Is there any specific kind of fabric paint you guys use? because all I can find around here is "dimensional" fabric paint.
go to michaels or some craft store, ask for fabric paint, there should be an aisle. i wouldnt use anything that sprays, it wont turn out as good as regular fabric paint. also, use a brush, or even better, one of thoe roller things. always remember to wash it, it will get stuck if you dont. |

that's a great shirt design.

Thanks a lot for any help/ideas.
Well if it's for only a few shirts then use iron on, because DIY silksceening that would end up way more time and effort than would be worth it (with the grey shades you'd have to do a 2 color print, plus you'd need 2 screens with photo emulsion). If you want a lot made and are willing to spend more money, then you could get a company to do it for you. |

Or if you plan on making patches you can buy (water based) screen printing fluid which you can use with a paintbrush. If you're going to be making shirts of using it on anything that needs to be flexible, then you should buy paint or something. Water based ink isn't very flexible and it cracks (especially black on white), but I'll bet it's a lot cheaper than buying little cans of paint, plus it dosen't wash out once you iron it into the fabric (about 2-3 minutes). Don't buy plastic based ink because you need a machine to make it work. |
I got a blank black zip up hoody today and I haven't decided if I'm going to sew the DK back patch on it, or make a stencil and spray paint the thing. I've never made a stencil before and I don't want to ruin the hoody with some experiment if I can make a perfectly good DK one.
If you end up doing the stencil, make sure you use tape (preferrably double sided) and tape the stencil down, that way you have really well defined lines and don't get a lot of fuzziness in detailed areas. Sticker paper would probably work too. |

I have an idea.
A while ago I was reading this anarchist newsletter that came with an Aus-Rotten LP, and it had a listing of a bunch of things people could go to, like classes or activities. So I got the idea of maybe holding some sort of silkscreening/pin making event sometime, so a lot of kids from the SLC scene could all hang out an make merch. I can handle expenses and stuff, but has anyone ever organized any sort of event? I'd need a place to hold it, so all I can think of is renting out a park pavillion. I basically need somewhere with some electrical outlets, and a place to wash off screens. So any ideas/suggestions? Has anyone had any experience with organizing things other than shows? |
Nope but it's a good idea.
