Im saying nobody did anything great with their instruments yesterday, the solos were mediocre, drums and guitar, and keyboards and bass didnt solo.

God you are dense. Im sayin they didnt impress me with their talent of the instrument they played. Buz doing 5 string sweeps for like 2 minutes straight was impressive, Chris Adlers drumming was impressive. Opeth, nothing was really impressive.

Yeah, they didnt do sweeping at the show, so they must not be able to do it at all. Opeth's riffs are far more complex and unorthodox than any of Lamb of God's, and Mikael and Peter are more than capable of mindlessly shredding, though they opt for writing solos instead of just going haywire on the guitar.

So as you can see Metallica has had more of an impact than you have given them credit for. As for them being weird, they are Swedish, or from around there, and many people from that area are kind of weird, but only the metal bands, no one else there is like this. These Metal guys in that area think metal is fast guitar riffs that are monotonous and stay that way song after song. Now I've heard many bands of that region, many don't appeal to me, but some do, and it seems this is one that does not appeal to my taste in music, as it does the rest of you ladies.

That's cool. 1st amendment. I saw them live and it was ungodly. They sounded perfect - Pry the best concert I have ever been to, I have been to quite a few.

I will defend this thread by saying - Don't come in here with that negative attitude cause you dislike their Live Show. Yeah, that's pretty stupid. To love Opeth because of how different they sound and then complain because no one else sounds like them.

People are entitled to their opinions and I'm all for less fanboys in ANY official thread. Threads are for discussion, and in this one I see many many more posts dealing with what the favorite Opeth song of the moment is for all the regular users rather than any real criticism or discussion about an aspect of the band. Whenever I criticize Morningrise, for instance, it tends to be mostly dismissed or ignored, and nothing ever gets talked about except what an awesome song "The Drapery Falls" is. I haven't seen a stimulating discussion in here in a long time, I'm sorry to say.

No hard feelings, everyone, but don't tell a person to get out of the Opeth thread because they don't like Opeth. It does nothing except hinder real debate and discussion.
