be in one of the thirty slude/post-metal/doom threads and not in post-rock

TricksterGRex 08-16-2009 02:24 PM

not even Pelican?

salival13 08-16-2009 02:27 PM

Pelican is unarguably Post-Rock and alot of those bands elements overlap with what people in this thread listen to. Just trying to inform anyone, I'd be pissed if i missed that show cause I didn't know about it and could've gone.

BTW Boris is playing there the same week performing Feedbacker

Jaundice 08-16-2009 02:31 PM

i just playing around any way

Txus 08-16-2009 02:53 PM

Yep, I'm going to this and Boris.

:)

Alex, Pelican should remain in this thread.

Nepenthe 08-16-2009 03:05 PM

pelicans new stuff is more post rock than anything else

Txus 08-16-2009 03:06 PM

I hope the new album is any good, the last EP's have been kinda mediocre.

Det_Nosnip 08-16-2009 11:39 PM

Tortoise.

horseypie 09-16-2009 09:32 PM

bump just to say that med sud i eyrum vid spilum endalaust is possibly my favourite album at the moment. i dont think they could have gotten it much better

Nepenthe 09-16-2009 09:33 PM

ugh sigur ros

horseypie 09-16-2009 09:45 PM

i was waiting for that

Captain Civic 09-16-2009 09:51 PM

Mono ftw.

Although if I have the windows down in my car and I'm listening to 'Hymn to the Immortal Wind', I can't hear the start.

Nepenthe 09-16-2009 10:17 PM

long distance calling and from monument to masses are the two most recents bands ive been enjoying lately

Txus 09-17-2009 07:24 AM

Long Distance Calling was boring at first but after listening to their new album a couple of times I gotta say they are quite good. Is the first album any good?

Bleekill 09-17-2009 07:44 AM

Yes Mono is probably my fave postrock band other than Grails.

Hymn is in my top 5 albums of the year for sure.
