Listening right now to Pixes Surfer Rosa... I then plan on listening to My Bloody Valentine.
In other news, it turns out I spent about a hundred and fifty dollars last month on music. Ouch, guess whos broke now?
$150 in a month isn't that bad. But I'm guessing you have no source of income other than your parents. |

got that right... Could get a job if I wanted... but I dont care that much I'll just have to wait a little longer to buy cds. |
I'm listening to this demo I got from a drummer who played at the local art gallery some months ago. His name is M.Sord, and he's a cool dude.
Pelican (post metal?)
I'm interested. I've been listening to Maudlin of the Well. Very interesting band. |
I've pretty much only been listening to:
The Polyphonic Spree The Beach Boys Mercury Rev So that sort of stuff. Can anybody suggest some other bands along those lines? Other than the obvious ones? |
Dios Malos maybe?
|
I've been listening to some Can lately, I think I'll get 'Monster Movie' soon.
|
I read Oedipus Rex and The Bacchae the other night while listening to Explosions in the Sky, and it was surreal.
Oh yeah, I'm really digging EiTS right now...again. |
I listened to Xiu Xiu earlier and had lots of fun.
|
Question Time!!!!!
Did J Mascis play all the lead guitar for Dino Joonya? If so, wow. |
Well there were only the three of them so I guess so Tapeworm sir.
|
Intriguing, I wasn't sure of the amount of members. I guess he just played both/all parts on records.
Best. Guitarist. Ever. |
Dios Malos maybe?
/agree |
Saetia sound like they have somewhat of a Slint influence.
/random observation |
I liked it quite well the first time I heard it, and have only had the urge to put it on once since then. Reverse reactions!
It's a great album, but I think it lacks some of the long term appeal of some of Patton's other stuff.

Mr. Bungle- Ars Moriendi
Thanks to Zappa for the song (and for el doctor for the recommendation). Eastern European folk metal is just what I was looking for. |
J Mascis was called 'the indie Jimi Hendrix' by Q this month.
Anyway, I feel like I should be digging Rufus Wainwright's Want Two, because I read some reviews and I already love the album, despite having not heard a note of it. I actually have been digging Dinosaur Jr, and L'Arc~En~Ciel. |
I have been listening to Cursive a lot for quite a while, but can't find any bands like them, or bands that make a good progression from them into more alt. music, do anybody have any recommendations?
|
^The Good Life, lol. Check out the whole Saddle Creek batallion(Azure Ray, The Faint, Bright Eyes, etc).
Mr. Bungle- Ars Moriendi Thanks to Zappa for the song (and for el doctor for the recommendation). Eastern European folk metal is just what I was looking for.
If you like a Mr. Bungle with less metal and more prog noodling, you might like Ruins. |
haven't listened to Incubus in a while, so i've been listening to them alllll day.

That's my favorite track off of 'California'. I've been really getting in to Tub Ring a lot lately. At first I didn't think I'd like them to much, but once I got through several of their songs, I've gotten hooked. |
into Swervedriver and a band called Singapore Sling... Pretty good stuff.
'Tis a good song indeed. You should try "None of them knew they were robots..." and "Goodbye Sober Day" off of the same album for pure awesomeness. |

And L'Arc En Ciel, I've been getting into them too lately. Ready Steady Go :)
Nice. :) So far today I have been mostly digging Kraftwerk and The Clash. And Bill Bailey. |
the Amelie soundtrack is so very good.
